Various embodiments of the teachings herein include a method for controlling an integrated energy system. The method may include: determining the topological structure of an integrated energy system, the topological structure representing devices of the integrated energy system and connection attributes between the devices; determining general models of the devices and a connector model corresponding to the connection attributes; connecting the general models by means of the connector model so as to form a simulation model of the integrated energy system; training the simulation model; and generating a control command of the integrated energy system on the basis of the trained simulation model.

A computer-implemented learning method for optimizing a control policy controlling a system is provided. The method includes receiving states of the system being operated for a specific task, initializing the control policy as a function approximator including neural networks, collecting state transition and reward data using a current control policy, estimating an advantage function and a state visitation frequency based on the current control policy, updating the current control policy using the second-order approximation of the objective function, a second-order approximation of the KL-divergence constraint on the permissible change in the policy using a quasi-newton trust region policy optimization, and determining an optimal control policy, for controlling the system, based on the average reward accumulated using the updated current control policy.

According to one embodiment, there is provided herein a system and method for producing a well lifecycle lift plan that includes considerations of multiple types of lift, multiple lift configurations associated with each lift type, and can be used to provide a prediction of when or if it would be desirable to change the lift plan at some time in the future. Another embodiment utilizes a heuristic database with rules that might be used to limit the solution space in some instances by restricting the solution to feasible configurations. A further embodiment teaches how multiple individual well optimization results might be combined with a reservoir model to obtain an optimized lift schedule for an entire field.

A method of controlling a dynamic physical system comprising a plurality of variable quantities. A model of the system comprising a plurality of variables representing the variable quantities, and a plurality of respective rate equations that describe the rate of change of the variables, is obtained. A control term in at least one rate equation from the plurality of rate equations is identified. A rate control function is derived from, for at least one of the variables in the rate equation, the proportion of the variable to the growth rate of the rate equation, and the rate control function is applied to the control term to provide a stabilized control term. The dynamic physical system is then controlled by modifying at least one of the quantities represented by the variables in the control term, so that the control term derived from the modified quantities is substantially the same as the stabilized control term.
