Method for treating cancerous and pre-cancerous skin
The present disclosure provides a method for treating clinical or pre-clinical skin damage in a skin field of a subject, wherein the skin field has been allocated a skin cancerization field index (SCFI) score of at least 1 as determined by a process comprising the steps of: (i) assessing the number of keratoses in the skin field; (ii) assessing the thickness of the thickest keratosis in the skin field; and (iii) assessing the proportion of the field affected by clinical or subclinical skin damage. Based on the assessments made in (i), (ii) and (iii) the subject is optionally treated by at least one of (a) freezing one or more lesions, (b) shaving, curetting or surgically removing one or more lesions, (c) applying a topical treatment for actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma, and (d) radiation therapy.
Devices and systems for treating the skin using vacuum
An instrument and technique for the removal of epidermal layers in a controlled manner utilizing a hand-held instrument with a working end that (i) a vacuum aspiration system, (ii) a source for delivery of a sterile fluids or pharmacological agents to the skin; and (iii) a skin interface surface in the working end that has specially shape structure for abrading surface layers of the patient's epidermis as the working end is moved over the patient's skin while at the same time causing rapid penetration of the fluids into the skin for therapeutic purposes. Movement of the working end across the skin causes abrasion of the surface layers in a path over the patient's skin.
SKIN TAG REMOVER
The present invention is a skin tag remover which includes a cord formed into a loop at a tag end for placing around a skin tag, a cord housing for receiving a portion of the cord there through and a finger ring attached to a ring end of the cord. Pulling on the finger ring tightens the loop around the skin tag and places the cord into a constricted position so that blood flow is restricted to the skin tag. A blade is included in the cord housing with a plunger that urges the blade downward to sever and detach the cord from the cord housing.
Skin treatment apparatus
An electrical skin treating appliance has an elongate hollow polymeric housing with front and rear portions. The front portion contains a reservoir for receiving and containing water. The rear portion has one or more controls. The housing contains an ultrasonic mist generator for converting the water into a fine mist and dispersing the mist from the housing. A sonically-vibratory spatula extends from the housing at a junction of the front and rear portions and is adapted to scrape the outermost surface of a user's skin. The housing contains an oscillation generator for selectively causing ultrasonic vibration of the spatula, and the one or more controls are adapted for selectively energizing, only one at a time, the mist generator and the oscillation generator.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ATTACHING A THREAD LOOP AROUND A SKIN TAG
A device for applying a thread loop around a skin tag (26), the device comprising a thread cartridge (10) arranged to be connected to a tool (1) which has a hollow cylindrical handle (2) with a piston (7) which can be run inside the handle, wherein the piston (7 first end (9) which in a base position of the piston connects to an opening (5) in a front end (3) of the handle, where a thumb grip (16) is attached to the piston (7) and via a slot (17) in the handle (2) is arranged accessible from the outside of the handle whereby the piston (7) is displaceable from its base position along the interior of the handle (2), where the piston (7) has a carrier (18) at its first end (9) to which an inner end of said thread cartridge (10) is arranged to be connected, further a thread loop (14) in an outer end of the thread cartridge (10) is arranged to be laid around the skin tag (26), where a displacement of the piston (7) from the base position by means of the thumb grip (16) contracts the thread loop (14) around the skin tag (26) and the inner end of the thread cartridge (10) is arranged to be detached from the carrier (18) when the handle (2) is tilted in relation to the longitudinal direction of the thread cartridge (10), whereby the handle (2) is removed from the thread cartridge (10).
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TREATING THE SKIN USING A POROUS MEMBER
According to some embodiments, a skin treatment assembly comprises a tip comprising a proximal end and a distal end, a container configured to secure to the tip along the proximal end of the tip, wherein the container is configured to contain a liquid, and a porous member configured to extend at least partially within an interior of the container such that it contact a liquid contained within the container, wherein the porous member is configured to extend at least partially within an interior of the tip and is configured to facilitate the transfer of liquid from the container to the distal end of the tip.
DEVICE FOR PERFORMING A COSMETIC OR MEDICAL PROCEDURE
A device for performing a cosmetic or medical procedure and methods of operating such a device are usable for treating fibrous adhesions, such as those implicated in the formation of cosmetic or medical conditions including but not limited to cellulite. Embodiments of the disclosure have been particularly developed for targeting and disrupting fibrous adhesions to restore or improve normal physiological tissue function and/or aesthetic appearance. In at least one embodiment, the device comprises an elongate body and one or more user controllable breaking means. Each breaking means is actuatable to move between a retracted position in which the breaking means is in a collapsed configuration and an operative position in which the breaking means is in an expanded configuration suitable to break a strand of fibrous material or fibrous connective tissue.
MANUAL DEBRIDEMENT IMPLEMENT
An inexpensive yet effective implement for manual debridement comprises an elongated, integrally molded hand-held member having a proximal handle with a gripping portion, a distal head portion, and a flex portion between the handle and head portions. The head portion defines a bottom surface with a plurality of fluted structures, each fluted structure featuring a sharp edge. The handle portion is angled relative to the bottom surface of the head portion. The implement is packaged in sterilized form and intended to be disposed after use. In the preferred embodiment the fluted structures define partial, truncated cones, such that sharp edge is a curve or semi-circle. The gripping portion may also include a ruler or graduated markings. The flex portion may be ribbed or accordion-shaped to enhance flexing. The proximal-most portion of the handle includes a downward curve to maintain a user's grip.
Hydraulically actuated skin graft harvesting
The present invention generally relates to devices and systems that utilize an inflatable bladder for generating, cutting, capturing, and/or transplanting one or more skin blisters. In some aspects, methods and devices in accordance with the present teachings can enable the harvesting of skin grafts from an increased variety of potential donor sites, such as areas of the body having uneven surfaces or a smaller radius of curvature (e.g., the arm) or large area donor sites where the creation of a vacuum may require a high power negative pressure source. In various aspects, systems, devices, and methods in accordance with the present teachings can also enable the efficient transplant of the grafts directly from the skin graft harvester to the recipient site without the transfer of the grafts generated by the harvester to another substrate prior to transplantation.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SKIN TREATMENT
According to some embodiments, a system for treating skin includes a handpiece assembly comprising a tip and a main body portion, the main body portion comprising an interior cavity and at least one canister configured to store at least one of a treatment material and a waste material. The treatment material and/or the waste material is in fluid communication with the tip.
