Disclosed herein is an image forming apparatus having a structure improved such that a user easily opens and closes a printing media cassette. The image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body, a printing media cassette to receive printing media, the printing media cassette being movably coupled to the apparatus body, and at least one lever movably disposed in the apparatus body, the lever contacting the printing media cassette to pull the printing media cassette into the apparatus body and then being separated from the printing media cassette when the printing media cassette is closed.

An image forming apparatus includes lock mechanisms, a regulation processing portion, and a second release processing portion. The lock mechanisms correspond to attachment portions to each of which a developer storage portion is attached, and each regulate detachment of a developer storage portion attached to an attachment portion. When a first state where developer storage portions of a specific type are attached to all the attachment portions, has been detected, and there is a lock mechanism that is not regulating detachment, the regulation processing portion causes the lock mechanism to regulate detachment of the developer storage portion. When a second state where a developer storage portion of the specific type has not been attached to at least one attachment portion, has been detected, and all the lock mechanisms are regulating detachment, the second release processing portion causes all the lock mechanisms to release regulation of detachment.

An image forming apparatus includes: a housing; a cover; a developing cartridge; and a drum cartridge including a drum frame, a photosensitive drum, a pressing member configured to press the developing roller to the photosensitive drum in a state where the developing cartridge is mounted to the drum frame, and a lock lever, the drum cartridge being mountable to an inside of the housing in a state where the developing cartridge is mounted to the drum cartridge, wherein in a state where the cover moves from the closed position to the opened position, the lock lever moves from a locked position at which the developing cartridge is prevented from being demounted from the drum frame to a non-locked position at which the developing cartridge is allowed to be demountable from the drum frame.

An image forming apparatus includes: a top cover configured to cover a part of an opening of a housing; a front cover configured to cover a part of the remaining of the opening; a toner cartridge; and a drum cartridge, wherein in a state where the front cover is located at the opened position, the drum cartridge having the toner cartridge mounted thereto is mountable and demountable to and from the housing, whereas the drum cartridge is prevented from being mounted and demounted to and from the housing in a state where the front cover is located at the closed position, wherein when the top cover is located at the opened position, the toner cartridge is mountable and demountable to and from the drum cartridge, and wherein when the top cover is located at the closed position, the toner cartridge is prevented from being demounted from the drum cartridge.

A holding member that holds an optical print head for exposing a photosensitive drum is provided with one abutting pin at each end thereof in the longitudinal direction. Each abutting pin has both a function of forming a gap between the optical print head and the photosensitive drum, and a function of restricting movement of the holding member in the X direction and Y direction. The holding member is supported by a link member further toward the side of the photosensitive drum than the lower end portion of the abutting pins.

An embossed component for positioning an article having a through hole includes a planar portion and an embossed portion projecting from a surface of the planar portion. The embossed portion is tapered toward a tip side and to be fitted into the through hole. The embossed portion includes a straight base end portion continuous with the planar portion and extending vertically with respect to the planar portion toward the tip side of the embossed portion, and an opening is at a tip of the embossed portion.

An exposing unit includes a holding member, an abutting pin protruding on both sides in the vertical direction at the rear side of the holding member, a second support portion provided further to the rear side than the holding member, and a movement mechanism that causes the holding member to move between an exposure position and a retracted position. The second support portion has a gap formed where the rear side of the holding member moves in the vertical direction, and this gap restricts movement of the holding member in the left-and-right direction. The holding member that is moved from the retracted position toward the exposure position by the movement mechanism is guided by the gap formed in the second support portion so that the abutting pin abuts a fitting portion.

Provided is a locking mechanism in which when the urging force of an urging member is larger than the magnetic force of a magnet in the non-excited state, a plunger can be held at a first position, and when the urging force of the urging member is smaller than the magnetic force of the magnet in the non-excited state, the plunger can be held at a second position.

The image forming apparatus, in the case where the image forming apparatus determines that a replaceable unit is replaced in a first state in which removal of the replaceable unit is inhibited, performs control to switch from the first state to a second state in which removal of the replaceable unit is allowed.

An image forming apparatus includes a groove, an exposure device and an adjustment member. In the groove, a rotation shaft of a photosensitive drum is inserted. The exposure device is configured to emit a laser light on the photosensitive drum to form an electrostatic latent image. The adjustment member is configured to shift the rotation shaft vertically in the groove to adjust a skew of the laser light.
