Tissue plugs for occlusion of hollow anatomical structures and methods for their use are provided.
OCCLUDER LOCKING MECHANISMS
A medical device including a locking mechanism and a method including activating the locking mechanism are described herein. The medical device includes distal and proximal disc portions and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is configured to pull and maintain the distal and proximal disc portions toward each other when the medical device is deployed in an expanded configuration.
DEVICES FOR TREATING PARAVALVULAR LEAKAGE AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
An elongate member has a longitudinal axis, and has an elongated configuration in which the elongate member defines (i) a first portion that defines a first-portion folding line, substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis, (ii) a second portion that defines a second-portion folding line, substantially parallel to the first-portion folding line, and (iii) an oblique folding line, longitudinally between the first portion and the second portion. The oblique folding line is nonparallel and nonorthogonal to the longitudinal axis. A tensioning member weaves longitudinally along the elongate member such that applying tension to the tensioning member transitions the elongate member toward a folded configuration by folding (i) the first and second portions about their respective folding lines, and (ii) the elongate member about the oblique folding line in a manner that positions the first-portion folding line nonparallel to the second-portion folding line.
Left atrial appendage closure device and method
A device to close the left atrial appendage of a patient including a hollow shell having opposed male and female ratchet latches with the shell moveable into the left atrial appendage orifice to close the orifice by interconnecting the latches to expand the shell in conformance with the profile of the orifice.
PROXIMAL LOCKING ASSEMBLY DESIGN FOR DUAL STENT MECHANICAL THROMBECTOMY DEVICE
A mechanical locking assembly for an endovascular device, comprising a shaft comprising a main body a shaft comprising a main body and enlarged end, an inner channel component comprising a full collar formed on proximal end of the inner channel component, and an outer cage component comprising a partial collar formed on the outer cage component wherein the full collar of the inner channel component fully surrounds the outer cage component and the partial collar of the outer cage component at least partially surrounds the shaft.
LOCK FOR MEDICAL DEVICES, AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A lock for positioning a first medical device with respect to a second medical device includes a spacer for preventing advancement of the first medical device towards the second medical device. The spacer is movable between a lock position and an unlock position. In the lock position, the spacer is moved transverse to the longitudinal axis with respect to the unlock position. The lock further includes a rotary stop integral with the spacer for fixing the rotational position of the first medical device with respect to the second medical device. The lock further includes a clip integral with the spacer and removably securable to the first medical device in a first position to secure the spacer in the unlock position, and removably securable to the first medical device in a second position to secure the spacer in the lock position.
Patent foramen ovale closure method
The present invention relates to devices for closing a passageway in a body, for example a patent foramen ovale (PFO) in a heart, and related methods of using such closure devices for closing the passageway. The method includes introducing a mechanical closure device into an atrium of the heart and transeptally deploying the closure device across the interatrial septum to provide proximation of the septum secundum and septum primum.
Devices for treating paravalvular leakage and methods use thereof
An aspect of the present teachings includes a method of percutaneously treating a paravalvular leakage. In a preferred embodiment, the method includes providing an anchor having an elongate anchor member and a tensioning member, positioning the anchor through a paravalvular leakage, deploying the anchor wherein at least a part of the distal portion of the elongate anchor member is on one side of the paravalvular leakage, and applying tension to the tensioning member so that at least a part of the distal portion of the elongate anchor member transitions from the elongate configuration to the shortened configuration. Another aspect of the present teachings includes a device that can be used in a method of percutaneously treating a paravalvular leakage.
FIXATION DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENGAGING TISSUE
System for fixation of leaflets of a heart valve including a delivery catheter having an elongated shaft, a proximal end portion and a distal end portion configured to be positioned proximate native leaflets of a heart valve from a remote vascular access point, the delivery catheter further includes a rotatable actuator rod having a threaded fastener at a distal end thereof, and a fixation device releasably coupled by a threaded connection to the threaded fastener of the actuator rod. The fixation device includes a first arm moveable between a closed position and an open position, a second arm moveable between a closed position and an open position. The fixation device further includes a first gripping element movable relative to the first arm in the open position, the first gripping element biased toward the first arm to capture a first leaflet of the heart valve therebetween, and a second gripping element movable relative to the second arm in the open position, the second gripping element biased toward the second arm to capture a second leaflet of the heart valve therebetween. The first gripping element and the second gripping element each includes a plurality of barbs extending therefrom, the plurality of barbs of each of the first gripping element and the second gripping element being aligned transversely in at least one row. The fixation device further includes a covering disposed on each of the first gripping element and the second gripping element, wherein the plurality of barbs of the first gripping element and the second gripping element, respectively, protrude through the covering.
Devices and methods for image-guided percutaneous cardiac valve implantation and repair
Devices and methods for ultrasound image-guided percutaneous, cardiac valve implantation and repair comprise, in combination, a plurality of devices including but not limited to an ultrasound-image guided catheter, a pericardial sheath, a cardiac-valve delivery system and an ascending aortic filter. An image-guided catheter is utilized to introduce via an introducer needle and a guide wire a pericardium portal for permitting entry from the chest wall to inside the pericardial space between the pericardial outer lining and inner lining. The pericardium portal permits the use of ultrasound vision to locate a site proximate the left ventricular apex, for introduction of a sheath via a .myocardium needle into the left ventricular space at an angle and avoiding any coronaries or vessels. A first delivery system permits placement of at least one aortic filter which collects any emboli, particulate matter, plaque and prevents such matter travelling via the ascending aorta to the brain, causing a stroke. A second delivery system permits placement of an aortic and/or mitral valve replacement or repair using several types of repair tools.
