A method and apparatus for transporting a payload carrying device is disclosed. The method comprises providing at least one payload carrying device, a vehicle for transporting the at least one payload carrying device, a connection device for connecting the vehicle and the at least one payload carrying device, at least one sensor device for capturing information regarding the vehicle's surrounding environment, and a control unit for operating the connection device autonomously to connect the vehicle and the at least one payload carrying device where, once connected, the weight of the at least one payload carrying device rests directly on the floor and the vehicle autonomously transports the at least one payload carrying device to a desired location, and operating the connection device autonomously to disconnect the vehicle and the at least one payload carrying device at the desired location where the at least one payload carrying device is immobilized.
Method for producing different products on a single production line
Methods for simultaneously producing different products on a single production line are disclosed. The method may be used to produce different fluent products and other types of products including assembled products. In some cases, the method includes providing a plurality of articles which are components of the products to be produced. The method further involves providing a track system and a plurality of vehicles for the articles. At least some of the vehicles may be independently routable around the track system. The method further includes simultaneously sending one article-loaded vehicle to a unit operation station where a step in the production of a product is performed and another article-loaded vehicle to a unit operation station where a step in the production of a different product is performed.

This is achieved by providing a method for tracking packages on a conveyor section, the method comprising the following steps: a) providing a conveyor section having a conveyor surface for conveying a sequence of packages, the conveyor section comprising at least one photoelectric barrier for detecting the packages, b) detecting a photoelectric barrier pattern by means of the photoelectric barrier, the photoelectric barrier pattern being caused by the sequence of packages, c) detecting a conveyor speed of at least one subsection of the conveyor section, d) estimating an event sequence which has with the highest probability caused the photoelectric barrier pattern, while taking into account the conveyor speed of the conveyor section, by means of an algorithm, the algorithm comprising the following further steps: e) compiling a list of possible event sequences, f) sorting the event sequences with the aid of their occurrence probability, g) extending the most probable event sequence by all possible consecutive events, the probability of the event sequence being determined for each extension, h) incorporating the extensions as a new event sequence into the list of event sequences, i) repeating steps g) to h) until the most probable event sequence fully reflects the detected photoelectric barrier pattern.

The controller is further operative to define a first zone for the first track segment, define a second zone for the first track segment, drive the first coil to control movement of the mover with the first set of controller gain values when the location of the axis is in the first zone, and drive the first coil to control movement of the mover with second set of controller gain values when the location of the axis is in the second zone.
