Medical object detection and identification
An approach for improving determining a significant slice associated with a tumor from a volume of medical images is disclosed. The approach is based on the annotation of tumor range and the slice index in which the tumor appears to have the largest area. The approach infer a tumor growth classifier on sliding window of the volume slices and creates a discrete integral function out of the classifier predictions. The approach applies post processing on the discrete integral function which can include a smoothing function and a bias correction. The approach selects the slice index of maximum value from the post processing step.
Imaging planning apparatus and imaging planning method
An imaging planning apparatus according to one embodiment includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry obtains a first value of a first index that is related to an X-ray dose and a second value of a second index that is related to an image quality, based on an X-ray imaging condition of a subject set in a predetermined examination. The processing circuitry displays an association chart indicating an association between the first index and the second index on a display unit, displays an acceptable range of the first index and the second index, the acceptable range being based on information related to a diagnostic reference level corresponding to the predetermined examination, in a manner distinguished from a range other than the acceptable range in the association chart, and also displays a mark at a position corresponding to the first value and the second value in the association chart.
Contrast imaging agent with dissolved gas-evolving fluid
A diagnostic contrast composition includes a carrier fluid and a non-decaying gas-evolving fluid incorporated in the carrier fluid. The gas-evolving fluid has a vapor pressure sufficient to evolve the gas from a circulatory system within a lung of a patient. The gas-evolving fluid is a composition containing a sufficient quantity of atoms with an atomic number higher than 8 to provide an increased absorption sufficient to increase a Hounsfield Unit measurement in an image in a CT imaging system. The gas-evolving fluid is selected from the group consisting of xenon gas, krypton gas, sulfur hexafluoride, a perfluorocarbon, a brominated perfluorocarbon, and combinations thereof. The carrier fluid is selected from the group consisting of water, saline, saline comprising one or more blood proteins, and saline comprising dissolved lipids.
Method and data processing system for providing respiratory information
A method is for providing respiratory information. In an embodiment, the method includes receiving imaging data relating to a lung; calculating a perfusion fraction for each respective region of a set of regions of the lung, based on the imaging data; calculating a respective ventilation value for each respective region of the set of regions of the lung based on the imaging data; calculating a weighted average of respective ventilation values across all respective regions of the set of regions of the lung, wherein for each respective region of the set of regions of the lung, the respective ventilation value of the respective region is weighted with the perfusion fraction of the respective region; generating the respiratory information based on the weighted average of the respective ventilation values; and providing the respiratory information.
Predictive use of quantitative imaging
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for predicting a disease state of a subject using ultrasound imaging and ancillary information to the ultrasound imaging. At least two quantitative measurements of a subject, including at least one measurement taken using ultrasound imaging, as part of quantified information can be identified. One of the quantitative measurements can be compared to a first predetermined standard, included as part of ancillary information to the quantified information, in order to identify a first initial value. Further, another of the quantitative measurements can be compared to a second predetermined standard, included as part of the ancillary information, in order to identify a second initial value. Subsequently, the quantitative information can be correlated with the ancillary information using the first initial value and the second initial value to determine a final value that is predictive of a disease state of the subject.
Generating approximations of cardiograms from different source configurations
Systems are provided for generating data representing electromagnetic states of a heart for medical, scientific, research, and/or engineering purposes. The systems generate the data based on source configurations such as dimensions of, and scar or fibrosis or pro-arrhythmic substrate location within, a heart and a computational model of the electromagnetic output of the heart. The systems may dynamically generate the source configurations to provide representative source configurations that may be found in a population. For each source configuration of the electromagnetic source, the systems run a simulation of the functioning of the heart to generate modeled electromagnetic output (e.g., an electromagnetic mesh for each simulation step with a voltage at each point of the electromagnetic mesh) for that source configuration. The systems may generate a cardiogram for each source configuration from the modeled electromagnetic output of that source configuration for use in predicting the source location of an arrhythmia.
Systems and methods for numerically evaluating vasculature
Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a cardiovascular score for a patient. A method includes receiving, using at least one computer system, patient-specific data regarding a geometry of multiple coronary arteries of the patient; and creating, using at least one computer system, a three-dimensional model representing at least portions of the multiple coronary arteries based on the patient-specific data. The method also includes evaluating, using at least one computer system, multiple characteristics of at least some of the coronary arteries represented by the model; and generating, using at least one computer system, the cardiovascular score based on the evaluation of the multiple characteristics. Another method includes generating the cardiovascular score based on evaluated multiple characteristics for portions of the coronary arteries having fractional flow reserve values of at least a predetermined threshold value.

A computer readable storage medium encoded with computer readable instructions, which, when executed by a processor of a computing system, causes the processor to simulate a reference FFR value at a predetermined location along a segmented coronary vessel indicated by a predetermined reference location. A method including simulating a reference FFR value at a predetermined location along a segmented coronary vessel indicated by a predetermined reference location.
Light and shadow guided needle positioning system and method
The embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for light and shadow guided needle positioning. DICOM images of a patient are captured for identifying a point of insertion of a needle on the patient's body and a target point inside the patient's body. Needle coordinates are computed based on the captured DICOM images to position the mechanical arms. Light is projected at a particular angle on the needle to form shadows of the needle. Laser light beams are projected to form cross hair at the point of insertion. Images or videos of the point of insertion, shadow of the needle and the cross hair are captured and displayed on a monitoring unit. A virtual circle is projected on the displayed image and is aligned with the point of insertion, shadow of the needle and cross hair in order to insert the needle precisely.
