A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a developing roller, a drum unit containing the drum, a developing unit containing the roller and being movable so the roller contacts and is spaced from the drum, and a first force receiver receiving a force from a main-assembly first force applier by movement of a door from open to closed positions when mounting the cartridge and a second force receiver movable from a stand-by position by movement of the first force receiver by a force received from the first force applier. The second force receiver takes a projected position receiving a force from the second force applier to move the developing unit so the roller moves out of contact with the drum, the projected position being higher than the stand-by position.

An image forming apparatus includes a main assembly having an opening; a supporting member for dismountably supporting a cartridge for forming an image on a recording material, the supporting member being movable between an inside position and an outside position through the opening; an openable member configured to open and close the opening; and a connecting member configured to connect the openable member and the main assembly with each other, the connecting member being provided with a movement regulating portion configured to regulate movement of the supporting member placed in the outside position in a state that the openable member opens the opening.

A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a developing roller, a drum unit containing the drum, a developing unit containing the roller and being movable so the roller contacts and is spaced from the drum, and a first force receiver receiving a force from a main-assembly first force applier by movement of a door from open to closed positions when mounting the cartridge and a second force receiver movable from a stand-by position by movement of the first force receiver by a force received from the first force applier. The second force receiver takes a projected position receiving a force from the second force applier to move the developing unit so the roller moves out of contact with the drum, the projected position being higher than the stand-by position.

Disclosed herein is an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes a light scanning unit including a light source which generates light to form an electrostatic latent image by applying the light onto the photoreceptor, and a window through which the light generated by the light source is transmitted, a shutter unit which opens and closes the window, a plurality of pressing units which are provided to allow pressing the developing unit and the shutter unit for an operation of attaching or detaching the developing roller to or from the photoreceptor and an operation of opening and closing the shutter unit and are disposed and spaced in a longitudinal direction, and an operating unit movably provided between an operating position at which a pressing force of the plurality of pressing units is generated, and a standby position at which the pressing force is released. By this configuration, an operation of opening and closing the shutter unit is allowed to link with an operation of attaching or detaching the developing roller to or from the photoreceptor.

A cartridge unit to discharge toner via a toner outlet and an electrophotographic image forming apparatus are provided. The cartridge unit includes a shutter unit movable between an opening position in which the toner outlet is opened and a closing position in which the toner outlet is closed in a first direction, and a lever unit movable in a second direction across the first direction, and connected to the shutter unit such that the shutter unit moves in the first direction when the lever unit moves in the second direction.

An image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes a chassis having a first opening on a first side, photosensitive members, an intermediate transfer belt arranged to have a surface thereof facing the photosensitive members, primary-transfer members, a secondary-transfer roller, a first feed roller, a cleaner device, a waste toner container, which is removably installed in the chassis through the first opening and settled in a position opposite from the photosensitive members across the intermediate transfer belt, a connector, a first feeding path extending in a range between the first feed roller and the secondary-transfer roller, and a second feeding path being formed in clearance between the intermediate transfer belt and the waste toner container to convey a recording sheet being inserted through a sheet inlet and merging into the first feeding path in the vicinity of the first feed roller.

An image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes a chassis having a first opening on a first side, photosensitive members, an intermediate transfer belt arranged to have a surface thereof facing the photosensitive members, primary-transfer members, a secondary-transfer roller, a first feed roller, a cleaner device, a waste toner container, which is removably installed in the chassis through the first opening and settled in a position opposite from the photosensitive members across the intermediate transfer belt, a connector, a first feeding path extending in a range between the first feed roller and the secondary-transfer roller, and a second feeding path being formed in clearance between the intermediate transfer belt and the waste toner container to convey a recording sheet being inserted through a sheet inlet and merging into the first feeding path in the vicinity of the first feed roller.

A cover opening/closing mechanism includes an opening/closing cover, a moving member, a first biasing member, a gear, and a damper. The opening/closing cover is pivotable about a rotary shaft. The moving member, as the opening/closing cover is opened and closed, reciprocates, while in contact with the opening/closing cover, in a first positive direction and a first negative direction. The first biasing member biases in the first positive direction the moving member that moves in the first negative direction as the opening/closing cover is rotated in the closing direction. The gear is coupled with the opening/closing cover. The damper generates a load according to the rotation speed of the gear.

An image forming apparatus includes a front cover and a maintenance cover. The front cover has a support section, an interference section, and a projection. The support section is supported by a housing of the image forming apparatus so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis. The interference section extends rearward from an edge of the front cover. The projection is located on a contact surface that comes in or out of contact with a specific section of the maintenance cover as the front cover is closed or opened with the maintenance cover in a closed state. The specific section of the maintenance cover has a hole. The projection fits in the hole.

An image forming apparatus is provided.
