APPARATUS, DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR INCREASING FORCE DISTRIBUTION AT SUTURE-TISSUE INTERFACE
The present disclosure relates generally to apparatus, devices, and methods for increasing force distribution at a suture-tissue interface. In some embodiments, a tissue suturing device may include a deployment device and a plurality of tissue supports deployable from the deployment device towards a target tissue. The plurality of tissue supports may each include a central opening for receiving a suture during deployment.
Plantar plate repair
A kit for plantar plate repair may include implants and instruments specific to the procedure, such as an implant assembly, a needle assembly, a distractor, a needle driver, and k-wires. Methods of assembling the items of the kit and methods of plantar plate repair are disclosed.
ARTHROSCOPIC CANNULA AND SUTURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A flexible portal cannula for use in arthroscopic surgery. Distally positioned flaps extend radially outwardly from the outer surface of the cannula and are resiliently foldable to lie against the outer surface of the cannula during insertion into a surgical portal, and resiliently biased to return to the radially outwardly extending position when unconstrained. A clip disposed on the cannula outer surface outside of an arthroscopic workspace acts to clamp tissue disposed between the clip and the flaps. The clip has an extension to receive pairs of slots to sort and engage the sutures.
Suture repair device
An apparatus includes a handle, a cartridge configured to removably couple to the handle, an actuator movably coupled to the handle, and a lock operably coupled to the actuator. A first needle assembly and a second needle assembly of the cartridge are operably coupled to a first coupling portion and a second coupling portion, respectively, of the actuator when the cartridge is coupled to the handle. The first coupling portion is configured to transition the first needle assembly from a first configuration to a second configuration such that a first capture portion engages a first needle. The second coupling portion is configured to transition the second needle assembly from a first configuration to a second configuration such that a second capture portion engages the second needle. The lock is configured to selectively limit movement of the first coupling portion and the second coupling portion.
SUTURE NEEDLE PACKAGES FOR LOADING SUTURE NEEDLES AND METHODS OF PASSING SUTURE NEEDLES THROUGH TROCARS
A system for aligning a needle driver with a tip of a suture needle includes a suture needle package having a base, a needle driver alignment guide, and at least one connector for securing the suture needle. The needle driver alignment guide has first and second lateral guide walls that oppose one another for defining a needle driver guide channel. An end wall interconnects the first and second lateral guide walls for defining a distal end of the needle driver alignment guide. The at least one connector secures the suture needle over the base and controls the orientation of the suture needle so that a tip of the suture needle is located within the suture needle guide channel and is bounded by the end wall and the first and second lateral guide walls. A needle driver has a clamping assembly at a distal end that engages the end wall of the needle driver alignment guide for aligning the clamping assembly with the tip of the suture needle.
Suture delivery and/or retrieval device
A suture delivery device includes a base portion and a deployment portion extending from the base portion. The base portion defines a longitudinal axis. The deployment portion includes a plurality of petals extending along the longitudinal axis parallel to one another when the deployment portion is in a delivery position and extending radially outward from the longitudinal axis when the deployment portion is in a deployed position.
Suturing instrument with motorized needle drive
A surgical instrument includes a body, at least one user input feature, an elongate shaft, a needle applier, and a motor. The needle applier includes a needle and a drive assembly coupled to the needle. The drive assembly is configured to drive the needle along an orbital path about a rotation axis that is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the shaft, in response to an actuation of the user input feature. The motor is configured provide motion to the needle applier to thereby actuate the drive assembly.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY
Two part laparoscopic tools and surgical methods using such tools are presented. The tools and methods enable use of multiple surgical tools each having wide tool heads to be used in a body cavity using a single wide trocar and one or more narrow incisions, thereby reducing surgical risk and enhancing patient comfort and shortening recovery time. Additional instruments for facilitating laparoscopic surgery are also presented.
Suturing instrument with integrated cover needle release
A surgical instrument includes a body, a shaft, a cartridge receiving assembly, and a suture cartridge. The body has an actuator. The cartridge receiving assembly includes a pair of jaws. The suture cartridge includes a cartridge body, a needle, and a needle cover. The needle cover is releasably connected to the cartridge body such that the needle cover surrounds at least a portion of the needle. The needle cover is releasably connected to the body by at least one of a securement or a distal extension. The securement is located between the needle cover and the cartridge body to releasably connect the needle cover to the cartridge body. The distal extension projects from at least one of the first jaw or the second jaw and is configured to engage the needle cover thereby holding the needle cover to the cartridge body in the closed position.
WOUND CLOSURE DEVICE
A wound closure device for closing a surgical wound in a tissue, wherein the wound closure device includes a first jaw, a second jaw and a handle. The first jaw is arranged for receiving a first cartridge including a plurality of slots for holding wound closers and wherein the second jaw is provided with a plurality of tracks. The plurality of tracks guide a respective one of the male ends and a respective one of the female ends towards each other and to an interlocked state where the respective one of the male ends and the respective one of the female ends are interlocked with each other.
