CAUSING ISCHEMIA IN TUMORS
20220280193 · 2022-09-08 ·

A method for treating a tumor at least partially within an organ in a subject's body. The method comprises volumetrically compressing the tumor to increase a pressure within the tumor above a threshold level to cause ischemia of the tumor; and maintaining the pressure above the threshold level for a period sufficient to cause necrosis in the tumor. The method may include passing a tension member within the organ around a predetermined volumetric region encompassing at least a portion of the tumor. The method may include tightening the tension member to cause compression of the volumetric region, thereby directly increasing a pressure within the tumor. The method may include maintaining the increased pressure such that most or all tissues of the tumor undergo ischemia and/or necrosis resulting directly from the compression caused by the tightened tension member.

The present disclosure relates to a skin lifting thread inserting device and, more specifically, to a thread inserting device capable of enhancing a lifting effect by using a single cog thread connected to a plurality of needles. A thread inserting device for a skin lifting treatment according to one embodiment of the present disclosure comprises: first and second needles (10a, 10b); and first and second handles (20a, 20b), wherein the thread (100) extends from the opening (11a) formed at the distal end of the first needle (10a) to the opening (11b) formed at the distal end of the second needle (10b).

Device and method for passing tension member around tissue mass

Disclosed are an apparatus and method for forming a passage extending along a plane crossing an organ's volumetric region from an entry point to an opposing exit point at a surface of the organ, and for passing a tension member around the volumetric region by pulling the tension member from the exit point to the entry point through the passage. The apparatus can include a rigid outer tube with a tip for penetrating the organ and reach a penetration depth; an inner needle with an elastic body configured to pass straightened through the outer tube lumen and to partially protrude and voluntarily flex to a curved form greater than the diameter of the volumetric region; and a tension member passer with a pulling portion for engaging with a portion of the tension member and for pulling the tension member when withdrawn.

Anchor delivery systems

Anchor delivery systems include anchors having a generally cylindrical body with a rail on top for positioning within a delivery device slot. The rail incorporates a side-bulge as a retaining feature which axially extends along a majority of the length of the rail. The bulge interferes with a corresponding hourglass cutout in the delivery device slot to prevent the anchor from stripping out of the delivery device when the delivery device is retracted through tissue. The anchors are symmetrical along a length and width to facilitate loading within the delivery device. The distal portion of the delivery device includes a series of distally-extending barbs that intentionally change the penetration force required to push the device tip through tissue.

Treating dysfunctional cardiac tissue

Medical devices, systems, and methods reduce the distance between two points in tissue, often for treatment of congestive heart failure and often in a minimally invasive manner. An anchor is inserted along an insertion path through a first wall of the heart. An arm of the anchor is deployed and rotationally positioned according to a desired alignment. Application of tension to the anchor may draw the first and second walls of the heart into contact along a desired contour so as to effect a desired change in the geometry of the heart. Additional anchors may be inserted and aligned with the first anchor to close off a portion of a ventricle such that the ventricle is geometrically remodeled and disease progression is reversed, halted, and/or slowed.

A system using a guide to assist in insertion of a helicoidal member in a target biological tissue. The system adheres to tissues using suction to allow insertion of the helicoidal member.

Suture passing instrumentation and methods of use thereof

The instant disclosure is directed to methods and devices for passing suture bi-directionally using a hybrid approach. Embodiments of a method described herein include steps of advancing a suture at least partially through tissue; and retrieving the suture; wherein one of the steps of advancing and retrieving comprises manipulating the suture directly, and wherein the other step of advancing and retrieving comprises manipulating a suture trap to which the suture is coupled. Embodiments of a device that may be used to practice the method embodiments include a bi-directional suture passer having a proximal portion for holding a portion of a suture therein; a distal tip coupled to the proximal portion and defining a tissue receiving gap there-between; a reciprocally moveable suture passing member housed within the proximal portion for translating the suture portion between the proximal portion and the distal tip; and a suture trap operable to be detachably coupled to the distal tip for capturing the suture passed by the suture passing member.

FLEXIBLE SYSTEM FOR DELIVERING AN ANCHOR

A system and associated method for manipulating tissues and anatomical or other structures in medical applications for the purpose of treating diseases or disorders or other purposes. In one aspect, the system includes a delivery device including a flexible portion that is suited to access target anatomy. The flexibility of an elongate portion of the delivery device can be varied. Additionally, the delivery device can include structure that maintains the positioning of the delivery device in patient anatomy.

Rotatable device and method for fixing tricuspid valve tissue

The present disclosure relates to repair devices, repair systems, and methods for repair of regurgitant tricuspid valves. A repair method includes positioning a repair device at a tricuspid valve. The repair device includes a pair of proximal arms and a pair of corresponding opposing distal arms, with each proximal arm and corresponding opposite distal arm forming an arm pair. The arms are actuated so that leaflet tissue is grasped between the proximal and distal arms, with a first leaflet being grasped by a first arm pair and a second leaflet being grasped by a second arm pair. A suture line is anchored at the second leaflet. Then, the repair device is pivoted to grasp and suture a third tricuspid leaflet to tie the second and third leaflets together. The clip remains deployed to tie the first and third leaflets together.
