20200388974 · 2020-12-10 · ·

Methods and systems for monitoring a brush holder assembly and/or detecting wear of a brush in a brush holder assembly are disclosed. One method includes sending data from a plurality of remote monitoring locations to a central control unit, where the data may be evaluated in order to monitor states of brushes at a plurality of remote electrical facilities. For example, multiple images of a marker tracking longitudinal movement of the brush may be acquired. A comparison of the images, for example, a comparative imaging technique, such as pixel-by-pixel comparison, may then be performed in order to evaluate a condition of the brush, such as the wear rate, wear state, or life expectancy of the brush.

System and method for identifying correlated operator action events based on text analytics of operator actions

A method includes obtaining, from an event log, first text of an alarm associated with an industrial process in a process control system, and processing the first text to obtain first key terms. The method also includes obtaining, from the event log, second text of an operator response, and processing the second text to obtain second key terms. The method further includes filtering and segmenting at least one of the first key terms and the second key terms. The method also includes performing text matching on the first key terms and the second key terms to identify a correlation between the first text and the second text. In addition, the method includes storing the first text, the second text, and the correlation between the first text and the second text in a data store.

Embodiments of the disclosure relate to systems and methods for protecting a physical asset against an attack. In one exemplary embodiment, an asset protection system is configured to use a monitoring system to obtain performance parameters of a physical asset when the physical asset is in operation. The asset protection system is further configured to retrieve from a database, one or more threat signatures and to use the one or more threat signatures to detect an attack upon the physical asset, the detection based at least in part on identifying a relationship between at least one of the threat signatures and at least a portion of the performance parameters of the physical asset. When an attack is detected, a signal can be transmitted to a control system of the physical asset and/or directly to the physical asset, to modify an operation of the physical asset in response to the attack.

Providing a standard operating procedure associated with a monitoring system of a facility

Methods, devices, and systems for providing a standard operating procedure associated with a monitoring system of facility are described herein. One method includes determining a plurality of parameters associated with a facility having a monitoring system, accessing a library of SOP templates to determine a particular SOP template having a correlation with the plurality of parameters, allowing a user to create an SOP by customizing the particular SOP template, and associating the created SOP with the plurality of parameters.

Briefly, embodiments are directed to a system, method, and article for monitoring and diagnosing a status of one or more assets of a power grid system. Input data measurements and training data measurements from one or more data sources relating to the power grid system may be accessed or received. An offline training phase and an online monitoring and diagnosis phase may be performed. During the offline training phase, first features may be extracted from the training measurement data, one or more residual generation models may be trained using the extracted features as model inputs, and one or more residual-based classifiers may be trained. During the online monitoring and diagnosis phase, second features may be extracted from the input measurement data, one or more residuals may be generated based on the extracted second features, and a status of the one or more assets may be determined based on the one or more residuals, where the one or more residuals may comprise a difference between model predicted values and measured values from the one or more data sources. An output may be generated indicating the status of the one or more assets based on the classification of the status.
