Devices and methods for the treatment of vascular abnormalities

Described herein is a medical device for treating a target site. The medical device includes a proximal end including a disc and a distal end including a lobe. The disc and lobe are connected by a connecting member. The disc includes a proximal surface, a distal surface, and a central surface extending between and connecting the proximal surface and distal surface, wherein the central surface separates the proximal surface from the distal surface by a predetermined depth distance.

Skull Base Closure Systems And Methods

The present disclosure provides a bioresorbable foam closure device for trans-nasally closing an opening in a base of a skull. The closure device comprises a phase-separated polymer. The device includes a stem portion having a proximal end and a distal end, and a head portion at the distal end of the stem portion. The closure device is deformed from a free shape to a constricted shape, inserted through a nasal cavity and into the opening, and released to at least partially revert back to the free shape such that the stem portion fills the opening and the head portion abuts cranium and dura to secure the closure device in position and seal the opening.

Methods and Systems for Controlling Cooperative Surgical Instruments with Variable Surgical Site Access Trajectories

Systems, devices, and methods for controlling cooperative surgical instruments with variable surgical site access trajectories are provided. Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for coordinated operation of surgical instruments accessing a common surgical site from different approach and/or separate body cavities to achieve a common surgical purpose. For example, various methods, devices, and systems disclosed herein can enable the coordinated treatment of tissue by disparate minimally invasive surgical systems that approach the tissue from varying anatomical spaces and must operate differently, but in concert with one another, to effect a desired surgical treatment.

MEDICAL IMPLANT AND DELIVERY DEVICE FOR A MEDICAL IMPLANT

The invention relates to medical implant (1) that is adapted to close a defect (D) or a cavity, preferably a defect in an atrial or septal wall (W) or a left atrial appendage. The implant (1) comprises an occlusion device (6) and has two states. It is adapted to, in a first state, be deployed to a defect site (D), where it can be brought into a second state by an activation mechanism. It is adapted to close said defect (D) in said second state.

Devices, methods and systems are provided for occluding a left atrial appendage. In one embodiment, a medical device includes a cover portion and a foam anchor portion with a flexible member coupled therebetween. The cover portion is configured to be positioned over an ostium of the left atrial appendage. The foam anchor portion extends between a proximal end and a distal end to define a length and an axis defined along the length of the foam anchor portion. The foam anchor portion defines a curved external surface radially extending relative to the axis such that the curved external surface extends between the proximal and distal ends of the foam anchor portion. The foam anchor portion is configured to self-expand to provide an outward biasing force from the curved external surface such that a circumferential surface area of the curved external surface biases against tissue of the left atrial appendage.

Described herein is a medical device including a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end includes a disc and the distal end includes a lobe. The disc and lobe are connected by a connecting member. The disc includes a proximal surface and a distal surface. The lobe includes a proximal surface, a distal surface, and a side surface extending between and connecting the proximal surface and distal surface of the lobe. The medical device also includes a fabric patch. The fabric patch is coupled to the proximal surface of at least one of the disc or the lobe and to at least one additional surface of the at least one of the disc and the lobe.

OCCLUDER MEDICAL DEVICE

A medical device includes a device frame, including a proximal portion and a distal portion and configured to selectively transition between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. The medical device also includes at least one cover, wherein at least one cover is coupled to at least one of the proximal and distal portions.

Percutaneous catheter directed intravascular occlusion devices

The present invention provides an improved vascular occlusion device having improved flexibility and retention of the type fabricated from braided tubular metal fabric having an expanded preset configuration and an elongated collapsed reduced diameter configuration for delivery through a catheter to a treatment site and shaped to create an occlusion of an abnormal opening in a body organ or vessel, the woven metal fabric having a memory property whereby the medical device tends to return to said expanded preset configuration when unconstrained. The device further including at least one disk portion adjacent a body cylindrical portion formed from the fabric and having a transition diameter between the disk and cylindrical portion, significantly smaller than the diameter of the disk and the diameter of the cylindrical portion.
