The present invention includes a system, kit and apparatus to aid in the realignment of one or more bones of a patient. The present invention provides a substantially rigid orthopedic stabilization scaffold for attachment of one or more external fixators for the realignment of one or more bones of a patient. The orthopedic stabilization scaffold includes a first anchorable frame and a second anchorable frame that are connectable at a point and removably attachable to an operating table.
System and apparatus for guiding an instrument
A system and an apparatus for guiding an instrument may be provided, the apparatus comprising a main body; a holding member for holding an instrument, the holding member coupled to the main body; and one or more actuating members configured to effect movement of the holding member such that said movement of the holding member is capable of providing rotational movement of an instrument about a pivot point external the apparatus. The holding member may preferably be configured to co-operate with a compliance device, said compliance device capable of holding the instrument.
DEVICES AND RELATED ASPECTS FOR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING-BASED IN- SITU TISSUE CHARACTERIZATION
Provided herein are methods of analyzing tissue using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compatible tissue analysis device that includes radio¬frequency (RF) tracking and imaging elements. Related kits, systems, and computer program products are also provided.
Mechanical interface device to bone structure with an integrated targeting reference, allowing for surgical device attachment
Device 1 for fixation to the skull 2 of a patient that can serve as a fiducial marker in scan guided surgical operations using a surgical instrument. The device 1 comprises a material translucent for the applied electromagnetic waves of the scan and a fiducial marker and where the device 1 comprises means to fixate the device in a well-defined manner to the surgical instrument.
System, kit and apparatus for attachment of external fixators for bone realignment
The present invention includes a system, kit and apparatus to aid in the realignment of one or more bones of a patient. The present invention provides a substantially rigid orthopedic stabilization scaffold for attachment of one or more external fixators for the realignment of one or more bones of a patient. The orthopedic stabilization scaffold includes a first anchorable frame and a second anchorable frame that are removably attachable to an operating table and connected adjustably by one or more crossbars.
Method and apparatus for a radiolucent and MRI compatible cranial stabilization pin
A substantially radiolucent cranial stabilization pin is adapted for use with a fixture for immobilizing a patient's head during a medical procedure. The pin includes a tip and a body, which are secured together to form the pin. The tip and body are constructed from non-ferrous, non-magnetic materials that are biocompatible. The tip and body are safe for use with, and compatible with, imaging techniques including MR imaging and CT imaging. In some examples the tip is a titanium insert and the body is molded within and around at least a portion of the tip. In some versions, the tip includes a hollow portion and one or more projections extending within the hollow portion. The molded body flows into the hollow portion and around the one or more projections of the tip creating a secure pin suitable to withstand torque and axial forces observed in use.
Frame for fixation of equipment to the head of a patient during neurological diagnosis, stereotactic imaging, therapy or surgery
A frame for fixation of equipment to the head of a patient during neurological diagnosis, therapy or surgery is adapted to enclose the head of the patient. The frame includes a number of mounting slots arranged in the frame. The mounting slots are adapted to receive a number of fixation pins adapted to fixate the frame to a bone in the head. The frame further includes two anterior longitudinal posts and two posterior longitudinal posts, extending along a longitudinal axis A, an anterior portion, adapted to be arranged at the anterior side of the head, the anterior portion interconnecting the two anterior longitudinal posts, and a posterior portion, adapted to be arranged at the posterior side of the head, the posterior portion interconnecting the two posterior longitudinal posts. The anterior longitudinal posts and the posterior longitudinal posts are interconnected with two lateral portions, adapted to extend one on each side of the head, and wherein the lateral portions are axially offset, along the longitudinal axis A, with respect to the anterior and posterior portion. A stereotactic frame system includes such a frame.
POLYMERIC LIGATING CLIP
A one piece molded polymeric ligating clip comprises a pair of curved legs having a unitary hinge at a proximal end and a latch at a distal end. The inner face of each leg includes two rows of transverse ribs, with the rows separated from one another along a longitudinal center line of each leg. The ribs of one row are staggered with respect to the ribs of the other row of the same leg as well as ribs of the corresponding rows on the other leg. Each rib includes a sloped flexible tapered sharp pointed prong which projects away from the inner face of the respective leg and toward the longitudinal center of the leg. The sharp pointed prongs impale the vessel wall when the clip is closed around a vessel or duct.
MRI biopsy apparatus incorporating a sleeve and multi-function obturator
An apparatus for use with a minimally invasive medical procedure into human breast tissue includes a cannula and an obturator. The cannula includes an open distal end, a lateral opening proximate to the open distal end, and a longitudinal lumen communicating with the lateral opening and the open distal end. The lumen has a non-circular cross-section. The obturator is sized for insertion into the cannula. The obturator has a distal end extending from the open distal end of the cannula when the obturator is inserted fully into the cannula. The obturator has a recess proximate of the distal end of the obturator. The recess is positioned along a portion of the length of the obturator to align with the lateral opening of the cannula when the obturator is inserted fully into the cannula.
SURGICAL RETRACTION DEVICE
A surgical appliance includes a pair of opposed prongs slideably disposed on an elongated locking track for retracting neurovascular and musculotendinous anatomical structures through an incision for affording access to deeper structures for inserting osteosynthesis hardware in the surgical treatment of a distal radius fracture or other surgical procedure. The prongs extend from retractors that traverse the locking track for opposed linear movement while recessed in a surgical working region accessible through an incision. The prongs terminate in curvatures defining a void that gather and engage the elongated anatomical structures on top of the skeletal members receiving the plate. The prongs draw back the tendons, blood vessels and nerve structures to allow unimpeded surgical access for manipulating and attaching skeletal and soft tissue members and/or appliances. The device retracts anatomical structures along a linear track for a fixed locking engagement maintaining a surgical gap without direct manual assistance.
