Method and apparatus for distracting a joint, including the provision and use of a novel fluid joint spacer
A fluid joint spacer comprising a body having means for receiving a pressurized fluid from an external source and applying that pressurized fluid against a joint element so as to create a flowing fluid bearing within the joint.
PROBE UNIT, TREATMENT INSTRUMENT, AND TREATMENT SYSTEM
A probe unit includes, a probe configured to treat a bone by ultrasonic vibration, a hollow sheath which surrounds the probe and which has a first portion at a small distance from a central axis, and a second portion at a greater distance from the central axis than the first portion, and a knob configured to rotate the sheath relative to the probe between a first position for insertion between the bone and a living tissue facing the bone so that the first portion is located between the bone and the living tissue and a second position for insertion between the bone and the living tissue so that the second portion is located between the bone and the living tissue.
Multiple portal guide
The present disclosure relates to a guide assembly including a guide having a body and a joint including at least one through hole, wherein the joint is configured for sliding along a length of the body, and a first surgical device. The guide is coupled to the first surgical device and a longitudinal axis of the through hole is co-radial with an end of the first surgical device. Other guide assemblies and methods of creating multiple portals during surgery are also disclosed.
SYSTEMS FOR AND METHODS OF DIAGNOSING AND TREATING A SACROILIAC JOINT DISORDER
A method of treating a sacroiliac joint including: approaching the sacroiliac joint with an implant including a sensor supported by a body; delivering the implant either a) non-transversely into the sacroiliac joint, b) transversely across the sacroiliac joint, or c) up to the sacroiliac joint without insertion therein, the sensor providing a signal that indicates a present condition of the sacroiliac joint; receiving an input from a sensory indicator based on the signal from the sensor, the sensory indicator being in communication with the sensor, and wherein the input from the sensory indicator provides data associated with the signal; and, treating an ailment of the sacroiliac joint based at least in part on the input.
SET OF SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR AN ARTIFICIAL HIP JOINT IMPLANT
A set of surgical instruments for an artificial hip joint implant and, more specifically, a set of improved surgical instruments, can be used in direct anterior approach hip replacement surgery and are capable of minimizing damage, such as muscle damage, which may arise during surgery, by resolving problems that existing surgical instruments possess.
DUAL MOBILITY ACETABULAR CUP ASSEMBLY FOR ARTIFICIAL HIP JOINT
An implant for an artificial hip joint and, more specifically, a dual mobility acetabular cup assembly for an artificial hip joint is configured to have improved locking mechanism between a liner and a shell and improved resistance to micromotion and to guide the liner into the shell with proper orientation by providing stable liner-shell fastening structure to the acetabular cup assembly.
MAGNETIC IMPLANT FOR JOINT FIXATION AND METHOD
The present invention provides for a joint fixation device and method utilizing magnetic members with at least one magnetic member positioned on each of opposite sides of a joint and secured to skeletal components. The magnetic members include at least one permanent magnet. The magnetic members can be configured to provide an attracting force or a repelling force. They can also be configured to provide a torque about the joint.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR ACCESSING AND RETRACTING A CAPSULE OF A JOINT
Devices and methods are disclosed herein for accessing the hip joint. A first device can be securely attached to the capsule of a joint. The first device can tent the capsule to increase the volume of the peripheral compartment. A second device can be biased against the first device to pierce the tented capsule and create a portal. Devices and methods are also disclosed herein for distending the capsule of a joint. A distention device may access a portal established within the capsule. The distention device can expand the capsule by applying an expansive force within the peripheral compartment. The distention device can maintain distention of the peripheral compartment while other devices access the joint.
SURGICAL TABLE AND ACCESSORIES TO FACILITATE HIP ARTHROSCOPY
A system includes a surgical table, a pad disposed on a table portion of the surgical table, and a leg distraction unit configured for modular attachment to the surgical table, the leg distraction unit configured to apply a distraction force to a leg of the patient while the patient is positioned on the pad and the table portion is tilted so that the patient's head is below the patient's hip, wherein the table portion is capable of tilting to a tilt angle in which the distraction force applied to the leg of the patient is counteracted by a combination of a friction force provided by the pad and a force of gravity from the patient being tilted so that the patient is kept from sliding in a direction of the distraction force.
POSTERIOR-INFERIOR SACROILIAC JOINT FUSION PROCEDURE EMPLOYING AN IMPLANT HAVING A PAIR OF FIXATION MEMBERS CONNECTED BY A BRIDGE
A sacroiliac joint fusion procedure and implant designed for fixation in the dense bone of the SI joint inferior to the extra-articular recess. The implant includes an opening extending across the sacroiliac joint space, an iliac fixation member and a sacral fixation member connected to one another by a bridge where the pair of fixation members extend further distally than the bridge.
