APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR JOINT REPAIR
A bolster system having a first bolster device, a second bolster device, and an adjustable tether that includes a one-way pre-tied slideable adjustment knot. The adjustment knot is at a first position prior to insertion of the first bolster device into a passageway in one or more bones. The second bolster device includes a body portion having an outer portion that is sized to be received in the passageway and/or in an aperture of a bone plate. The body portion also includes a channel that is sized to accommodate recessed and/or embedded placement of the pre-tied slideable adjustment knot. The second bolster device can also include an oversized plate portion that abuts against a cortex of a bone or a wall of a bone plate. The second bolster device can also include a threaded member or retention tab that lockingly secures the second bolster device to a bone plate.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERCUTANEOUS LEAD ANCHORING
The invention described is comprised of a system and method for rapid fixation of a lead anchor. The system includes a lead anchor and insertion device. The insertion device houses a lead anchor. A lead is threaded through the insertion device and the device is depressed against the fascia to insert the lead anchor and fix the lead in the desired position. This method produces repeatable amount of lead body compression grasp force, and controlled bend radius. This results in rapid lead anchoring, lowers the risk of lead migration, prevents mechanical damage to the lead due to over-compression and eliminates the need for tying a suture.
Suture For Connecting A Human Or Animal Tissue, Soft Anchor And Method For Attaching A Tissue To A Bone
Described herein is a suture for connecting a human or animal tissue comprising a suture strand, wherein at least two protrusions are provided on the suture strand, the protrusions are provided spaced apart from each other along the suture strand. Also described herein is a soft anchor, the soft anchor having a proximal end and a distal end in an insertion direction. At the proximal end and the distal end the soft anchor includes respectively at least one opening for a suture. The proximal end and the distal end of the soft anchor are connected with at least one, in particular two, connecting portions. The soft anchor has a first state, in which it is adapted to be inserted into a bore in the insertion direction, and a second state, in which it is locked in a bore.
SUTURE ANCHOR
Provided is a suture anchor 10 for securing soft tissue 12 to bone 6. The suture anchor 10 comprises a strip 14 having first and second end portions 16 and 18 and a central portion 20 therebetween. Each end portion 16 and 18 defines an inner and an outer aperture 22 and 24, said central portion 20 defining a central aperture 21 and transverse lines of weakness 26 longitudinally on either side of said central aperture 21. A suture 28 is operatively threadable through the strip 14 such that the end portions 16 and 18 fold onto each other via the lines of weakness 26 to complementarily define a clasp portion 30 with the central portion 20 defining an expansion portion 32. In use, tensioning of the suture 28 urges the expansion portion 32 into an expanded position and clasps said suture 28 to the clasp portion 30.
Device for Heart Repair
A catheter device is described. The device is for implanting an artificial chordae line (14) in the heart. The catheter device comprises: a leaflet anchor (10) for placement in a leaflet (12) of a heart valve, wherein the leaflet anchor (10) is arranged to be coupled to the artificial chordae line (14); and a leaflet anchor deployment mechanism (6, 30, 38) for deploying the leaflet anchor (10), wherein the leaflet anchor deployment mechanism (6, 30, 38) comprises a mechanical gripper device (30, 32, 32′), for grasping the leaflet (12), wherein the gripper device (30, 32, 32′) comprises a leaflet anchor tube 38 for housing the leaflet anchor (10) in a folded configuration. The gripper device (6, 30, 38) and the leaflet anchor (10) are arranged such that when, in use, the gripper device (6, 30, 38) grasps the leaflet (12), the leaflet anchor (10) can be pushed out of the leaflet anchor tube (38) to pierce the leaflet (12) and form the leaflet anchor (10) into an unfolded configuration so that hooked formations of the leaflet anchor (10) can, in use, secure the leaflet anchor (10) in the leaflet (12). The mechanical gripper device (6, 30, 38) includes a first gripper arm (30) rotatably coupled to a main body (4) of the catheter device so that the gripper arm (30) can rotate relative to the catheter device to move an outer end (42) of the first gripper arm (30) away from the main body (4) of the catheter device and a second gripper arm (32, 32′) rotatably and/or slideably coupled to the main body (4) of the catheter device so that the second gripper arm (32, 32′) can rotate and/or slide relative to the main body (4) of the catheter device to move an outer end 46 of the second gripper arm (32, 32′) away from the main body (4). The first and second gripper arms (30, 32, 32′) are arranged so that they can move to come into contact with one another at a point spaced apart from the main body (4) of the catheter device.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR REPAIRING SOFT TISSUE AND ATTACHING SOFT TISSUE TO BONE
Devices, systems and/or methods for fixating soft tissue to bone are provided. In one embodiment, a repair device for fixating soft tissue to bone with a bone anchor includes a soft tissue anchor and one or more flexible members. The soft tissue anchor includes a base with multiple legs extending from the base. The one or more flexible members are coupled to the base and configured to extend from the base to the bone anchor with a fixed length. With this arrangement, the fixed length of the one or more flexible members is configured to maintain a substantially fixed pre-determined distance between the soft tissue anchor and the bone anchor such that, as the bone anchor is seated into bone, the one or more flexible members pulls the soft tissue anchor down against the soft tissue to fixate the soft tissue to the bone.
SURGICAL TOOLS AND ASSOCIATED GRAFT AUGMENTATION TECHNIQUES
This disclosure relates to surgical tools and methods. The surgical tools can include a handle, which includes an outer surface. A first rod extends from the handle and includes a first lumen. A second rod extends from the handle and includes a second lumen. A first set of suture cleating channels are formed in the outer surface. A second set of suture cleating channels are formed in the outer surface and spaced apart from the first set of suture cleating channels.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR COUPLING FLEXIBLE FILAMENT TO SOFT TISSUE
Devices, systems and/or methods for fixating soft tissue at a soft tissue site are provided. The system includes a base member with multiple passer devices that carry a first suture therewith. The passer devices and first suture are passed through soft tissue to form loops adjacent at least a portion of the passer devices along one side of the soft tissue. A second suture is threaded through each of the loops and the passer devices are removed from the soft tissue. In this manner, first and second sutures may be coupled to the soft tissue.
