Sealing mechanism for closure devices
10765414 · 2020-09-08 · ·

A deployment device for bringing a sealing plug into position within a puncture tract or incision, and bringing an anchor into position adjacent a tissue puncture, is provided. The deployment device is designed to facilitate easier positioning of the sealing plug, wherein a separate tamping tool is not required. The sealing plug is held in place on the shaft of the anchor by a structure, for example, a knob or boss. The anchor, anchor shaft, and sealing plug may be made of various biocompatible resorbable materials such that the anchor may resorb very quickly, leaving the tissue or artery lumen clear, and the sealing plug may resorb more slowly, to assist in maintaining hemostasis. The deployment device may include a bypass device which maintains the anchor in either an extended or bent configuration. Further, the anchor may include at least one rib, to provide support to the anchor.

Internal closure systems and devices

Among other things, there are shown embodiments of internal members for closure of vascular wall or other bodily openings, particularly useful in closing larger holes (e.g. larger than 10 French). Embodiments create a better seal or meeting with a vascular or other tissue wall by distributing force outward from the center, and/or by including rib, groove or hinge features that allow the internal member, as it is pulled toward tissue, to close the hole and engage tissue more closely or firmly.

Vascular closure with shape memory characteristic

Devices for closing an internal opening, e.g. a hole in a blood vessel, include a shape memory function. Particular substances have been found to provide advantages in use, and in particular forms of closure structures.

SURGICAL FASTENER AND APPARATUS

A surgical fastener having a first part and a second part, each of the first and second parts comprising a clamping bar and a centrally-positioned perpendicular bracing bar extending therefrom, the clamping bar and bracing bar together defining a T-shape, wherein the surgical fastener further comprises at least one bracing element connecting the bracing bar of each of the first and second parts. A surgical apparatus for the application of a fastener to tissue comprising a handle assembly, a shaft extending distally from the handle assembly, a drive assembly, an articulation assembly and a jaw assembly mounted adjacent a distal end of the shaft comprising fixed support jaw and a clamping jaw, at least one of the jaws comprises a rotatable fastener support defining a T-shaped recess therein for receiving a surgical fastener, wherein the articulation assembly is operable to rotate the fastener support and the drive assembly is operable by the handle assembly to move the clamping jaw in and out of a closed configuration with respect to the support jaw.

Left atrial appendage implant

A medical implant for a left atrial appendage may include a central member having an anchor at a distal end and a plurality of legs joined together at a joint coupled to the central member. The plurality of legs may be configured to expand from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration. A medical implant may include a central shaft having an anchor at a distal end and a cup-shaped occluder fixed to a proximal end of the central shaft, the occluder being configured to expand from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration and retard tissue ingrowth thereon. A medical implant system may include a delivery sheath, an implant having an expandable frame including a plurality of legs each having an anchor and a mesh having a plurality of openings therethrough attached to the frame, and a plurality of particles disposed within the delivery sheath.

SUCTION CLOSURE DEVICES AND METHODS

Devices and methods for creating hemostasis at a subcutaneous vascular puncture are disclosed. The methods and devices may be used to close vascular punctures following trans-radial arterial procedures, e.g., catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention. The devices may include a housing defining a suction chamber and an anvil disposed within the suction chamber.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SEALING A MEMBRANE

Disclosed embodiments relate to a membrane closure device (100) for closing a perforation in a membrane (10), comprising: a patch guiding mechanism (110) for guiding at least one expandable patch (120) to a perforation site (12) of a membrane (10); and a fastener delivery mechanism (130, 330) for delivering a fastener (140) to the perforation site (12) and for fastening the at least one expandable patch by the fastener (140) to the membrane (10) to seal the perforation in the membrane (10) by the at least one expandable patch (120).

Percutaneous catheter directed intravascular occlusion devices

The present invention provides an improved vascular occlusion device having improved flexibility and retention of the type fabricated from braided tubular metal fabric having an expanded preset configuration and an elongated collapsed reduced diameter configuration for delivery through a catheter to a treatment site and shaped to create an occlusion of an abnormal opening in a body organ or vessel, the woven metal fabric having a memory property whereby the medical device tends to return to said expanded preset configuration when unconstrained. The device further including at least one disk portion adjacent a body cylindrical portion formed from the fabric and having a transition diameter between the disk and cylindrical portion, significantly smaller than the diameter of the disk and the diameter of the cylindrical portion.

Space filling devices

An occlusive device includes a covering component configured to modulate passage of blood or thrombus therethrough, and an occlusion frame that includes a plurality of elongate occlusion frame members. The elongate occlusion frame members are arranged to form a generally disc-shaped member. The occlusion frame is at least partially covered by the covering component. The device further includes an anchor frame that includes a plurality of elongate anchor frame members. The device further includes a first hub component from which the elongate frame members extend, and a second hub component from which the elongate frame members extend.
