In one embodiment, the present invention is a system for repairing a meniscus including: a suture assembly including a first anchor, a second anchor, and a flexible suture connecting the first anchor and the second anchor, the flexible suture including a slide knot between the first anchor and the second anchor; and an inserter including a needle having a longitudinal extending bore and an open distal end, the bore being configured to receive the first anchor and the second anchor, a housing operatively connected to a proximal end of the needle, the housing having a lumen and a slot, the slot including a first portion, a second portion, a first shoulder and a second shoulder and a pusher configured to rotate and slide within the lumen of the housing and the longitudinal extending bore of the needle, the pusher having an extension extending through the slot and configured to be maneuverable through the first portion and second portion and engageable with the first shoulder and second shoulder.
CURLED SUTURE DEVICE APPARATUS AND METHOD
The present invention provides a suturing device to minimize interference and obstructions during intricate surgeries. The curled suture device is significantly shorter than traditional suturing kits by featuring a needle attached to a specially manufactured thread incorporating a stopping mechanism preceding an angular, semi-rigid portion of thread followed by a curled portion of thread arranged in a corkscrew configuration. The stopping mechanism halts the movement of the thread as the needle and thread intermediate the needle and stopping mechanism is pulled through the suture point, securing the remainder of the thread for access. The semi-rigid portion of thread is thereby utilized in conjunction with its curled portion of thread, allowing for the user's unabated access to the corkscrew configuration to form a ready-made knot, minimizing interference and obstruction during surgery. The thread may be manufactured to form an additional semi-rigid and curled portions of thread upon creation of a knot.
Suture-based closure with hemostatic tract plug
Devices for closing a passage through tissue communicating with a body lumen. The device may include an elongate body, a sheath disposed at the distal end of the device for disposition within a body lumen, a hollow needle disposed within a needle lumen of the body, the needle being selectively advanceable through the needle lumen, a suture-anchor ejection mandrel disposed within the hollow needle that is also selectively advanceable through the hollow needle, a suture-anchor and suture disposed within the hollow needle, a distal end of the suture attached to the suture anchor for ejection out the hollow needle by the mandrel. A needle guide disposed between the sheath and proximal end of the body may include a needle port through which the needle can exit. A hemostatic plug is disposed over the needle port so as to be penetrated by the needle upon exiting the port.
Bio paracentesis needle and method for manufacturing the same
A bio paracentesis needle includes a tube-shaped body having a hollow portion through which a suture is inserted, an insertion portion formed at an end of the body to cut skin and insert the body, and at least one removal cut to an inside of the body to remove waste under the skin when the body is inserted. The insertion portion includes a first inclined edge having a diagonal surface inclined downward in a direction from a first end of the both to the hollow portion, a second inclined edge having a diagonal surface inclined upward from a second end of the body to the first inclined edge, the second end being positioned opposite the first end, and a third inclined edge has a diagonal surface inclined downward in a direction from an end of the first inclined edge to the second inclined edge.
Operative communication of light
A surgical access assembly comprises a trocar and a surgical instrument. The trocar comprises a housing and an access tube extending distally from the housing. The housing comprises a hollow light emitter. The housing and the access tube define a lumen extending through the housing and the access tube. The hollow light emitter is configured to project light in the lumen. The surgical instrument comprises an end effector and a shaft extending proximally from the end effector. The shaft comprises an optical receiver positioned within reach of the light from the hollow light emitter. The shaft further comprises a light guide extending from the optical receiver along at least a portion of the shaft toward the end effector.
SURGICAL CLIP APPLIER COMPRISING AN AUTOMATIC CLIP FEEDING SYSTEM
A surgical clip applier is disclosed which is configured to automatically feed a clip from a clip cartridge once the surgical clip applier is positioned in the patient.
Expandable needle suture apparatus and associated handle assembly with rotational suture manipulation system
A surgical suturing device (10) having an axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end is operable to move a suture (32) through body tissue (34). A handle assembly (110) is coupled to an elongated shaft (14) having a hollow configuration. An actuating rod (16) is disposed to extend between the handle assembly (110) and the shaft (14). A thumb actuation assembly is coupled to a proximal end of the actuating rod (16) for moving the rod both axially and rotationally. A needle assembly (2) at the distal end of the actuating rod (16) is movable with the actuating rod (16) between an extended state and a retracted state and at various angular orientations.
KNOT FOR SUTURING AND SUTURING DEVICE
A knot for suturing includes a temporary knot for suturing a wound, in which the temporary knot has a first loop extending form a start part and wound clockwise, a ring part extending from the first loop and formed at different position from the first loop, a second loop extending from the ring part and wound counterclockwise at the same position as the first loop, and a spare part extending from the second loop to be pulled by a suturing needle. A suturing device includes a suturing needle formed in a hook shape at a front end of a suturing body formed in a plate shape to pierce a wound and a knot supply unit disposed on the suturing body and holding and supplying knots for suturing toward the suturing needle so that the suturing needle stitches the wound.
Method for approximating wounds
A method for approximating a wound using a uni-directional, barbed wound closure device having a needle and a stop element. The method includes taking a first pass by entering intact tissue at a location in proximity to the first apex and exiting in intact tissue at a location away from and above said first apex, pulling the wound closure device until the stop element is seated above the tissue plane, moving back toward the first apex and taking at least a second pass in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first pass at a location above or adjacent to the first apex, moving in a direction toward the second apex, approximating the wound using a continuous suturing pattern, moving toward the first apex, taking at least two passes across the wound, and cutting off a free end of the wound closure device in proximity to a surface of the tissue.
