A breast imaging system comprises: a wide area tissue receptacle adapted to be coupled to an imaging apparatus, the imaging apparatus having an imaging volume, the wide area tissue receptacle defining a wide area tissue volume, the wide area tissue volume at least partially intersecting the imaging volume to form a wide area tissue imaging volume, the wide area tissue receptacle having an opening that is sufficiently wide to accept an entire breast into the wide area tissue receptacle, the wide area tissue receptacle having a sealing interface below the opening adapted to create a seal between tissue and the wide area tissue receptacle; and a pump coupled to the wide area tissue receptacle, the pump adapted to apply negative pressure to the wide area tissue volume to form the seal between the sealing interface and the tissue, and the pump further adapted to apply negative pressure to pull the breast into the wide area tissue volume, a diagnostic volume being defined as a portion of the breast intersecting the wide area tissue imaging volume.

MAMMOGRAPHY APPARATUS

Apparatus for diagnosing breast cancer, the apparatus comprising a controller having a set of instructions executable to: acquire a contrast enhanced region of interest (CE-ROI) in an X-ray image of a patient's breast, the X-ray image comprising X-ray pixels that indicate intensity of X-rays that passed through the breast to generate the image; determine a texture neighborhood for each of a plurality of X-ray pixels in the CE-ROI, the texture neighborhood for a given X-ray pixel of the plurality of X-ray pixels extending to a bounding pixel radius of BPR pixels from the given pixel; generate a texture feature vector (TF) having components based on the indications of intensity provided by a plurality of X-ray pixels in the CE-ROI that are located within the texture neighborhood; and use a classifier to classify the texture feature vector TF to determine whether the CE-ROI is malignant

According to one embodiment, a mammography apparatus includes: a breast placement stage on which a breast is placed; a compression plate that compresses the breast placed on the breast placement stage; a supporting arm that supports the breast placement stage in such a manner that the stage can be tilted; and processing circuitry that controls driving of the compression plate in such a manner that the breast placed on the breast placement stage tilted by the supporting arm is supported from below and compressed.

CT systems for imaging of the breast

In example embodiments, a CT imaging system is provided comprising opposing x-ray generation and x-ray detector assemblies and a motion mechanism configured for simultaneously rotationally orbiting the x-ray generation and x-ray detector assemblies around a patient's anatomy along a main axis of rotation of the imaging system while rotationally oscillating the x-ray generation and x-ray detector assemblies about a spinning oscillation axis which is perpendicular to both the main axis of rotation and to a transmission axis extending between the x ray generation and detector assemblies. Further improvements related to a patient support platform and a biopsy attachment are also described herein.

Dedicated breast computed tomography system

Disclosed herein is a computed tomography system, comprising: a table with a hole therein, wherein the table is configured to support a person lying face down thereon, with at least one of the person's breasts projecting through the hole; an X-ray source; an X-ray detector comprising a plurality of pixels; wherein the X-ray source is configured to rotate around the at least one of the person's breasts.

A device and methods for performing a simulated CT biopsy on a region of interest on a patient. The device comprises a gantry (22) configured to mount an x-ray emitter (24) and CT detector (26) on opposing sides of the gantry, a motor (28) rotatably coupled to the gantry such that the gantry rotates horizontally about the region of interest, and a high resolution x-ray detector (172) positioned adjacent the CT detector in between the CT detector and the x-ray emitter.

Breast cancer diagnosis device

The present invention relates to a breast cancer diagnosis device. More particularly, the present invention relates to a breast cancer diagnosis device for early detection of the presence or absence of breast cancer lesions inside the breast of a diagnosis subject. The breast cancer diagnosis device includes: an X-ray diagnosis unit generating an X-ray image of a diagnosis subject; an optical diagnosis unit generating an optical transmission image of the diagnosis subject; and a transfer unit which is coupled to the X-ray diagnosis unit and the optical diagnosis unit to transfer all or part of the X-ray diagnosis unit and the optical diagnosis unit, and sequentially transfer all or part of the X-ray diagnosis unit or the optical diagnosis unit toward the diagnosis subject.

COMPRESSION ARM DEVICES AND METHODS

A compression arm device for compressing a breast in an imaging system with a compression paddle. The compression arm device includes a drive for moving the compression paddle towards the breast such that the drive provides a variable resistance during a contact of the compression paddle with the breast.

BREAST COMPRESSION AND IMAGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A compression paddle with a plurality of markers is advanced towards a patients breast which has been positioned on a support platform for an imaging procedure. An initial position of the compression paddle is detected relative to the support platform when a portion of the breast is contacted. An initial marker is identified which is associated with a feature of the breast when the compression paddle is in the initial position. A compression target marker is based at least in part on the initial position and the initial marker.
