A mold machining method using an endmill, the contour of a cross section of the mold being concave and continuous in an area, a ratio of the maximum to the minimum of radius of curvature of the contour of a portion of the area (a first area) being 2 or greater, and a blade of the endmill having a second area where the contour of a cross section is similar to the contour of the first area, the method comprising the steps of: determining a spiral path of the endmill such that each point of the first area is machined by a portion of the second area, corresponding to said each point in the similarity, and a radial interval between the spiral tool path is maximized while keeping surface roughness of the machined mold at or below a predetermined value; and machining the mold along the path.

Nozzle shut off for injection molding system
An injection molding apparatus and method of fabricating a molded part are provided. The apparatus may include a barrel, a nozzle enclosing an end of the barrel and defining an opening in fluid communication with an inside of the barrel, and an extrusion screw positioned at least partially inside the barrel and rotatable relative to the barrel. The extrusion screw may include a screw tip. Relative axial movement between the barrel and the extrusion screw may open or close the opening of the nozzle to permit or prevent, respectively, material flow through the opening of the nozzle. The method may include clamping a mold, opening a nozzle, rotating the extrusion screw to pump a molten material into the mold until the mold is filled, closing the nozzle, and unclamping the mold to release a molded part.

After at least one process adjustment variable is changed, a quality feature of the parts produced with a changed process adjustment variable is checked against the range of the quality tolerance of the produced parts. Injection molding controller interface with user-adjustable variables
An injection molding machine uses a native controller and a retrofit controller to effectively control its operation. The controllers may determine and/or receive information regarding the machine's maximum load capacity, and may also determine a current operational load value of the machine. The retrofit controller may cause the machine to operate at any number of combinations of settings of operational parameters which result in the machine operating at or below the maximum load value by adjusting any number of machine parameters associated with the injection molding machine based on feedback sensors measuring real-time operating conditions of the machine.
Method for Controlling a Rate or Force of a Clamp in a Molding System Using One or More Strain Gauges
A method of monitoring and controlling a molding clamping apparatus in an injection molding or other molding process is disclosed. The method includes creating a target strain profile, receiving a deviation limit, receiving a change in strain relating to a mold while it is closing from a first strain gauge, identifying a deviation from a target strain profile based on the output from the first strain gauge, determining that the deviation exceeds the deviation limit, and adjusting the rate or force of clamp movement. The target strain profile may have a first portion relating to a clamp closing process, a second portion relating to a filling process, and a third portion relating to a clamp opening process. The first portion relating to the clamp closing process may include an intermediate portion relating to a coining process having an intermediate clamp force setpoint.

A state determination apparatus for determining a state related to an abnormality of an injection molding machine based on an operation state of the injection molding machine includes a machine learning apparatus for learning the state related to the abnormality of the injection molding machine. The machine learning apparatus observes, as a state variable that represents a current state of an environment, injection data that indicates the operation state of the injection molding machine, acquires label data that indicates the state related to the abnormality of the injection molding machine, and performs learning by associating the observed state variable with the acquired label data.
