TISSUE LIGATION DEVICES AND CONTROLS THEREFOR
Described here are devices for closing one or more tissues, and handles for controlling these devices. Generally, the devices described here comprise a snare loop assembly, wherein the snare loop assembly comprises a snare and a suture loop, and a handle for controlling the snare loop assembly. In some variations the snare loop assembly may comprise a retention member that may releasably connect the suture loop to the snare. In other variations the devices comprise one or more force-reducing suture locks to help prevent the suture loop from inadvertently disengaging from the snare loop assembly. In still other variations, the excess-suture management features. The handles described here may be configured to remove excess suture from a suture loop, and may also be configured to release the suture loop from the snare loop assembly.
Devices and methods for suture placement
A suturing device includes a curved needle, a suture, an elongate body, an actuator and a curved needle holder. The suture connects with the curved needle. The actuator is operable between a first operating position and a second operating position. The curved needle holder extends away from a distal end portion or is provided as part of the distal end portion of the elongate body. The curved needle holder includes a distal end section having a distal-most tip. The curved needle holder defines a curved needle passage and a distal opening. Movement of the actuator from the first operating position toward the second operating position moves the curved needle with respect to the curved needle holder toward a released condition. The distal end section is configured to allow the curved needle to release from the curved needle holder at a location offset from the distal-most tip.
CHIRAL NEEDLE PACKAGES AND RECEPTACLES
A chiral needle package and receptacle are configured together so as to allow a user to configure the suture package and receptacle in a first chiral configuration for right handed use and a second chiral configuration for left handed use. The chirality configurable suture package and needle receptacle can be configured in many ways, and may comprise a first cover on a first side to allow access to the one or more needles and the needle receptacle on first side corresponding to right handed use and chirality, and a second cover on a second side corresponding to left handed use and chirality. The chirality configurable suture package can be packaged with the chirality configurable needle receptacle in order to dispense and to receive needles, such that the suture package and the needle trap are packaged together in a sterile housing configured for right handed use or left-handed use.
INVENTORY SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
The present disclosure is also directed to a system for managing inventory within a dispenser that is configured to maintain a known inventory and is configured to transmit inventory values from the dispenser so that other users can review the inventory values. Also, the dispenser is configured to be accessed by users locally and through an internet connection so that the inventory can be reviewed.
Articulation control features for suturing instrument
A surgical instrument for treating a patient includes a shaft assembly and a body assembly. The shaft assembly includes a proximal end portion, a distal end portion, and an articulation joint operable to selectively articulate the distal end portion relative to the proximal end portion. The body assembly includes a joint drive assembly, an actuator, and a joint stabilizer. The joint drive assembly is operatively connected to the articulation joint and configured to actuate the articulation to thereby articulate the distal end portion relative to the proximal end portion. The actuator is configured to actuate the joint drive assembly for articulating the articulation joint. The joint stabilizer includes a detent abutment and a detent notch configured to releasably capture the joint drive assembly and thereby inhibit articulation of the distal end portion of the shaft assembly relative to the proximal end portion of the shaft assembly.
Devices and methods for suture placement
A suturing device includes an elongate body, an actuator, a needle holder and a knot pusher. The elongate body includes a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The actuator interacts with the elongate body and is operable between a first operating position and a second operating position. The needle holder extends away from the distal end portion or is provided as part of the distal end portion of the elongate body, and includes a distal end section having a distal-most tip. The needle holder defines a needle passage and a distal opening adjacent the distal-most tip. The knot pusher connects with and extends away from at least one of the elongate body and the needle holder.
Adjustable anchor systems and methods
An adjustable anchor system provides for securing tissue to bone and includes an anchor with a collapsible suture loop affixed thereto and a tissue suture connected to the collapsible suture loop. After the tissue suture is loaded into the tissue and the anchor implanted into the bone the collapsible loop is collapsed to tension the tissue suture.
Suturing kit and package
A suturing kit includes a suture and a suture holder for holding the suture. The suture has a first end and a second, opposite, end. The suture holder includes an elongated wall defining a suture receiving passage that is elongated along a longitudinal axis and terminates at a suture exit opening. The suture receiving passage has a width at least twice the diameter of the suture and receives the suture such that the suture is folded over forming a half loop section spaced from the suture exit opening. A first second of the suture extends from the half loop section toward the first end and a second section of the suture extends from the half loop section towards the second end. The first section and the second section of the suture within the suture receiving passage are aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INCREASED OPERATING ROOM EFFICIENCY
Systems, devices and methods to improve safety and efficiency in an operating room comprise providing a suture package that holds new suture needles and needle receptacles for storing used needles. The devices can be safely worn for the surgeon to self-dispense new suture needles in the near surgical field and to secure the used needles into a needle trap or a needle retainer located on his extremity, on his operative instruments or on the surgical drapes. The device may provide automated and/or simplified needle counting both during use and after removal from the surgical field. The device may be configured for ergonomic and efficient use so as to minimize the actions and motions of the surgeon to dispense and secure the needle.
