TENSIONABLE AND LOCKABLE SOFT SUTURE ANCHORS AND ANCHOR ARRAYS FOR ANATOMICAL ATTACHMENT OF SOFT TISSUE TO BONE
Soft suture anchors are disclosed that can be formed into a pre-strung array with a common working suture. Each anchor includes the common working suture and a soft anchor member that is expandable when implanted. This allows first locking an individual anchor into a bone hole followed by tensioning the suture and independently locking the suture at the anchor. A first anchor is implanted through the tendon and the suture is locked. A second anchor is implanted a selected close distance from the first anchor, the working suture is tensioned between the first and second anchors, and the working suture is locked at the second anchor to create a single suture tensioned and locked stitch between the first and second anchor. This process is repeated for each anchor in the array.
Knotless Orthopedic Stabilization System and Related Methods
An orthopedic button assembly providing the ability to perform a soft tissue repair or bone repair using a method for securing sutures or fixation members in a knotless manner is described. The orthopedic button assembly of the present disclosure is designed in a manner to as to not rely on an additional component to perform the locking. The orthopedic button assembly of the present disclosure includes the ability to optimally tension the repair by pulling the tensionable fixation members (e.g. sutures) in the tensioning direction and prevent slippage of the tensionable fixation members in the opposite direction by capturing the tensionable fixation members in a manner such that pulling on the tensionable fixation members in the direction opposite of the tensioning direction (e.g., if connected tissue or bone were to attempt to “pull away” from the button assembly under tension) actually increases the tension, resulting in a tighter locking interface to increase the security of the repair.
Self-expanding ventricular partitioning device including anchor
A ventricular partitioning device for isolating damaged tissue within a ventricle of the heart is disclosed. The ventricular partitioning device includes a disk-shaped portion configured to isolate a portion of a ventricular wall to facilitate remodeling of the ventricular wall. The device further includes an anchor configured to secure the device to the ventricular wall.
Method and apparatus for coupling soft tissue to bone
A method and apparatus for coupling a soft tissue implant into a locking cavity formed within a bone is disclosed. A bone engaging fastener is coupled to bone. A second fastener is coupled to a suture construction. The second fastener is coupled to the first fastener. Soft tissue is coupled to the suture construction.
Median lobe destruction apparatus and method
A system and associated method for altering or destroying tissues and anatomical or other structures in medical applications for the purpose of treating diseases or disorders. In one aspect, the system includes a device configured to deploy devices for altering the lobes of a prostate.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUTURING TISSUE
In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, an apparatus for suturing tissue is provided that includes a body having a proximate end and a distal end. A suturing head is coupled to the distal end of the body, including a first set of curved needles, a second set of curved needles, and a plurality of sutures. A first end of a suture is coupled to one of the curved needles of the first set. A second end of the suture is coupled to one of the curved needles of the second set. The curved needles of the first set are oppositely oriented to the curved needles of the second set. The suturing head can be positioned between two substantially parallel sections of tissue. An actuator is coupled to the body to deploy the first and second sets of curved needles.
ANCHORING DEVICE FOR SOFT TISSUE REPAIR
Disclosed is a surgical device for soft tissue repair, including: a flexible anchor consisting of a textile braid forming a first arm and a second arm extending distally away from a vertex area; and at least one suture thread having a median portion placed near the vertex area and two strands passing through the braid transversely at several sites. The first strand passes through the braid alternately at two sites adjacent to the first arm and at two sites adjacent to the second arm, the sites passed through in sequence on the same arm moving away from the vertex zone. The second strand passes through the braid at least at two sites of the second arm, the sites passed through in sequence moving away from the vertex zone. The device is inserted into a hole made in a bone and assumes a compressed configuration after insertion.
SURGICAL PADS AND SPACERS
A surgical pad can comprise a flexible pad portion configured to be positioned over an opening in a target tissue. A plurality of elongate ribs can be distributed across a surface of the flexible pad portion oriented away from the target tissue and can be coupled to the flexible pad portion. A surgical pad can comprise a central opening configured to be aligned with an opening in a target tissue, and a plurality of edge openings distributed around an outer edge portion. A method can comprise positioning a spacer between a target tissue and a surgical pad to adjust the tension of surgical cords secured to surgical pad. A method can comprise positioning a spacer between a surface of a surgical pad oriented away from a target tissue and portions of surgical cords secured over the surface of the surgical pad, to adjust the tension of the surgical cords.
KNOTLESS SOFT TISSUE IMPLANT SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS
Knotless suture-based implant systems and related methods for joining bone and/or tissue portions is disclosed. The implant systems include a flexible anchor tube comprising an annular side wall defining an internal cavity, a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end. The implant systems also comprise a suture that extends through the side wall of the anchor tube a plurality of times and forms a free loop portion that extends from the side wall. The implant systems further comprise at least one suture passer extending through a portion of the loop portion of the suture configured to translate first and second end portions of the suture through the loop portion via translation of the at least one suture passer. The suture extends along a pattern that allows the suture to slide through the anchor tube when the first and second end portions of the suture are tensioned.
Longitudinal needle passer
A device for passing a needle and suture longitudinally through a target tissue includes a proximal jaw including a proximal recess and a proximal retention mechanism for releasably engaging a first end of a needle received within the proximal recess and a distal jaw movably coupled to the proximal jaw such that the proximal and distal jaws are longitudinally movable relative to one another. The distal jaw includes a distal recess and a distal retention mechanism for releasably engaging a second end of the needle received within the distal recess. The proximal and distal jaws are movable between a first state, in which the proximal retention mechanism is in a locked configuration and the distal retention mechanism is in an unlocked configuration, and a second state, in which the proximal retention mechanism is in an unlocked configuration and the distal retention mechanism is in a locked configuration.
