The image data comprises three-dimensional image data that is separable into a plurality of two-dimensional image layers at different image planes. The processor is configured to: a) perform a space-frequency transform on each image layer to provide a transformed image layer, b) apply a focus factor to each transformed image layer, c) apply a pseudo-random phase factor to each transformed image layer, and d) sum the transformed image layers to form a holographic sub-frame, e) repeat steps (c) and (d) for a plurality of iterations, applying a different pseudo-random phase factor to the transformed image layers in each iteration to form a plurality of holographic sub-frames; and f) drive a spatial light modulator with the holographic sub-frames in rapid temporal succession to generate a holographic image.

DEEP COMPUTATIONAL HOLOGRAPHY

Techniques related to generating holographic images are discussed. Such techniques include application of a hybrid system including a pre-trained deep neural network and a subsequent iterative process using a sui table propagation model to generate diffraction pattern image data for a target holographic image such that the diffraction pattern image data is to generate a holographic image when implemented via a holographic display.

Image processing techniques using digital holographic microscopy

Digital holographic microscopy and related image processing techniques are described. A hologram captured in an image frame is split into different depths while a new hologram is being captured. Image slices of the hologram are determined and using free space impulse responses that are pre-calculated at a different precision than processing operations using the holographic data. Each computation is calculated in parallel based on the number of available processing cores and threads. The image slices are combined into a 2D array or 3D array to permit further processing of the combined array to count and size particles in the image frame. The reconstructed hologram is displayed at a subsequent image frame than that used to capture the hologram.

A totagram is produced by an iterative spectral phase recovery process resulting in complete information recovery using special masks, without a reference beam. Using these special masking systems reduce computation time, number of masks, and number of iterations. The special masking system is (1) a unity mask together with one or more bipolar binary masks with elements equal to 1 and ?1, or (2) a unity mask together with one or more phase masks, or (3) a unity mask together with one pair of masks or more than one pair of masks having binary amplitudes of 0's and 1's, in which the masks in the pair are complementary to each other with respect to amplitude, or (4) one or more pairs of complementary masks with binary amplitudes of 0's and 1's without a unity mask.

Fast generation of digital holograms
10168667 · 2019-01-01 · ·

Fast processing of information represented in digital holograms is provided to facilitate generating a hologram for displaying three-dimensional (3-D) holographic images representative of a 3-D object scene on a display device. A holographic generator component (HGC) can receive or generate visual images, comprising depth and parallax information, of a 3-D object scene. A hologram processor component can apply a first non-uniform transform to a visual image to generate a first signal, and can apply a second transform to the first signal to generate a second signal that corresponds to a hologram that represents the 3-D object scene. The hologram can be illuminated with a light beam to facilitate generating a holographic image(s) that can be a reconstructed image that reconstructs the 3-D object scene. A display component can display the holographic image(s) for viewing by an observer.
