KNEE TENSIONER WITH DIGITAL FORCE AND DISPLACEMENT SENSING
A tensioner tool for assessing joint laxity is disclosed. The tensioner tool comprises a pair of pivotally coupled arms, each arm comprising a proximal handle portion, a distal portion, and an insertion tip selectively coupled to the distal portion. The pair of arms pivot between a compressed configuration for insertion within the joint and an expanded configuration for distraction of the joint by applying a force to the handles, thus spreading the insertion tips. The tensioner tool also comprises a force sensor configured to measure the force applied to the handle portion and a positional sensor configured to measure a separation distance between the pair of arms. The tensioner tool also comprises a processor configured to calculate a distraction force at the insertion tips based on the measured force and to calculate a tip distance between the insertion tips based on the measured separation distance.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A surgical instrument, such as a capsular retractor, and methods of use are disclosed.
Systems for and methods of diagnosing and treating a sacroiliac joint disorder
Aspects of the present disclosure involve a method of diagnosing and treating a sacroiliac joint of a patient comprising: a) delivering a first member into the ilium via a first posterior approach; b) delivering a second member into the sacrum via a second posterior approach; and c) diagnosing an ailment of the sacroiliac joint by: manipulating the first member relative to the second member; or identifying joint movement via a sensor positioned in or near the sacroiliac joint.
Electronic force measuring joint distraction lever and method of use thereof
A joint distraction lever for use during a distraction procedure is disclosed. The joint distraction lever includes a lever body having a handle portion coupled to a working portion, a fulcrum extending from a bottom surface of the working portion of the lever body, a distal tip, wherein the distal tip is raised above a top surface of the working portion of the lever body, a force measurement device configured to measure a distraction force applied at the distal tip during a distraction procedure for a joint during which a torque is applied at the handle portion of the lever body, and a force value output configured to indicate the distraction force applied at the distal tip.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR JOINT DISTRACTION
A method of treating a patient's joint having opposing joint surfaces includes providing an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end and an expandable member near the distal end. The expandable member is positioned in the joint between the joint surfaces and expanded so as to separate the joint surfaces away from one another into a distracted position. The joint is manipulated while in the distracted position so that the joint is distracted and in flexion. A diagnostic or therapeutic procedure is then performed on the joint while maintaining the joint in the flexed and distracted position.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DISTRACTING A JOINT
A joint-spacing balloon catheter comprising: a shaft having a distal end and a proximal end; first and second balloons mounted to the distal end of the shaft, the first balloon being disposed distal to, and spaced from, the second balloon, with the portion of the shaft between the first and second balloons being flexible; and a handle attached to the proximal end of the shaft.
Probe unit, treatment instrument, and treatment system
A probe unit includes, a probe configured to treat a bone by ultrasonic vibration, a hollow sheath which surrounds the probe and which has a first portion at a small distance from a central axis, and a second portion at a greater distance from the central axis than the first portion, and a knob configured to rotate the sheath relative to the probe between a first position for insertion between the bone and a living tissue facing the bone so that the first portion is located between the bone and the living tissue and a second position for insertion between the bone and the living tissue so that the second portion is located between the bone and the living tissue.
METHOD FOR LUBRICATING AN ARTIFICIAL CONTACTING SURFACE
A method for implanting a medical device for implantation in a mammal joint. The method comprising the steps of creating an opening reaching from outside of the human body into the joint, providing said artificial contacting surface to said joint, fixating the artificial contacting surface to the joint, implanting said reservoir in the human body, and lubricating the artificial contacting surface with use of a lubricating fluid contained in said reservoir.
FEMORAL ELEVATOR DEVICE
A proximal femoral bone elevating device used during a total hip replacement surgical procedure for primarily lifting the proximal femoral bone outside the surgical wound to allow the surgeon for adequately ream and prepare the lifted bone for insertion of trials and implant into the medullary cavity of the proximal femur. The device comprises a main gearbox, a vertical shaft and a bone hook attachment which is placed under the trochanteric region of the proximal femur. The main gearbox is firmly attached over the sterile drapes to the side rails of conventional operating tables. Turning the crank handle will raise the vertical shaft and the bone hook thereby lifting the proximal femur outside the surgical wound.
Adjustable orthopaedic joint distractor
An orthopaedic joint distractor includes a stem post defining a pivoting axis, an actuator configured to cause translational movement of the stem post, a locking sleeve holding the actuator and the stem post, a distractor arc held by the locking sleeve orthogonally to the pivoting axis and having a surface, and a first locking member held by the locking sleeve that can be advanced away from and toward the surface. The first locking member prevents rotation of the distractor arc about the pivoting axis when it has advanced a sufficient distance toward the surface.
