A totagram is produced by an iterative spectral phase recovery process resulting in complete information recovery using special masks, without a reference beam. Using these special masking systems reduce computation time, number of masks, and number of iterations. The special masking system is (1) a unity mask together with one or more bipolar binary masks with elements equal to 1 and −1, or (2) a unity mask together with one or more phase masks, or (3) a unity mask together with one pair of masks or more than one pair of masks having binary amplitudes of 0's and 1's, in which the masks in the pair are complementary to each other with respect to amplitude, or (4) one or more pairs of complementary masks with binary amplitudes of 0's and 1's without a unity mask.

The present disclosure relates to a method for computing a holographic interference pattern for a holographic plane including pixels of an illuminated three-dimensional, 3D, scene having object points representing one or more 3D objects. The method involves: determining, for a respective object point, a total light component contributed by one or more light sources in the 3D scene; and calculating, for a respective pixel, a complex-valued amplitude based on the total light component of non-occluded object points within a viewing cone of the pixel, thereby deriving the holographic interference pattern. The present disclosure further relates to a computer program product implementing the method, a computer-readable storage medium comprising the computer program product and a data processing system for carrying out the method.

Deep computational holography

Techniques related to generating holographic images are discussed. Such techniques include application of a hybrid system including a pre-trained deep neural network and a subsequent iterative process using a suitable propagation model to generate diffraction pattern image data for a target holographic image such that the diffraction pattern image data is to generate a holographic image when implemented via a holographic display.

Holographic display apparatus and operating method thereof

A holographic display apparatus and a holographic display method are provided. The holographic display apparatus determines a representative depth from 3D image data; calculates a computer generated hologram (CGH) corresponding to the representative depth on the 3D image data; obtains the modulated CGH by modulating a phase of the CGH to increase an eye box; modulates a light according to the modulated CGH and generates a hologram image; and forms the generated hologram image at the representative depth.

Method and apparatus for processing holographic image

Provided are methods of processing a holographic image and apparatuses using the methods. A method includes obtaining image data with respect to a three-dimensional (3D) object, obtaining interference patterns in a computer-generated hologram (CGH) plane by performing a Fourier transform on the image data, and generating a CGH with respect to the 3D object based on the interference patterns, wherein the Fourier transform is performed based on a focal length of an eye lens of an observer.

Holographic projection

A holographic projector comprises an image processing engine, a hologram engine, a display engine and a light source. The image processing engine is arranged to receive a source image for projection and generate a plurality of secondary images from a primary image based on the source image. The source image comprises pixels. Each secondary image may comprise fewer pixels than the source image. The plurality of secondary images are generated by sampling the primary image. The hologram engine is arranged to determine, such as calculate, a hologram corresponding to each secondary image to form a plurality of holograms. The display engine is arranged to display each hologram on the display device. The light source is arranged to Illuminate each hologram during display to form a holographic reconstruction corresponding to each secondary image on a replay plane. The primary image is selected from the group comprising: the source image and an intermediate image
