Modifying robot dynamics in response to human presence

A robot system models the behavior of a user when the user occupies an operating zone associated with a robot. The robot system predicts future behaviors of the user, and then determines whether those predicted behaviors interfere with anticipated behaviors of the robot. When such interference may occur, the robot system generates dynamics adjustments that can be implemented by the robot to avoid such interference. The robot system may also generate dynamics adjustments that can be implemented by the user to avoid such interference.

A distance-measuring system includes: a first ranging sensor; a second ranging sensor that covers a detection range more limited than a detection range covered by the first ranging sensor and has resolution higher than resolution of the first ranging sensor; and an image processing device. The image processing device includes: a machine detector that detects a position of a mobile machine, based on a first sensed result obtained by the first ranging sensor; a sensor controller that controls a detection position to be detected by the second ranging sensor to detect the position of the mobile machine which has been detected; and a safety determiner that controls the mobile machine, based on a second sensed result obtained by the second ranging sensor.

User identity in household appliances

A system of household appliances is configured to provide services according to user identity. The system includes a first appliance, a server or other network device, and a second appliance. The first appliance is configured to collect sensor data associated with an identity of a user. The server or other network device is configured to receive the sensor data from the first appliance and analyze the sensor data to determine the identity of the user. The second appliance is configured to provide a device function to the user based on the identity determined from the sensor data collected by the first appliance.

A method includes obtaining a voltage or current signal associated with a component of a device and isolating and conditioning the voltage or current signal to generate an output signal. The method also includes processing the output signal to identify one or more surge events, where each surge event is associated with an excessive voltage or current experienced by the device. The method further includes generating information associated with the one or more surge events and transmitting or storing the information. The voltage or current signal could be obtained from a case or housing of the device, a cable coupled to the device, or an antenna coupled to the device. The information associated with the one or more surge events could include a date/time stamp, a severity, a duration, or a shape or profile of each surge event.
