SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENTING THE PATENT FOREMAN OVALE AND ATRIAL SEPTAL DEFECT
20220401087 · 2022-12-22 · ·

The present invention describes systems and methods for treating a hole in the septum, such as a patent foramen ovale or an atrial septal defect, with a closure implant designed to fluidly seal the hole to prevent blood from flowing between the right atrium to the left atrium. The closure implant includes two structures positioned on opposite sides of the hole in septum configured to close and seal the hole. The first structure is an expandable petal anchor having multiple petal groups with multiple petals of different sizes and/or shapes made of shape memory wire configured to be positioned on a distal side of the hole in the septum wall, and the second structure is a braided disk made of shape memory mesh positioned the proximal side of the hole in the septum wall, opposite the petal anchor. The braided disk is sized to cover the hole once it is expanded. The petal anchor is designed to pull and compress the braided disk against the septum wall to cover and fluidly seal the hole. The closure implant is designed to be delivered to the heart using a catheter-based delivery system.

Described herein is a medical device including a frame having proximal and distal ends. The frame includes a proximal disc at the proximal end, a distal disc at the distal end, and a connecting segment extending between the proximal end and the distal end and connecting the proximal and distal discs. Each of the proximal and distal discs includes a respective plurality of lobes. Each lobe is defined by a peripheral strut. The medical device also includes at least one patch. The at least one patch is coupled to at least one of the proximal and distal discs of the frame.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TEMPORARY SHUNTING BETWEEN HEART CHAMBERS

The inventive device may include a delivery catheter that remains coupled to an expandable stent portion having an hourglass or “diabolo” shape. The temporary stent device is configured to lodge the shunt portion securely in the atrial septum, preferably the fossa ovalis, to function as an interatrial shunt, allowing blood flow between the left atrium to the right atrium responsive to a pressure differential across the atrial septum. Upon completion of the treatment, a delivery sheath may be used in conjunction with cinching cord coupled to the stent portion to retrieve and remove the temporary shunt device from the patient.

Medical occluder device

An occluder device is provided for occluding a cardiovascular defect or a gap between a medical device and adjacent body tissue, the device including a compliant balloon defining a fluid-tight balloon chamber and a balloon channel forming a longitudinal passage from a proximal to a distal side of the balloon, the balloon including a fluid port for filling a fluid into the balloon chamber. A tip and a base are coupled to the distal and the proximal sides of the balloon, respectively. At least one connecting strut is attached to the tip and to the base. An elongate actuator is disposed longitudinally slidable in the balloon channel and connected to the tip, and longitudinally slidable with respect to the base so as to set a distance between the tip and the base. A lock is configured to maintain the distance between the tip and the base. Other embodiments are also described.

CLOSURE DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SEALING BIOLOGIC TISSUE MEMBRANES

An implantable closure device for sealing an opening, such as a puncture, through a biologic tissue membrane, such as the meninges, against leakage of biological fluid. The closure device includes a fluid sealing plug configured to be positioned at least partially within the opening through the biologic tissue membrane. A retainer is configured to secure the fluid sealing plug at least partially within the opening. The retainer includes a proximal retainer portion configured to be disposed proximally on the biologic tissue membrane, a distal retainer portion configured to be disposed distally on the biologic tissue membrane, and a central retainer portion connecting the proximal retainer portion and the distal retainer portion. The central retainer portion is configured to extend through the opening. The fluid sealing plug is coupled to the central retainer portion.

Instrument and methods for surgically closing percutaneous punctures

A closure device for sealing a percutaneous puncture in a wall of a body passageway, the closure device including at least one of a toggle configured to engage an interior surface of the body passageway or a plug configured to engage an exterior surface of the body passageway and a guide wire configured to extend from an outside of the body to inside the body passageway, wherein at least one of the toggle and the plug is associated with the guide wire.

Vascular Closure Device and Method of Closing a Vascular Access Hole Using Such a Device
20220361862 · 2022-11-17 ·

The present invention relates to a vascular closure device, comprising a self-expanding tubular vascular closure element, a retaining element surrounding the vascular closure element, the retaining element being arranged to hold the vascular closure element in the lumen of the retaining element in a configuration where the vascular closure element is not fully self-expanded, a tether that is threaded through the lumen of the retaining element, the tether being arranged so that, upon application of a first force to the tether which is greater than a threshold force, the tether disintegrates the retaining element so as to allow the vascular closure element to freely expand. It also relates to a system for delivering such a vascular closure device and to a method of closing a vascular access hole using a corresponding device.

Vessel occluder

A vessel occluder used to occlude blood flow within the vasculature is described. The vessel occluder can include an expandable mesh portion having a flexible membrane that expands within a cavity of the expandable mesh portion. When expanded, the flexible membrane blocks blood passage through the mesh portion.

CONCENTRIC CORE PUNCTURE LOCATING SYSTEM

Disclosed are a puncture sealing device and methods of locating a puncture site within a vessel. The systems can include elongated dilators and access sheaths that are configured to locate the puncture site within a vessel so that the position of the puncture site relative to a distal end of the access sheath is known during a puncture sealing procedure.

Occluder Pushing Device and Transport System

The present disclosure relates to an occluder pushing device and an occluder delivery system, wherein the pushing device includes a pushing component and a handle. The pushing component includes a pushing tube and a traction element slidably inserted into the pushing tube. The handle is fixedly connected to a proximal end of the pushing tube and internally provided with a moving component and a locking component. The moving component includes a translation mechanism and a rotation mechanism, where the translation mechanism is used to drive the traction element to move axially inside the pushing tube, and the rotation mechanism is used to drive the traction element to rotate axially inside the pushing tube. The locking component is used to lock relative positions of the traction element and the pushing tube, and the rotation mechanism includes a locking structure for locking or releasing linkage between the rotation mechanism and the traction element. The pushing device of the present invention has provided therein the locking component for locking the traction element and the pushing tube in relative positions, such that when the pushing tube pushes the occluder, the relative positions of the traction element and the pushing tube lock the occluder in a folded state, thereby preventing the occluder from being prematurely released before reaching a pre-determined position.
