METHOD OF HUB COMMUNICATION
Disclosed is a surgical system that includes a surgical hub couplable with inventory items of an institution, and a cloud-based analytics system communicatively coupled to the surgical hub. The cloud-based analytics system is configured to receive a selection of a surgical procedure to be performed; determine a property of a tissue to be treated in the surgical procedure; select from the inventory items a surgical device for use in the surgical procedure based on the tissue property; and suggest using the surgical device in the surgical procedure based on availability of the surgical device in inventory.
METHOD OF HUB COMMUNICATION, PROCESSING, DISPLAY, AND CLOUD ANALYTICS
A method of displaying an operational parameter of a surgical system is disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a cloud computing system of the surgical system, first usage data, from a first subset of surgical hubs of the surgical system; receiving, by the cloud computing system, second usage data, from a second subset of surgical hubs of the surgical system; analyzing, by the cloud computing system, the first and the second usage data to correlate the first and the second usage data with surgical outcome data; determining, by the cloud computing system, based on the correlation, a recommended medical resource usage configuration; and displaying, on respective displays on the first and the second subset of surgical hubs, indications of the recommended medical resource usage configuration.

Surgical instrument including a variable speed firing member
A surgical instrument for cutting and stapling patient tissue is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises an end effector including a staple cartridge and staples, a firing element configured to move through the staple cartridge to cut the patient tissue and eject the staples from the staple cartridge during a staple firing stroke, an elongate shaft extending from the end effector, and a handle extending from the elongate shaft. The handle comprises a motor configured to output a rotary motion. The firing element is operably responsive to the rotary motion. The firing element is further configured to be driven at different speeds during the staple firing stroke. The handle further comprises a display. The display is configured to display the different speeds of the firing element during the staple firing stroke as a graphical representation.
Operable implant
An operable implant adapted to be implanted in the body of a patient. The operable implant comprising an operation device and a body engaging portion, the operation device comprises an electrical motor comprising a static part comprising a plurality of coils and a movable part comprising a plurality of magnets, such that sequential energizing of said coils magnetically propels the magnets and thus propels the movable part. The operation device further comprises an enclosure adapted to hermetically enclose the coils of the static part, such that a seal is created between the static part and the propelled moving part with the included magnets, such that the coils of the static part are sealed from the bodily fluids, when implanted.
Surgical instrument including a display which displays the position of a firing element
A surgical instrument for stapling patient tissue is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises an end effector, a firing element, an elongate shaft, a handle, an electric motor, and a display. The end effector extends from the elongate shaft and comprises a staple cartridge and a plurality of staples. The elongate shaft extends from the handle. The firing element is configured to move through the end effector between a proximal position and a distal position. The firing element is further configured to eject the plurality of staples from the staple cartridge during a firing stroke. The electric motor is configured to output a rotary motion and the firing element is operably responsive to the rotary motion. The display is configured to display a current position of the firing element during the firing stroke.
Surgical instrument assembly comprising a retraction assembly
A surgical instrument assembly is disclosed. The surgical instrument assembly comprises a housing, a shaft assembly configured to be operably attached to the housing, a retraction assembly configured to manually retract a firing member, and a lock operably coupled with the retraction assembly and a drive unit.
