MEDICAL OBSERVATION APPARATUS, DRIVING CONTROL METHOD, MEDICAL OBSERVATION SYSTEM, AND SUPPORT ARM APPARATUS

A medical observation apparatus (10) includes an imaging section (140), an arm section (110), and a control section (210). The imaging section (140) captures an observation target. The arm section (110) includes multiple links and joint sections (130) that join the links to each other, and supports the imaging section (140). The control section (210) controls a torque that drives the joint sections (130). When a surgeon imparts an external force to the arm section (110) or the imaging section (140), a torque (external torque) due to the external force acts on the joint sections (130). When a torque detection section (134) of the joint sections (130) detects the external torque, the control section (210) outputs a torque command value () such that a joint driving section (131) produces a torque in the same direction as the external torque. The torque command value () includes a component that cancels out a torque that a cable (495) twisted inside the joint sections (130) produces due to a restoring force. As a result, the surgeon is able to rotate the joint sections (130) as intended by imparting just a small external torque to the joint sections (130).

Control systems and methods

The present disclosure provides systems for controlling movement of a table supporting an object. The system may include: a first control sub-system configured to generate a first control instruction; a second control sub-system configured to generate a second control instruction; a table control sub-system operably coupled to the table; and a master controller configured to receive the first control instruction from the first control sub-system, or the second control instruction from the second control sub-system, generate a third control instruction based on the first control instruction or the second control instruction, and transmit the third control instruction to the table control sub-system. The table control sub-system may be configured to generate a control signal based on the third control instruction, and cause the table to move based on the control signal.

Secure transfer of medications within hospital
09977873 · 2018-05-22 · ·

A process of safe, secure storage and transfer of prescription medications for patient care in a hospital, clinic, nursing home, or similar health care facility, permits the authorized user to obtain medications for multiple patients along a patient care route, place the medications in respective locking compartments for each patient, and bring the cart to each patient in turn to administer the medications. Scanning in the user ID opens the cart, and the ward or floor medications cabinet displays a 2-D bar code containing patient identification data, the user identification, and one or more delimiter characters indicating that the medication was transferred by the authorized user directly to the cart. For each patient, a patient specific drawer or compartment is unlocked and opened, and the medications are placed into it. This is repeated for each patient on the care route. At each patient bedside, the user scans in the patient ID, which opens only the patient specific drawer. If a medication is obtained when the cart is not at the cabinet, the cabinet labels the medication with a bar code containing a different delimiter. The system maintains an audit of each person handling the medication, and when each event occurred.

CUSTOM SPINAL ORTHOSIS, METHODOLOGY AND WEAR COMPLIANCE
20180133046 · 2018-05-17 · ·

A system, device and methodology for treatment of spinal deformities is provided. Characteristics associated with a patient with a spinal deformity are analyzed and recorded. The characteristics include sagittal balance which is a measure of balance of the spine in a sagittal plane. A clinician generates a prescription outlining a desired correction based on the characteristics for treatment of the spinal deformity. A custom orthosis is manufactured in view of the desired correction provided by the prescription. The custom orthosis provides for monitoring of patient's wear characteristics and compliance with prescribed orthosis wear times.
