COLLAPSIBLE STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF USE
A collapsible, clamping and/or steerable apparatus in conjunction with negative pressure system and methods for using such an apparatus are described. Preferred embodiments of the invention have lengths and bent and/or increase their curvatures along their lengths, by preferentially contracting and transforming upon negative pressure.
UTERINE HEMORRHAGE CONTROLLING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method of reducing postpartum bleeding includes positioning a device comprising a vacuum element within the uterus; sealing the uterus; activating vacuum in the uterus with the vacuum element of the device while the uterus is sealed; and collapsing the uterus with the vacuum to reduce postpartum bleeding.
MEDICAL DEVICES FOR USE IN THE CREATION OF A TEMPORARY PNEUMOPERITONEUM
Medical devices include a rigid dome, a viewing window, a vacuum port, a vacuum pressure regulator, an aperture, and a septum. The rigid dome is hemispherical and includes a first dome stage, a second dome stage distal on the first dome stage, and a transition between the first dome stage and the second dome stage. The viewing window is acoustically and\or optically transparent to allow for inspection of the surgical site. The vacuum port allows for a reduction of a pressure on the interior of the rigid dome. The vacuum pressure regulator regulates the pressure on the interior of the rigid dome. The aperture provides access to the interior of the rigid dome and the surgical site. The septum engages with the second dome stage to allow for insertion of a surgical instrument with resistance to loss of the pressure on the interior of the rigid dome.
SURGICAL RETRACTOR HAVING A FLEXIBLE AIR-IMPERMEABLE BAG
A surgical retractor for positioning within an incision within a body of a patient is described. The surgical retractor comprises a flexible air-impermeable bag surrounding an interior region and extending from a first end through a central region to a second end. The surgical retractor includes a first port in the central region, the flexible air-impermeable bag surrounding a first channel that extends from the first port towards the first end, a second port in the central region, the flexible air-impermeable bag surrounding a second channel that extends from the second port toward the second end, and a plurality of beads substantially filling the interior region of the flexible air-impermeable bag. The flexible air-impermeable bag is configured to rigidify in response to air being evacuated from the interior region to position and hold intra-incision contents within a surgical working space in a patient.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SAFE PERCUTANEOUS PERICARDIAL DRAINAGE
A safe, reliable, reproducible system and method for entry into the pericardial sac. The method and system described generally includes penetration of the subcutaneous tissue with a guide sheath or a relatively blunt stylet contained within a sheath. The stylet is removed from the sheath and a vacuum mechanism is installed. Once in contact with the pericardium, the sheath is engaged with the pericardial tissue, allowing the vacuum mechanism to draw the pericardium away from the heart to create a greater space between the heart and pericardium allowing needle insertion onto the pericardial cavity in a much safer and controlled manner.
Suspension uvulopalatopexy related methods, devices, and apparatuses
The disclosed embodiments includes apparatuses, devices, and methods for treating a breathing disorder, comprising: inserting a first target oral stud into a first location of an anchor structure, the first target oral stud including a target stud shaft, a target anterior anchor, and a target posterior anchor, wherein the target stud shaft (or suture) is positioned within the tissue of the anchor structure. The embodiments further comprise inserting a first support oral stud into a first location of a support structure, the first support oral stud including a support stud shaft (or suture), a support anterior anchor, and a support posterior anchor, wherein the support stud shaft is positioned within tissue of the support structure. Further, the embodiments comprise connecting, using at least one first connector, the target anterior anchor with the support anterior anchor.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR THE MANIPULATION OF OVARIAN TISSUES
Described here are methods and systems for the manipulation of ovarian tissues. The methods and systems may be used in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The systems and methods may also be useful in the treatment of infertility associated with PCOS.
Full eversion anastomosis juncture formation and suturing
Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for facilitating anastomosis between bodily passages. In an illustrative embodiment, an eversion mechanism is configured to engage a first external surface of a receiving passage adjacent a first opening in the receiving passage in order to create a receiving flange presenting a first interior face. A donor support mechanism is configured to support a donor passage with an opening in an end in an everted position that forms a donor flange presenting a second interior face. The donor support mechanism is further configured to present the second interior face of the donor flange against the first interior face of the receiving flange to present a passage juncture. A suturing mechanism is configured to motivate a filament through a helical path around the passage juncture to suture the second interior face of the donor passage to the first interior face of the receiving passage.
Device for removing organs from a human or animal body
A device for removing organs from a human or animal body has a tube, said device comprising a proximal and a distal end where the proximal end is provided for partly introducing into the body, and whereby the distal end of the tube is connectable to a suction air source and the proximal end of the tube is designed to come into suction contact with the organ. The device also comprises a tubular casing, which surrounds some sections of the tube, and has a proximal end and a distal end that is connected to the tube; a handling device arranged on the tube and designed to open or expand the proximal end of the tubular casing and to guide or place it around the organ; a closing device to close the proximal end of the tubular casing, and a comminuting device provided in the tube.
