According to an embodiment, an open and close detection device is provided with a moving member, a first lever, a second lever, and the like. The moving member is held to be movable by a holding member within a planar area including an initial position and a detection position. Each of the first lever and the second lever includes a contact guide section, and moves the moving member in association with a closing operation of an open and close member. Also, when one of the first lever and the second lever is to move the moving member, this movement is guided by the contact guide section of the other lever.

In a state where the opening/closing member is positioned in the opened position, a whole of the lifting member is positioned an outside of the movement locus.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing having an opening, a cover configured to open the opening in an open state and to close the opening in a close state, a photosensitive drum, a heater, a fan configured to force air out of the housing, and a controller. The cover in the open state is configured to allow a sheet with a toner image fixed thereon to be ejected through the opening. The heater is configured to heat a sheet to fix a toner image on the sheet, and is located between the cover in the close state and the photosensitive drum. During execution of a printing process, the controller is configured to cause the fan to rotate at a first speed if the cover is in the closed state, and to rotate at a second speed lower than the first speed if the cover is in the open state.

Recording apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a lower unit including a recording unit that performs recording on a medium, and an upper unit including a reading unit that reads a document image, the upper unit being disposed above the lower unit and being configured to open and close with respect to the lower unit. The upper unit includes an arm that maintains an open state of the upper unit by being supported by the lower unit. The lower unit has a cam groove that receives a protrusion disposed on the arm and that has a route along which the protrusion moves in a certain direction when the upper unit opens or closes. A recess that the protrusion enters and that supports the protrusion from below is disposed in the cam groove and the open state of the upper unit is maintained by the protrusion entering the recess.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus cover, first and second exposure units, and an orientation setting mechanism. The apparatus cover opens or closes by pivoting about a rotation fulcrum with respect to an apparatus body. The first exposure unit is disposed at a first position, on an inner surface, spaced apart from the rotation fulcrum. The second exposure unit is disposed at a second position, on the inner surface, closer than the first position to the rotation fulcrum. The orientation setting mechanism sets an orientation of the first exposure unit to a first direction approaching the apparatus body in a closed state. The orientation setting mechanism sets it to a second direction further away than the first direction from the rotation fulcrum and sets the orientation of the second exposure unit to a third direction between the first and second directions when the opening angle is a first angle.

A center of rotation of the development roller is located in a position shifted from a line segment connecting a center of rotation of the coupling joint and a center of rotation of the photoconductor drum to an upstream side with respect to a direction of rotation of the coupling joint as viewed in an axial direction of the development roller, such that the development roller is pressed against the photoconductor drum by the action of the rotatory force received by the coupling joint.

The first pressing portion is provided on the outer cover and, when the outer cover is closed in a state where the inner cover is opened, comes into contact with and presses the inner cover in a closing direction. When the inner cover is closed, the restricting portion is engaged with the inner cover at a lock position located on an upstream side of a predetermined closing position of the inner cover in the closing direction, and restricts opening of the inner cover.
