The surgical suture package includes: a main body including a base plate, an outer wall portion, and an inner wall portion providing a portion accommodating a suture; a fixing clip serving to fasten a suture needle coupled to an end of the suture; multiple protruding bumps; and multiple cover members provided on an upper portion of the inner wall portion, and configured to cover above the suture in a manner being bent outward and being hooked on lower surfaces of the protruding bumps to keep being bent such that the suture accommodated in the accommodating portion is prevented from being released, wherein a label is provided on an upper part of the main body to provide product information including a product name and is fastened by inserting an edge thereof between the protruding bumps and the cover members.

SUTURE PACKAGING

Packaging for a suture, comprising: a base (1) comprising a receiving zone (6, 8) for receiving a suture, a lid (62), means for locking the lid (62) to the base (1), comprising a first slot (58) formed in one among the base (1) and the lid (62), and a first flap (72) formed in the other among the base (1) and the lid (62),
wherein the first flap (72) has a shape and dimensions adapted to: be engaged through the first slot (58) when the lid (62) has a first orientation with respect to the base (1), then be blocked athwart the first slot (58) by rotation of the lid (62) from the first orientation to a second orientation of the lid with respect to the base in which the lid covers at least in part the suture receiving zone (6, 8).

Surgical sutures incorporated with stem cells or other bioactive materials

Materials and methods for immobilizing bioactive molecules, stem and other precursor cells, and other agents of therapeutic value in surgical sutures and other tissue scaffold devices are described herein. Broadly drawn to the integration and incorporation of bioactive materials into suture constructs, tissue scaffolds and medical devices, the present invention has particular utility in the development of novel systems that enable medical personnel performing surgical and other medical procedures to utilize and subsequently reintroduce bioactive materials extracted from a patient (or their allogenic equivalents) to a wound or target surgical site.

Systems and methods for increased operating room efficiency

Systems, devices and methods to improve safety and efficiency in an operating room comprise providing a suture package that holds new suture needles and needle receptacles for storing used needles. The devices can be safely worn for the surgeon to self-dispense new suture needles in the near surgical field and to secure the used needles into a needle trap or a needle retainer located on his extremity, on his operative instruments or on the surgical drapes. The device may provide automated and/or simplified needle counting both during use and after removal from the surgical field. The device may be configured for ergonomic and efficient use so as to minimize the actions and motions of the surgeon to dispense and secure the needle.

A suture package for retaining a barbed suture is provided. The suture package includes a suture retaining member including an outer wall and an inner wall. The inner wall is radially spaced from the outer wall and defines a suture retaining area therebetween. The inner wall defines a needle retaining area and includes at least one opening therein to permit reception of at least one suture therethrough. The outer wall includes a plurality of inwardly extending tabs configured to engage a cover. The suture package further includes a cover configured to be received within the outer wall of the suture retaining member and to selectively engage the inwardly extending tabs formed thereon.

Universal Winding Machine for a Multitude of Tray Designs

A machine for winding sutures into a suture tray package comprises a base platform, a plurality of package nests, a first workstation for placing an empty tray onto one of the package nests, a further workstation for feeding a needle with an attached suture in the tray and parking said needle in the tray, a winding station for winding the suture into a winding channel of the tray, a lid placement station for placing a lid onto one of the package nests, a lid attachment station for attaching the lid to the tray, and an offloading station for removing said trays from the package nests. The further workstation comprises two tweezer grippers, at least one of said tweezer grippers having a V- or U-shaped notch, said V- or U-shaped notch being located at the inside of the notched tweezer gripper facing the second tweezer gripper.

A suture attaching station attaches a needle and a suture to form a single combination. The setup of the crimping unit is facilitated by using an offline measuring fixture. The offline measuring fixture is calibrated by placing a precision gage block into the measuring fixture and then zeroing a digital measuring unit. The gage block is then replaced by the desired crimping die and the reading is noted as an offset for the servo drive of the suture attaching station. This offset is used to set the zero point of the crimping die centre.
