Method of determining the time interval until a service action is required

Disclosed is a method of determining the remaining time interval until a measurement characteristic of a field device will have drifted outside of a predetermined tolerance range and a service action is required. The method includes predetermining a maximum tolerance of the measurement characteristic correlated/related to the measuring performance of the field device; registering continuously the measurement characteristic of the field device; estimating a lag time interval wherein the estimated lag time interval depends on the drift of the measurement characteristic of the field device in the process specific application; using a method of Artificial Intelligence to determine, at the end of the estimated lag time interval, the remaining time interval until the measurement characteristic of a field device will have drifted outside the predetermined maximum tolerance; and generating a message informing of the remaining time interval until the service action is required.

The invention relates to a field device of measuring and automation technology. The field device has a radio module for providing access to an operating electronics of the field device. Such access enables the exchange of information between the operating electronics and a user. The radio module can be turned on by a first input signal sequence composed of accelerations of the field device housing and can be turned off by a second input signal sequence. A field device of the invention is shown schematically in FIG. 1.

A selector is provided for configuring field devices in a control system. A set of pins is connected to the field device. The field device configuration can be changed by interconnecting different pins in the pin set. Multiple pin selectors are provided with different arrangements of connectors for interconnecting the pins. Thus, the field device may be easily configured by connecting a particular pin selector onto the pins that matches the desired configuration.

For each integrated driver, the framework application has a standard interface, via which data can be exchanged between the driver and the framework application. For at least some of the integrated drivers, the framework application has one or more proprietary interfaces in addition to the standard interface, via which proprietary interfaces data can be exchanged between the respective drivers and the framework application. Information regarding additional functionalities that are supported by the driver or by an associated field bus component can be transferred from the driver to the framework application via at least one of the proprietary interfaces.
