SURGICAL STAPLING DEVICE WITH LAMINATED DRIVE MEMBER
A surgical stapling device includes an elongate body, a tool assembly pivotably coupled to the elongate body for articulation, and a drive assembly. The drive assembly is movable in relation to the tool assembly to eject staples from the tool assembly and cut tissue clamped between jaws of the tool assembly. The drive assembly includes a working end that is coupled to a flexible drive beam. The flexible drive beam includes a metallic core member and outer laminates secured to opposite sides of the core member. The outer laminates are formed of a material having a lower coefficient of friction than the core member to minimize firing forces of the surgical stapling device.
Tissue-Removing Catheter with Distal Tip
A tissue-removing catheter for removing tissue in a body lumen includes an elongate drive member and a tissue-removing element operatively coupled to the distal end portion of the elongate drive member. An inner liner received within the drive coil defines a liner passage sized and shaped to receive a guidewire therein. A distal tip extends distally outward from the tissue-removing element. The distal tip has a proximal end portion disposed within the tissue-removing element and a distal end portion spaced distally from the tissue-removing element. A distal end portion of the inner liner is axially spaced apart from the proximal end portion of the distal tip such that the distal tip is free from direct connection to the inner liner.
CATHETER WITH SINGLE AXIAL SENSORS
A catheter has single axis sensors mounted directly along a portion of the catheter whose position/location is of interest. The magnetic based, single axis sensors are on a linear or nonlinear single axis sensor (SAS) assembly. The catheter includes a catheter body and a distal 2D or 3D configuration provided by a support member on which at least one, if not at least three single axis sensors, are mounted serially along a length of the support member. The magnetic-based sensor assembly may include at least one coil member wrapped on the support member, wherein the coil member is connected via a joint region to a respective cable member adapted to transmit a signal providing location information from the coil member to a mapping and localization system. The joint region provides strain relief adaptations to the at least one coil member and the respective cable member from detaching.
CO-MANIPULATION SURGICAL SYSTEM HAVING A COUPLING MECHANISM REMOVEABLY ATTACHABLE TO SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS
Co-manipulation robotic systems are described herein that may be used for assisting with laparoscopic surgical procedures. The co-manipulation robotic systems allow a surgeon to use commercially-available surgical tools while providing benefits associated with surgical robotics. Advantageously, the surgical tools may be seamlessly coupled to the robot arms using a disposable coupler while the reusable portions of the robot arm remain in a sterile drape. Further, the co-manipulation robotic system may operate in multiple modes to enhance usability and safety, while allowing the surgeon to position the instrument directly with the instrument handle and further maintain the desired position of the instrument using the robot arm.
TISSUE FASTENING
The fastener assemblies, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are generally directed to a first T-fastener and a second T-fastener securable to one another through the use of a suture extending therebetween and deliverable to an anatomical location using a minimally invasive technique. For example, a cannula of a needle assembly may be percutaneously deliverable to a treatment site and, through actuation of a hub of the needle assembly, the first T-fastener and the second T-fastener may be deliverable relative to biological tissue to be fastened at the treatment site. The suture may intracorporeally fasten the first T-fastener and the second T-fastener relative to one another for robust securement biological tissue therebetween. As compared to securement using external fixation, the fastener assemblies, systems, and methods of the present disclosure may facilitate intracorporeally fastening tissue while reducing or eliminating certain requirements associated with postoperative care.
THROUGH THE SCOPE TENSION MEMBER RELEASE CLIP
An apparatus for deployment of a hemostatic clip includes a handle assembly, a shaft connected to a distal portion thereof and a clip assembly releasably coupled to a distal portion of the shaft. The clip assembly includes clip arms and a capsule cooperating with the clip arms to provide a first user feedback indicating a decision configuration of the clip assembly. In addition, the apparatus includes a control wire including a ball connector, the control wire extending from the handle assembly and coupled to the clip assembly by the ball connector to maintain the clip assembly coupled to the shaft, wherein the ball connector is detachable from the clip assembly to provide a second user feedback indicating separation of the clip assembly.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF DITHERING TO MAINTAIN GRASP FORCE
Systems and methods of dithering to maintain grasp force include a computer-assisted device. The computer-assisted device includes an instrument having a first jaw and a second jaw configured to grasp a material, one or more actuators configured to actuate the first and second jaws to apply force to the grasped material, and a controller coupled to the one or more actuators. The controller is configured to determine that actuation of the one or more actuators should be dithered and in response to the determination, dither one or more control signals to the one or more actuators so as to cause variations in a force or torque applied by the one or more actuators. In some embodiments, the one or more control signals correspond to a force setpoint, a torque setpoint, a current setpoint, or a position setpoint for the one or more actuators.
TISSUE-REMOVING CATHETER WITH COUPLED INNER LINER
The present disclosure provides a tissue-removing catheter that includes an elongate body with proximal and distal end portions, a tissue-removing element, an inner liner, and a coupling assembly. The tissue-removing element removes tissue by rotation from the elongate body. The inner liner defines a guidewire lumen received within the elongate body and is coupled to the tissue-removing element at its distal end portion. The coupling assembly includes a bushing attached to the distal end portion of the inner liner and a bearing disposed around the bushing with an exterior surface of the bushing contacting an interior surface of the bearing along less than 50% of an internal surface area of the interior surface of the bearing. At least one of the exterior surface of the bushing and the interior surface of the bearing may define a non-uniform dimension extending along a length of one of the bushing and bearing.
