DEVICES AND METHODS FOR LEFT ATRIAL APPENDAGE CLOSURE
20170245861 · 2017-08-31 ·

Described here are closure devices and methods for ligating tissue, such as the left atrial appendage. Generally, the closure devices include an elongate body, a snare loop assembly comprising a snare and a suture loop, and a shuttle connected to the snare and releasably coupled to the elongate body and retractable therein. In some variations, the shuttle may be configured to fit into the lumen. In other variations, a handle may be attached to the elongate body, and the handle may comprise a track and a snare control coupled to the track. The handle may be configured to release the shuttle from the elongate body and allow movement of the snare control along the track to retract the snare loop and the shuttle into a lumen of the elongate body.

Vascular treatment devices and methods

An apparatus for performing a vascular treatment includes an intraluminal member that is controllingly moved during the vascular treatment. The intraluminal member of the vascular treatment device can be connected to a motor. The intraluminal member may be configured to retain endothelium during the vascular treatment procedure.

Minimally invasive intervertebral staple distraction devices

Multiple, small, staple-like supports are inserted through a small tube into the disc space then rotated into position on the edge of the vertebral bodies. The tooth-like geometry of the proximal and distal faces of these staples mates with the outer edge of the vertebral body, extending past the front of the endplate anteriorly. The staples have teeth that dig into the endplate on the inside of the rim as well.

DEVICE FOR SURGICAL LIGATION

A device for surgical ligation is provided, which comprises: a housing, where a pulling portion is provided therein; and an opening portion provided at one end of the housing and connected to the pulling portion, where a line delivery element is provided therein. The line delivery element comprises: a first arc unit having a first coupling portion and a slot thereon; a second arc unit having a second coupling portion corresponding to the first coupling portion; and a gear assembly comprising a plurality of gears engaging with each other, wherein a first gear is engaged with the pulling portion while a second gear is engaged with the second arc unit.

System for occlusion of left atrial appendage
09737309 · 2017-08-22 ·

A device for occluding an atrial appendage includes a catheter-deliverable epicardial implant that is detachably secured to a delivery device. The implant includes an inflatable cuff that is positionable about the atrial appendage to an extent that, when adjustably inflated, the cuff physiologically occludes the atrial appendage. Such occlusion addresses health risks associated with atrial fibrillation and cardiac rhythm disorder.

Adjustable vascular ring, means for treating SFS syndrome and implantable kit comprising such a ring, mould and method for obtaining such a ring

The invention relates to a perivascular ring having an inner diameter adjustable by inflation/deflation and adapted to be implanted and closed about a vessel for controlling the inner diameter of said vessel and thus the flow and/or pressure of a fluid flowing in said vessel. The ring of the invention is capable of regulating blood flow to the liver, in particular after an hepatectomy or hepatic transplant, and to substantially improve the survival chances of the patient. The ring according the invention has an adjustable inner diameter (O.sub.i) for implantation and locking about a vessel.

Methods and apparatus for transpericardial left atrial appendage closure

Methods for closing a left atrial appendage rely on introducing a closure tool from a location beneath the rib cage, over an epicardial surface, and to the exterior of the left atrial appendage. The closure device may then be used to close the left atrial appendage, preferably at its base, by any one of a variety of techniques. One specific technique uses graspers and a closing loop. Methods may include advancing a closure tool adjacent to the left atrial appendage using a sub-xiphoid approach and closing the left atrial appendage using the closure tool. Methods may also include advancing a loop adjacent to the left atrial appendage using a sub-xiphoid approach and closing the left atrial appendage using the loop.

Biopsy method and apparatus

A tissue sampling apparatus and method obtain a sample of tissue from a selected site and place a hemostatic plug at the selected site. The apparatus includes an external needle and an internal needle within the external needle. A chamber in the internal needle is divided by a divider member into a plug compartment for receiving a hemostatic plug, and a sample compartment for receiving a tissue sample. The divider member is resiliently biased into the plug compartment and the internal needle is movable relative to the external needle for admitting the hemostatic plug into the plug compartment and displacing the divider member into the sample compartment, and then closing the chamber. The apparatus then is advanced to the selected site where relative movement between the internal and external needles opens the chamber, allowing the divider member to expel the hemostatic plug from the plug compartment, and admitting a tissue sample into the sample compartment. Subsequent relative movement between the internal and external needles cuts the tissue sample from the surrounding tissue for removal from the selected site upon removal of the apparatus, while the expelled hemostatic plug remains at the site.

Apparatus for applying a band to a haemorrhoid
09717499 · 2017-08-01 ·

A magazine (200;400) for dispensing at least one band (106) onto the tip of a haemorrhoid ligator (100), the magazine (200; 400) comprising at least one expander receiving a respective band, the expander being arranged to expand the band and push it onto the tip (104) of the ligator (100) as the tip (104) is inserted into the magazine (200; 400). The only action required by the medical practitioner to load the band (106) onto the ligator (100) from the magazine (200;400) is to push the tip (104) of the ligator (100) inside the magazine (200; 400) whereupon the band (106) is expanded, pushed into place and is ready for immediate discharge. Therefore the magazine (200; 400) provides a medical practitioner with an easy way to load a haemorrhoid ligator (100).

Methods, devices and systems for treating venous insufficiency

Methods and systems for improving the competency of a venous valve wherein one or more compressor(s) (e.g., space occupying material(s) or implantable device(s)) is/are delivered to one or more location(s) adjacent to a venous valve to compress the venous valve in a manner that causes one or both leaflets of the valve to move toward the other, thereby improving closure or coaptation of the valve leaflets. The compressor(s) may be delivered by an open surgical approach, by a direct percutaneous approach or by a transluminal catheter-based approach.
