Helical tissue anchor device and delivery system

A delivery system for delivering a plurality of helical tissue anchors to repair a wall defect. Coaxially contained within the outer sheath are inner tubular members. The first inner tubular member designed to deploy a first helical tissue anchor, a second inner tubular member designed to deploy a second helical tissue anchor, and a centered inner tubular member contains a cinching mechanism. The two helical tissue anchors are connected to a suture or strap that pull the two helical tissue anchors together to close a tissue defect. A cinching mechanism holds the anchors and tissue defect together and cut the suture or strap.

Treating dysfunctional cardiac tissue

Medical devices, systems, and methods reduce the distance between two points in tissue, often for treatment of congestive heart failure and often in a minimally invasive manner. An anchor is inserted along an insertion path through a first wall of the heart. An arm of the anchor is deployed and rotationally positioned according to a desired alignment. Application of tension to the anchor may draw the first and second walls of the heart into contact along a desired contour so as to effect a desired change in the geometry of the heart. Additional anchors may be inserted and aligned with the first anchor to close off a portion of a ventricle such that the ventricle is geometrically remodeled and disease progression is reversed, halted, and/or slowed.

Systems for securing sutures

Described herein are systems and methods for securing sutures that obviate the need for tying knots. Instead of tying two ends of a suture or two sutures together with a knot, two or more suture portions can be fused or cauterized together using heat. A device can be applied to adjacent suture portions that heats the suture portions and causes the suture portions to fuse together, effectively securing the suture portions together without a knot. Such devices can include a shaft, a heating element positioned within the shaft, and a suture holder at the distal end of the shaft. The holder in an open position receives sutures and in a closed position holds the sutures. Actuation of the device causes the heating element to apply heat and fuse together sutures held by the holder. The holder can separate from the fused sutures after the sutures are fused together.

An apparatus and method is disclosed for securing tissue to a bone comprising a novel screw anchor for insertion into a bone by a novel rotational driver. The screw anchor and rotation driver enables the screw to be completely embedded into the bone while permitting a suture to be threaded through a transverse aperture in the screw. The rotation driver facilitates insertion and engagement of a capture with one of a series of protuberance formed along a length of a suture. In addition, the method is disclosed of forming the series of protuberance.

Rotatable device and method for fixing tricuspid valve tissue

The present disclosure relates to repair devices, repair systems, and methods for repair of regurgitant tricuspid valves. A repair method includes positioning a repair device at a tricuspid valve. The repair device includes a pair of proximal arms and a pair of corresponding opposing distal arms, with each proximal arm and corresponding opposite distal arm forming an arm pair. The arms are actuated so that leaflet tissue is grasped between the proximal and distal arms, with a first leaflet being grasped by a first arm pair and a second leaflet being grasped by a second arm pair. A suture line is anchored at the second leaflet. Then, the repair device is pivoted to grasp and suture a third tricuspid leaflet to tie the second and third leaflets together. The clip remains deployed to tie the first and third leaflets together.

Suture locking device and method of locking thread

A locking member of a suture locking device includes a loop portion formed in an α-shape when viewed from a width direction, and a pair of extensions extending from the loop portion towards a distal side, and an intersection portion in which the pair of extensions intersect is formed at a distal end of the loop portion. The loop portion is inserted into the hollow portion from the distal side with the thread being inserted through an inner space of loop portion, and the thread is pulled from a proximal side towards the intersection portion in the inner space of the loop portion so that the thread is locked to the loop portion.

SUTURE TENSIONING AND SECUREMENT DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHODS

A system and methods for gathering, tensioning, and clamping a plurality of suture leads may be used for any of a range of possible surgical applications. The system includes a suture clamp assembly that includes receptacle and plug components, wherein suture leads passed into the receptacle are secured when the plug is inserted into the receptacle to lock the suture leads in place, a gathering suture that includes a gathering loop, an instrument for securement of the plurality of suture leads, and optionally an anchor affixed to the gathering suture. The system may be used to address rotator cuff repairs, labral repair, biceps tenodesis, acromioclavicular joint stabilization, and applications in other joints and bones within a body.

Methods, systems, and devices for positioning sutures for closing an opening in tissue

A closure device for closing an opening in tissue that includes a needle actuation handle that cooperates with a housing. A hollow needle is selectively movable by the needle actuation handle, the needle including a slot extending proximally from a distal end of the needle. A suture anchor is positioned within and selectively releasable from the slot and coupled to a suture. A portion of the suture anchor extends proximally along an outer surface of the needle as the needle is advanced through tissue adjacent the opening.

TISSUE REMODELING SYSTEM AND METHODS
20220211500 · 2022-07-07 ·

Systems and methods for remodeling of tissue, such as heart tissue. In some configurations, the systems and methods are directed toward remodeling of the mitral valve of a patient. The systems and methods can include a first tissue anchor, a second tissue anchor, a suture that extends between the tissue anchors, and a suture lock that secures the suture relative to at least one of the tissue anchors or fixes a length of the suture. The systems and methods can also include a suture trimmer that can trim an excess portion of the suture. In some configurations, the suture lock is reversible to allow for iterative adjustments of the remodeling. In some configurations, the tissue anchors include a feature or features, such as one or more barbs, to inhibit removal of the tissue anchor from an implanted position within tissue.

Methods for transtendinous implantation of knotless micro suture anchors and anchor arrays

A method and apparatus are provided for transtendinous implantation of a toggle-type bone anchor. Measured from the top surface of the tendon, the entire bone anchor is inserted to a depth of greater than or equal to 20 mm. during a rotator cuff repair on the humeral head. The anchor is pushed by the same bone punch that formed the initial hole to assure proper depth of placement. Further, the apparatus includes a nub portion that, in use, protrudes into the bone hole formed by the bone punch and maintains registration with the bone hole when the bone punch is retracted. An angled distal end on the anchor initiates toggling during insertion into the bone and at least one proximal projecting fin prevents the anchor from backing out of the bone hole while facilitating further rotation of the anchor when a suture is pulled to complete toggling.
