Volumetric Induction Phase Shift Detection System for Determining Tissue Water Content Properties
20220287583 · 2022-09-15 ·

A method and apparatus of determining the condition of a bulk tissue sample, by: positioning a bulk tissue sample between a pair of induction coils (or antennae); passing a spectrum of alternating current (or voltage) through a first of the induction coils (or antennae); measuring spectrum of alternating current (or voltage) produced in the second of the induction coils (or antennae); and comparing the phase shift between the spectrum of alternating currents (or voltages) in the first and second induction coils (or antennae), thereby determining the condition of the bulk tissue sample.

Microwave Tomography System

A novel medical imaging system that is based on radio-wave signals at microwave frequencies and has unique properties. The system can be used for various diagnostic applications such as breast cancer detection, brain stroke detection, and assessment of internal bleeding (trauma emergencies).

Monitoring and regulating physiological states and functions via sensory neural inputs to the spinal cord

Methods and apparatuses for monitoring and regulating physiological states and functions are disclosed. Several embodiments include application of one or more microelectrode arrays to a dorsal root ganglion for measurement of sensory neuron activity, or stimulation of sensory reflex circuits. The methods and apparatuses can be used, for example, for monitoring or controlling bladder function in a patient.

Left and right brain recognition method and device

The present application provides a left and right brain recognition method and device, and relates to the field of wearable devices. The method comprises: in response to that a user listens to an audio content meeting a predetermined condition, acquiring first brain electrical information of a first hemisphere of the user; and recognizing that the first hemisphere is a left brain or a right brain according to the first brain electrical information and reference information. The method and the device provide a left and right brain recognition method, facilitate a device that the user wears to perform automatic setting according to a recognition result, and enhance user experience.

NEUOROLOGICAL CONDITION DETECTION UNIT AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
20220257169 · 2022-08-18 ·

A neurological condition detection unit can include a computer device that is connected to at least two leads that are connectable to a patient for evoking a response from that patient via an electrical current passed through the leads (e.g. a shock) and at plurality of sensors connected to the computer device to sense how the left side and right side of the patient's brain reacts to the evoked event (e.g. the shock). The stroke detection device and/or neurological condition detection unit can be configured to output a warning when one side of the patient's brain is determined to react differently than the opposite side of the patient's brain by at least a pre-selected threshold value. The warning can include an identification of a nearby care facility that may be best suited for providing care to a patient determined to have a neurological condition (e.g. a stroke).

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STIMULATING AND/OR MONITORING LOCI IN THE BRAIN TO TREAT INFLAMMATION AND TO ENHANCE VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION
20220257941 · 2022-08-18 ·

Described herein are methods and systems for using EEG recordings to improve vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy. In particular, described herein are methods and systems for using EEG recordings to detect P300 and/or activation of the nucleus basalis and/or the locus coeruleus to determine the efficacy of VNS. The EEG recordings can be used to provide feedback control to help optimize stimulation parameters and to screen for patients that respond well to VNS therapy.

Non-invasive brain water monitoring device for cerebral edema and cerebral autoregulation monitoring system and method

A system, device and methods for quantitatively monitoring and evaluating changes in water and hemoglobin content in the brain in a non-invasive manner are provided. The system may be used for real-time detection and monitoring of brain edema and/or for an assessment of cerebral autoregulation.

AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE INSURANCE BASED UPON USAGE

Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, a computer-implemented method for generating or updating usage-based insurance policies for autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles may be provided. A request to generate an insurance quote may be received via wireless communication, and with the customer's permission, risk levels associated with intended usage by the customer of an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be determined. An insurance policy may be adjusted based upon the risk levels and the intended vehicle usage. The insurance policy may then be presented on the customer's mobile device for review and approval. In some aspects, the vehicle may be rented, and the intended vehicle usage is measured in distance or duration of vehicle operation. Insurance discounts may be provided to risk averse vehicle owners based upon low risk levels.

IMPLANT, ENSEMBLE COMPRISING SUCH AN IMPLANT AND METHOD FOR FABRICATING SUCH AN IMPLANT

The present invention relates to an implant adapted to be implanted at least partially in a biological tissue (20). Today's implants remain very susceptible to mechanical damage. The inventors have thus developed an implant having a greater reliability in terms of resistance to mechanical stress than existing implants, while allowing for easy connection with different parts of a biological tissue. This implant comprises an implant body (30) and a set of electrically conductive wires (55), each wire (55) comprising a first portion (65) electrically connected to the body (30), a second portion (70) and a third portion (75) intended to be electrically connected to the tissue (20), The implant (10) comprises a set of arms (25) comprising each an insulating sheath (60) and a bundle (52) of wires (55), each bundle (52) comprising at least two subsets (62) of wires (55).

METHODS AND MAGNETIC IMAGING DEVICES TO INVENTORY HUMAN BRAIN CORTICAL FUNCTION

Techniques are described for determining cognitive impairment, an example of which includes accessing a set of epochs of magnetoencephalography (MEG) data of responses of a brain of a test patient to a plurality of auditory stimulus events; processing the set of epochs to identify parameter values one or more of which is based on information from the individual epochs without averaging or otherwise collapsing the epoch data. The parameter values are input into a model that is trained based on the parameters to determine whether the test patient is cognitively impaired.
