WEIGHTBEARING SIMULATION ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME TO IMAGE A SUBJECT
A weightbearing simulation assembly includes a substrate comprising a mounting surface extending in a first direction a subject support disposed on a first region of the mounting surface and a pedal assembly disposed on a second region of the mounting surface. The pedal assembly includes a spring assembly including a contact plate facing the subject support, a compression plate, and a first spring disposed between the contact plate and the compression plate. A subject applies a compressive force to the contact plate in a compression direction to simulate a load-bearing condition by compressing the first spring. An orientation of the pedal assembly may be adjusted to change a relative angle between the compression direction and the first direction to alter an imaging angle.
Imaging Systems and Methods for Image-Guided Radiosurgery
A self-shielded and computer controlled system for performing non-invasive stereotactic radiosurgery and precision radiotherapy using a linear accelerator mounted within a two degree-of-freedom radiation shield coupled to a three-degree of freedom patient table is provided. The radiation shield can include an axial shield rotatable about an axial axis and an oblique shield independently rotatable about an oblique axis, thereby providing improved range of trajectories of the therapeutic and diagnostic radiation beams. Such shields can be balanced about their respective axes of rotation and about a common support structure to facilitate ease of movement. Such systems can further include an imaging system to accurately deliver radiation to the treatment target and automatically make corrections needed to maintain the anatomical target at the system isocenter. Various subsystems to automate controlled and coordinated movement of the movable shield components and operation of the treatment related subsystems to optimize performance and ensure safety are also provided.
Imaging support apparatus, method, and program for detecting an abnormal site in a medical image
An abnormal site detection unit detects an abnormal site included in a medical image acquired based on radiation transmitted through a subject. A position specifying unit generates positional information for specifying a position of the abnormal site based on a feature point of the subject included in the medical image in a case where the abnormal site is detected in the medical image. An information generation unit generates additional imaging instruction information, including information that indicates a type of additional imaging based on the abnormal site and information that indicates the position of the abnormal site based on the positional information, for instructing at least one additional imaging.

Systems for immobilizing a patient are disclosed. The system includes at least one preform formed from a low melting temperature thermoplastic, the preform being configured to be formed to the anatomy of the patient, at least one frame coupled to the at least one preform, and at least one support configured to support the anatomy of the patient. The system also includes at least one lock mechanism coupled to at least one of the frame and the support and configured to couple the at least one frame to the at least one support, and at least one adjuster mechanism coupled to at least one of the at least one frame and the at least one support and configured to selectively adjust a distance between the at least one frame and the at least one support while the at least one frame is coupled to the at least one support.
X-ray imaging apparatus and patient support arrangement
The invention concerns an X-ray imaging apparatus for imaging a skull or a partial area of the skull, which apparatus comprises between the X-ray source and detector a patient support means (17). The patient support means (17) comprise a rear rest structure (170) containing a support part (171) arranged to get positioned at occipital area and whose connection to the X-ray apparatus is realized such that the support part (171) of the rear rest structure moves, when adjusting its position, on a line or on a plane whose angle with respect to the horizontal plane is between 15-25 degrees.
CRANIAL IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM
The present invention relates to a head immobilization system for immobilizing a patient's head in a supine position of the patient, the system comprising: a support rail structure adapted to be coupled to a patient rest and extending at least on both lateral sides of the patient's head, a mask frame adapted to be coupled to at least one deformable upper mask sheet, wherein the mask frame is releasably connected to the support rail structure via a first interface section and a second interface section, with at least two pins protruding from the first interface section in a first direction, and at least two pin-receptions provided at the second interface section, wherein each one of the pin-receptions receives one of the pins, and a catch-mechanism for each pin-reception and each corresponding pin, which allows the pin to be pushed further into the pin-reception in the first direction, but which interlocks in case of an attempted withdrawal of the pin from the pin-reception in a second, opposite direction.
Extra oral dental imaging apparatus with patient positioning accessory detection
Certain exemplary method and/or apparatus embodiments herein can include—a support frame, —a movable gantry that supports an x-ray source and an x-ray sensor in correspondence with the x-ray source and that is movable relative to the support frame, —a patient positioning accessory support member configured to support a patient positioning accessory of a specific type that is adapted to be used in the apparatus for conducting a specific examination on a patient, where the patient positioning accessory comprises at least one passive identification element that identifies the specific type of the patient positioning accessory, and the apparatus further comprises an active identification system that is configured to cooperate with the at least one passive identification element of the patient positioning accessory in order to identify the specific type of the patient positioning accessory.
Bite block for CBCT imaging device
An extra-oral dental imaging apparatus can obtain a radiographic image of a portion of a head of a patient. Exemplary dental apparatus and/or method embodiments can position a subject for dental radiographic imaging by providing a bitable dental arch mounting apparatus to offset the antero-posterior plane of the dental imaging apparatus and the plane of symmetry of the dental arch mounting apparatus. In one embodiment, the offset can be provided by a tilted dental arch mounting apparatus (e.g., relative to the horizontal).
Multi-color charged particle detector apparatus and method of use thereof
The invention comprises a method and apparatus for using a multi-layer multi-color scintillation based detector element to image a tumor of a patient using a process of determining residual energies of positively charged particles after passing through the patient, the process comprising the steps of: (1) transmitting the positively charged particles at known energies through the patient and into a multi-layer detector element; (2) detecting first and second secondary photons, resultant from passage of the positively charged particles, respectively from a first layer of a first scintillation material and a second layer of a second scintillation material at two respective layer depths, where the first wavelength range differs from the second wavelength range; (4) determining residual energies of the positively charged particles, using output from the step of detecting; and (5) relating the residual energies to body densities to generate an image.
System for neuronavigation registration and robotic trajectory guidance, robotic surgery, and related methods and devices
A system for robotic surgery makes use of an end-effector which has been configured so that any selected one of a group of surgical tools may be selectively connected to such end-effector. The end-effector makes use of a tool-insert locking mechanism which secures a selected one of the surgical tools at not only a respective, predetermined height and angle of orientation, but also at a rotational position relative to an anatomical feature of the patient. The tool-insert locking mechanism may include interchangeable inserts to interconnect multiple tools to the same end-effector. In this way, different robotic operations may be accomplished with less reconfiguration of the end-effector. The end-effector may also include a tool stop which has a sensor associated with a moveable stop mechanism which may be positioned to selectively inhibit tool insertion or end-effector movement.
