20180011463 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A device for determining normalized occupancy of one or more spaces in a building is disclosed. The device includes a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to: poll one or more people counting sensors associated with access points to a defined region of the building to obtain counts data from the one or more people counting sensors for a specified time period and historical calibration data for the one or more people counting sensors; and process the counts data and the historical calibration data to determine a normalized occupancy of the defined region during the specified time period.

ADVANCED PROCESS CONTROL METHODS FOR PROCESS-AWARE DIMENSION TARGETING

Disclosed are methods of advanced process control (APC) for particular processes. A particular process (e.g., a photolithography or etch process) is performed on a wafer to create a pattern of features. A parameter is measured on a target feature and the value of the parameter is used for APC. However, instead of performing APC based directly on the actual parameter value, APC is performed based on an adjusted parameter value. Specifically, an offset amount (which is previously determined based on an average of a distribution of parameter values across all of the features) is applied to the actual parameter value to acquire an adjusted parameter value, which better represents the majority of features in the pattern. Performing this APC method minimizes dimension variations from pattern to pattern each time the same pattern is generated on another region of the same wafer or on a different wafer using the particular process.

A pet toy, in combination, including a containment structure having a longitudinal axis and cross section defining an interior volume. The containment structure, which is preferably collapsible, includes a plurality of containment openings along its longitudinal axis exposing the interior volume to a pet during use of the pet toy, and an electronic component in the form of a hollow shell having a shell opening configured therein. A motor having a rotatable shaft extends toward the opening. A power supply for powering the motor and optional microprocessor, the motor, microprocessor and power supply being supported within the interior of the hollow shell. An attractant is affixed to the rotatable shaft and extends through the shell opening, the microprocessor being programmed to control operation of the motor to cause the attractant to rotate intermittently, the electronic component and attractant being visible to a pet during use of the pet toy.

FORECAST-BASED AUTOMATIC SCHEDULING OF A DISTRIBUTED NETWORK OF THERMOSTATS WITH LEARNED ADJUSTMENT
20180010818 · 2018-01-11 · ·

Heating and cooling systems at various geographical locations are controlled by a central energy management service unit to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures. In some weather conditions, people may intuitively prefer a slightly warmer or cooler indoor temperature. In systems equipped with environmental learning capabilities, an apparent outdoor temperature is determined based on the geographic location itself, the season at the geographic location, the forecasted actual temperature, and one or more seasonal weather factors such as wind velocity or humidity. The apparent temperature and a trained machine learning system are used to select an automated schedule for the geographic location to be directly transmitted to devices at the location. The automated schedule can vary from typical schedules by causing the heating and cooling systems to maintain a temperature that is slightly warmer or cooler than typical indoor temperatures.

MACHINE SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR OPTICAL ENDPOINT CONTROL OPTIMIZATION

Provided is a machine system having optical endpoint control and associated method for maintaining having is provided constant optical contact. Specifically, the machine system comprises a machine capable of movement in at least one direction. The machine is configured such that, during a calibration phase, a steerable retroreflective system is mounted upon the machine for movement therewith. A controller is configured to control the movement of the machine in at least one direction. The machine system may be configured to automatically adjust the feedrate of the machine, upon determining that a velocity required for the positioner to move the retroreflector to a desired position exceeds a certain segment feedrate threshold, such that an incident beam of light can maintain constant contact with the retroreflector throughout movement of the machine from the first position to the second position.

Method for implementing power delivery transaction for potential electrical output of integrated renewable energy source and energy storage system facility

Methods for implementing power delivery transactions between a buyer and a seller of electrical energy supplied to an electrical grid by an integrated renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS) of a RES-ESS facility are provided. Estimated total potential output of the RES is compared to a point of grid interconnect (POGI) limit to identify potential RES overgeneration, and the buyer is charged if potential RES overgeneration is less than potential overgeneration during one or more retrospective time windows. The method provides a basis for the RES-ESS facility owner to be paid for an estimated amount of energy that did not get stored as a result of a grid operator not fully discharging an ESS prior to the start of a new day.

Adaptive power management recognition and assignment system

A method and controller for controlling electrical activation of elements in a system. A method includes identifying (710) a first element (102) of a system (100) by a control system (600), among a plurality of elements (102, 110, 122) of the system (100), that is to be powered. The method includes determining (712) connected elements (110, 122) of the system (100) by the control system (600). The connected elements (110, 122) are connected to deliver power to the first element (102) directly or indirectly, based on an adjacency matrix (400), and the adjacency matrix (400) identifies connections between each of plurality of elements of the system (100). The method includes identifying (714) at least one of the connected elements (110, 122) to activate by the control system (600), based on the adjacency matrix (400), a health table (500), and the connected elements (110, 122), to deliver power to the first element (102). The method includes activating (716) the at least one of the connected elements (110, 122) by the control system (600), thereby delivering power to the first element (102).
