Surgical instruments comprising a lockable end effector socket
A surgical instrument comprising a shaft and an end effector is disclosed. The end effector is releasably attachable to the shaft by a lock biased into a locked condition to hold the end effector to the shaft.
Suture passing device
A suture passing device includes a jaw assembly that is moved to an open configuration after exiting a hollow needle distal tip and moved to a closed configuration when retracted into the needle tip. The jaw assembly may include a pair of jaw members biased to a default diverging configuration. A suture capturing mechanism formed on the jaw members securely captures suture to both push and pull the captured when the jaw assembly is retracted into the hollow distal tip. The device may also include a second suture capturing mechanism that loosely captures suture and enables the captured suture to slide.
System and method for securing an implant to tissue
A system and method for securing a medical implant within a patient includes disposing an anchor element around the implant, the anchor element including a pair of tabs each including an eyelet, and a flexible intermediate portion between the tabs, by positioning the implant within the intermediate portion and folding the anchor element such that the tabs contact one another. The anchor element is positioned at a desired implantation position with the tabs proximate soft tissue of the patient. The method further includes inserting a distal tip of a fixation element delivery tool through the eyelets and into the soft tissue, the fixation element including at least one tissue anchor and an adjustable suture arrangement coupled to the tissue anchor. The tissue anchor is deployed from the delivery tool and into the soft tissue of the patient. The delivery tool is withdrawn and the adjustable suture arrangement is tightened.
BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA TREATMENT DEVICE
A benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment device. The benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment device includes: an anchor assembly including a pair of first and second anchors arranged at upper and lower portions of the outer surface of the prostate gland, and a ligature connecting the first and second anchors with each other so that the first and second anchors continuously compress the prostatic tissues to secure the opening of the prostatic urethra; a sheath inserted into the urethra and having a needle, which guides the anchor assembly to be deployed at the prostate gland; a needle manipulation part for manipulating movement of the needle so that the needle is deployed through an end portion of the sheath.
Tissue Repair Device and Method to Repair Tissue by Deploying Implants
Exemplary embodiments of a tissue repair device to repair tissue by deploying implants, comprising: a selector knob is configured to allow a user to change from a default position to a first position, position is indicated by a window positioned on a handle; a depth control knob is configured to adjust an exposure length of a needle under a depth control sheath to an appropriate or desired length to deploy a first implant and a second implant to secure with a tissue, a deployment knob is configured to push a pusher rod to deploy first implant from needle for delivering of a flexible member to secure tissue, deployment knob is configured to automatically spring back to a pre-specified position after deploying first implant from needle, deployment knob configured to push pusher rod to deploy second implant from needle for delivering of flexible member to secure tissue.
FISTULA TREATMENT DEVICE
A fistula treatment system comprises a guide such as a guide coil 1101 which is adapted to extend partially around a tissue tract and an implant element 1102. The implant element 1102 is activated to draw tissue surrounding the tract inwardly.
TAPERED TRANSITION PORTION FOR SUTURE NEEDLES
Disclosed is a suturing needle having a tapered transition portion extending from a proximal end of the needle to cover at least a portion of a suture thread swaged on the needle. The tapered transition portion is flexible and provides a smooth transition from a diameter of the suture thread to a diameter of the needle body. The tapered transition portion allows for engaging the suture needle on rollers of a rotational needle driver in one smooth motion.
Methods and devices for repairing and anchoring damaged tissue
Methods and devices are provided for anchoring suture to tissue, incorporating anchoring devices constructed substantially from suture. The anchoring devices are constructed as longitudinally extended, preformed knot configurations that upon deployment are reconfigured to form anchoring knots having an increased cross-section relative to the preformed knot configuration, for secure lodging in tissue. The anchoring devices are suitable for single and multi-anchor surgical procedures in soft tissue or bone, and multiple anchors can be delivered using a single delivery device.
Barbed nasal implant and method for adjustable repair and re-positioning of the nasal valve ligament
A method and device for non-surgically repairing and augmenting internal nasal valve ligaments of a patient. The method and device comprise tunneling a working device subcutaneously into the ligaments of the nasal valve and the surrounding soft tissues and periosteum of the adjacent bony structures, causing a tightening of the nasal valve ligaments and repositioning the nasal valve in adjustable fashion. A device comprising a barbed elongate implant is introduced by tunneling subcutaneously into the nasal valve ligament allowing for structural re-positioning of the nasal valve cartilage structures and tightening of the ligaments, which is adjustable intra-operatively and allows for structural support of the nose and/or causes a change in the external shape of the nose.
KNOTLESS SUTURES INCLUDING INTEGRATED CLOSURES
Self-retaining sutures having a first end for penetrating tissue and an elongated suture body comprising a plurality of intermittent apertures structured to enable formation of knotless suture loop closures that securely hold opposing tissue faces together due to the presence of the intermittent apertures through the suture that permit one-way passage of the suture body thus forming a self-retaining or self-engaging loop in the suture that does not slip backwards. Once a desired loop size is formed between tissue faces by pulling the suture through one of the intermittent apertures in the suture thread, the suture thread is clipped and a further loop is begun using the remainder of the suture thread affixed to the suture needle.
