AUTOMATIC CONTROL AND ENHANCEMENT OF 4D ULTRASOUND IMAGES
A method includes emitting an ultrasound beam, having a predefined field of view (FOV), from an array of ultrasound transducers in a catheter in an organ of a patient. Echo signals are received in the array, in response to the ultrasound beam. A position of a target object is estimated within the FOV. When the estimated position of the target object violates a centering condition, the FOV of the ultrasound beam is automatically modified to re-meet the centering condition.
A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVED ULTRASOUND PLANE ACQUISITION
The invention provides a method for determining a global confidence index for a 2D ultrasound image extracted from a 3D ultrasound volume, wherein the global confidence index indicates the suitability of the 2D ultrasound image for medical measure-ments. The method comprises obtaining a 3D ultrasound volume of a subject and extracting a set of at least one 2D ultrasound image from the 3D ultrasound volume. A set of geometrical indicators are then obtained with a first neural network, wherein each geometrical indicator indicates geometrical features of the anatomy of the subject. The set of 2D ultrasound images are then processed with a second neural network, wherein the output of the second neural network is a set of anatomical indicators and wherein the anatomical indicators indicate at least the presence of anatomical landmarks. A global confidence index is then determined for each one of the set of 2D ultrasound images based on the geometrical indicators and the anatomical indicators.

METHOD OF CHARACTERIZING TISSUE OF A PATIENT
A method for characterizing tissue of a patient, including receiving acoustic data derived from the interaction between the tissue and the acoustic waves irradiating the tissue; generating a morphology rendering of the tissue from the acoustic data, in which the rendering represents at least one biomechanical property of the tissue; determining a prognostic parameter for a region of interest in the rendering, in which the prognostic parameter incorporates the biomechanical property; and analyzing the prognostic parameter to characterize the region of interest. In some embodiment, the method further includes introducing a contrast agent into the tissue; generating a set of enhanced morphology renderings of the tissue after introducing the contrast agent; determining an enhanced prognostic parameter from the enhanced morphology renderings; and analyzing the enhanced prognostic parameter.

STEERABLE MULTI-PLANE ULTRASOUND IMAGING SYSTEM
A steerable multi-plane ultrasound imaging system (MPUIS) for steering a plurality of intersecting image planes (PL.sub.1 . . . n) of a beamforming ultrasound imaging probe (BUIP) based on ultrasound signals transmitted between the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe (BUIP) and an ultrasound transducer (S) disposed within a field of view (FOV) of the probe (BUIP). An ultrasound tracking system (UTS) causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe (BUIP) to adjust an orientation of the first image plane (PL.sub.1) such that a first image plane passes through a position (POS) of the ultrasound transducer (S) by maximizing a magnitude of ultrasound signals transmitted between the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe (BUIP) and the ultrasound transducer (S). An orientation of a second image plane (PL.sub.2) is adjusted such that an intersection (AZ) between the first image plane and the second image plane passes through the position of the ultrasound transducer (S).

BI-PLANE AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL ULTRASOUND IMAGE ACQUISITION FOR GENERATING ROADMAP IMAGES, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND DEVICES
2019PF00643 32 ABSTRACT Disclosed is an ultrasound roadmap image generation system. The system includes a processor configured for communication with an ultrasound imaging device that is movable relative to a patient. The processor receives a first bi-plane or 3D image representative of a first volume within the patient and a second bi-plane or 3D image representative of a second volume within the patient. The processor then registers the first bi-plane or 3D image and the second bi-plane or 3D image to determine the motion between the first bi-plane or 3D image and the second bi-plane or 3D image. The processor then generates a 2D roadmap image of a region of interest by combining the first bi-plane or 3D image and the second bi-plane or 3D image, based on the determined motion; and outputs a screen display comprising the 2D roadmap image.
