A process control device includes an interface configured to communicate with other devices in a process control system. The process control device also includes a primary power source, the primary power source configured to provide power to at least one component of the process control device, which component, if not powered, would result in disruption to the control of the process. The process control device still further includes a terminal configured to electrically couple the process control device to an auxiliary power source such that the auxiliary power source provides sufficient power to the at least one component when the auxiliary power source is connected to the terminal such that the process control device remains operable to control the process in the absence of the primary power source.

Machine tool apparatus

A touch trigger probe interface for a machine tool is described that includes a probe communication portion for receiving probe event information from a touch trigger probe. A machine tool communication portion is also provided for outputting probe event information to a numerical controller of the machine tool. The machine tool communication portion outputs the probe event information as digital data packets, for example over a digital data bus. The digital data packets may include a time stamp and/or the touch trigger probe interface may receive timing information from the machine tool. A touch trigger probing system and a machine tool system including the probe interface are also described.

Method for parametering a field device

A method for parametering a field device of automation technology by means of a service device. The field device includes at least a battery, a radio module and a non-volatile memory. The battery supplies the radio module and the non-volatile memory, in which parameters of the field device are stored, with energy. The method comprises the steps of: establishing a wireless connection between the servicing device and the battery operated radio module of the field device, wherein the field device is operated offline; reading and/or writing parameters of the field device stored in the non-volatile memory; terminating the wireless connection between the servicing device and the battery operated radio module of the field device; connecting the field device to a two-wire line for energy supply of the field device; and parametering the field device after connecting to the two-wire line, wherein, for parametering, at least parameters stored in the non-volatile memory are accessed.

Apparatus for the Computer Assisted Setup of a Machine Tool Table

An apparatus to assist a machinist in the setup of a remote computer controlled machine tool table has an X-axis electronic gauge block assembly, a Y-axis electronic gauge block assembly, and a Z-axis electronic gauge block assembly each positioned on the machine tool table, to respectively collect X-axis probe position values, Y-axis probe position values, and Z-axis probe position values. Environmental sensors collect environmental values. An electronics processing system establishes a raw X-axis probe position, a raw Y-axis probe position, and a raw Z-axis probe position. A wireless interface transmits the environmental values, the raw X-axis probe position value, the raw Y-axis probe position value, and the raw Z-axis probe position value to the remote computer and receives from the remote computer refined probe position values to assist the machinist in the setup of the machine tool table.

A power management circuit comprises an energy pump, a control circuit and a power consuming circuit. The power management circuit is connected in serial with a current loop in a serial connection with a field device to cause a regulated voltage drop across the serial connection at an insertion voltage and to output an electrical power derived from the insertion voltage. The energy pump inputs at least a portion of the insertion voltage, and a feedback sense, and output a charging voltage based on the feedback sense. The charging voltage sources the electrical power output by the power management circuit. The control circuit regulates the insertion voltage by modulating the feedback sense to the energy pump, and modulates the feedback sense in response to an electrical change in the current loop. The power consuming circuit receives the electrical power from the power management circuit.
