System for testing and/or training the vision of a user

A system for testing and/or training the vision of a user is disclosed herein. The system includes at least one camera, a visual display device having an output screen, and a data processing device operatively coupled to the at least one camera and the visual display device. In one embodiment, the data processing device is programmed to determine a head position, head velocity, and/or head speed of a user during a vision test or vision training routine from a plurality of images of the head of the user captured by the at least one camera. In another embodiment, the data processing device is programmed to determine, based upon an input signal received from a user input device, a contrast display setting for a screen background relative to at least one visual target, the contrast display setting enabling the user to gradually adapt to increasing levels of visual stimulation.

Systems, catheters, and methods for accessing and treating along the central nervous system are disclosed. An example method may manage inflammation of the patient to treat a condition of the patient by processing values related to one or more physiological parameters of a patent, identifying when an inflammation condition of the patient has reached a treatment condition based on the processed values, and automatically providing an indication that the inflammation condition has reached the treatment condition. An example indication may include actuation of a treatment protocol. The example method may be performed with an inflammation management system.

Method and system for determining brain-state dependent functional areas of unitary pooled activity and associated dynamic networks with functional magnetic resonance imaging

A method for identifying brain-state dependent functional areas of unitary pooled activity (FAUPAs) using a statistical model that does not require a priori knowledge of the activity-induced ideal response signal time course is provided. A system for identifying a functional network in a brain of a living object includes a FAUPA identifier configured to identify FAUPAs by analyzing a plurality of images of the brain over a predetermined period. The plurality of images include a plurality of voxels, and the FAUPA identifier analyzes each voxel of the plurality of voxels in relation to one or more surrounding voxels of each voxel until each voxel of the plurality of voxels is evaluated. A brain network identification module configured to construct the functional network based on the identified FAUPAs that are functionally connected. A display module configured to display images of the brain depicting the FAUPAs included in the functional network.

Method for measuring water exchange across the blood-brain barrier using MRI

A method for measuring water exchange across the blood-brain barrier includes acquiring diffusion weighted (DW) arterial spin labeling (ASL) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signals. The method further includes determining optimal parameters to separate labeled water in capillary and brain tissue compartments. The method further includes estimating water exchange rate across the blood-brain barrier based on the DW ASL MRI signals and the optimal parameters, using a total generalized variation (TGV) regularized single-pass approximation (SPA) modeling algorithm.

Mouth guard having low-profile printed circuit board for sensing and notification of impact forces

A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.

System and method for region detection in tissue sections using image registration

A method and system for image-based region detection. Transformation matrices are computed by performing image registration between a target image and each of one or more reference images. Each transformation matrix is for transforming each of the reference images into a coordinate system of the target image. An optimal reference image is selected from among the reference images based on similarity measures between the target image and each reference image. The transformation matrix of the selected reference image is applied to a reference map associated with the reference image in order to generate a target map for the target image. The target map includes region labels indicating regions shown in the target image.

Brain monitoring system

Systems and methods capture light reflected back from a patient's fundus and compares the resulting images to prior images, to determine if the patient is experiencing intraocular inflammation or atrophy.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR STIMULATING NEURAL ACTIVITY

A method and apparatus for stimulating neural activity in the brain of a user of an apparatus with a display screen by causing at least one portion of the display screen to flicker in a controlled manner and utilizing the apparatus to measure an effect on a user exposed to the flicker for a time.

Brain Impact Sensor and Methods of Using the Same
20230380751 · 2023-11-30 ·

A brain impact sensor apparatus comprises a sensor attached to a processor/controller that is held close to the top of a user's head. The sensor records vibrations caused by movement of the user. Specifically, as a user walks, runs, or otherwise carries on daily activities, the impacts of the user's gait is recorded in the sensor apparatus held close to the top of the user's head. Thus, the sensor and processor/controller are configured to record repetitive vibrations caused by the user's gait. Analysis of the recorded vibrations may aid in diagnosing disease or may aid in recovery via physical therapy. Methods of using the same are further provided.
