Various embodiments incorporate an end effector in a magnetic anastomosis device system. The end effector is located between the handle of an endoscope or laparoscope and the distal end of the catheter. The end effector engages with and secures the magnetic anastomosis device assembly within a body lumen. The end effector is able to hold a magnetic device or devices with a tensile strength of 0-10 lbs. The end effector is small enough that two instruments of 1.8 mm diameter or smaller may be placed in a 3.7 mm working channel of an endoscope.

PRESSURE PROFILE MAGNETIC COMPRESSION ANASTOMOSIS DEVICES
20240074759 · 2024-03-07 ·

Compression anastomosis devices having a plurality of distinct pressure profile zones on the surface of the device. The anastomosis devices may be comprised of a plurality of magnetic connecting members arranged in an annular geometry, e.g., a polygon or circle. The anastomosis device may also be a continuous, non-segmented magnet, or other compression anastomosis device. The compression anastomosis device is deployed into a body lumen, e.g., endoscopically and/or laparoscopically, at a target site. A second compression anastomosis device is placed at an adjacent target site in an adjacent lumen. The compression anastomosis devices are brought together and mate, e.g., magnetically, creating an anastomosis.

A positioning wand for assisting in positioning at least one of a first magnetic implant and a second magnetic implant configured for forming an anastomosis between two adjacent walls of a digestive tract of a patient is provided. The positioning wand can include an elongated member sized and configured to be inserted into an abdominal cavity of the patient, and a distal tip provided at a distal end of the elongated member. The distal tip can include a guide magnet configured to magnetically couple with the at least one of the first and second magnetic implants through a wall of the digestive tract to position the at least one of the first and second magnetic implants to a desired site of the anastomosis. The distal tip can be configured to be moveable in response to a contact pressure upon contact with the wall of the digestive tract.

MAGNETIC COMPRESSION ANASTOMOSIS DEVICE WITH MULTIPIECE VERTEBRA

A compression anastomosis system comprises matching first and second compression ring devices (1, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90), each compression ring device configured for adjustment from an elongated delivery configuration suitable for passing through a minimally invasive surgical instrument to a deployed radially expanded configuration dimensioned to circumferentially abut an inner wall of a body lumen. The compression rings comprise coupling elements (20, 41, 56, 57) for coupling the rings together in a face-to-face compression anastomosis configuration, and each compression ring device has a radially outward facing surface (10) comprising tissue anchors (12, 58) configured to anchor the ring to the wall of the body lumen when the ring is deployed in the body lumen. A method of forming a compression anastomosis in a body lumen such as a colon is also described.

Methods and apparatus for magnet-induced compression anastomosis between adjacent organs

Methods and apparatus for creating an anastomosis or fistula between the gallbladder and an adjacent organ are disclosed. First, a parent magnet, typically a permanent magnet, is deployed in the stomach, small intestine, or another organ adjacent to the gallbladder, and a mating daughter material is deployed in the gallbladder in order to create a magnet-compression anastomosis. The gallbladder may then be ablated or otherwise functionally inactivated through the anastomosis. Another aspect of the invention relates to an all-in-one surgical kit that contains all the necessary specialized tools for a surgeon to perform the procedure.

MAGNETIC ANASTOMOSIS DEVICES

Embodiments of the present invention provide a magnetic anastomosis device (MAD), a delivery catheter for the MAD, and a method for treating at least one of diabetes, obesity, digestive disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In embodiments of the present invention, a pair of the MADs are delivered in body lumen by endoscopic and/or laparoscopic techniques. An anastomosis between two adjacent body lumens is formed by compression of the pair of MADs followed by necrosis and regeneration of the lumen tissue. The bodily fluids are then redirected through the formed anastomosis to relieve disease symptoms.
