DEVICES AND METHODS TO TREAT AND PREVENT DIVERTICULITIS
20210259864 · 2021-08-26 ·

A method of treating diverticulitis while maintaining the bioactivity of the diverticulum. The devices and methods include placing an endoscopic device within a colonic lumen relative to at least one diverticulum and inserting a plurality of particles into the at least one diverticulum. The plurality of particles can include magnetic particles, non-magnetic particles, or both. The plurality of particles can partially or totally occlude the diverticulum preventing unwanted material from entering the diverticulum. Additionally, the plurality of particles can include antimicrobial and therapeutic layers that can treat diverticulitis and prevent or minimize diverticulitis from occurring.

A method of treating diverticulitis and the diverticulum by reducing the bioactivity of the diverticulum such that the diverticulum necroses. The devices and methods include placing an endoscopic device within a colonic lumen relative to at least one diverticulum and inverting the diverticulum. Once inverted, the diverticulum is collapsed and sealed. Overtime, the inverted diverticulum will necrose and be absorbed by the body or slough off and be expelled.

CERVICAL CERCLAGE APPLICATOR AND METHOD

A device and method for application of a cervical cerclage suture to a patient's cervix is disclosed. The device includes a housing having a first end and a second end spaced from the first end and defining an internal passageway. The device includes a retractable claw having a shaft slidable in the passageway and comprising a plurality of spaced flexible fingers that hold and release the cerclage suture. Each flexible finger may have a through-hole for receiving the cerclage suture, and may have a radial slit in communication with the through-hole and through which the cerclage suture is releasable from each finger. The claw is movable in the housing between a retracted state and an extended state relative to the housing. The shaft is operatively connected to the claw to move the claw axially relative to the housing.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING BODY TISSUE SPHINCTERS AND THE LIKE

A plurality of structures that resiliently attract one another are provided for implanting in a patient around a body tissue structure of the patient. For example, the body tissue structure may be the esophagus, and the plurality of structures may be implanted in an annulus around the outside of the esophagus, the annulus being substantially coaxial with the esophagus. The attraction may be between annularly adjacent ones of the structures in the annulus, and it may be provided, for example, by magnets or springs. The array of structures is preferably self-limiting with respect to the smallest area that it can encompass, and this smallest area is preferably large enough to prevent the apparatus from applying excessive pressure to tissue passing through that area.

CRISS-CROSS CORDS FOR BAND LIGATION

Devices, methods, and systems are provided for consistent and effective delivery of ligating bands. In one embodiment, a crisscross orientation of pull cords along an exterior surface of a ligation barrel can be used to ensure consistent delivery of ligation bands to tissue, resulting in better results for patients and an easier, safer operation for users.

LIGATION DEVICE

A ligation device includes a cylindrical inner cylinder having a distal end portion, a slider having a cylindrical shape, attached around the inner cylinder, movable with respect to the inner cylinder along an axial direction of the inner cylinder, and having annular grooves extending along a circumferential direction on an inner peripheral face, and ligation rings attached around the inner cylinder and located in the annular grooves.

Fixation of intraluminal device

An intraluminal device and method of fixation of an intraluminal device in a mammalian lumen or hollow organ that experiences peristalsis includes a fixation system that is adapted to resist distal migration of the intraluminal device in the lumen or hollow organ. The intraluminal device has a wall surface configured to the size and shape of a mammalian lumen or hollow organ. A fixation system is adapted to resist distal migration of the body in the lumen or hollow organ. The fixation system includes a bio-absorbable material around at least one of the elongated members.

CLIP APPLIER AND METHODS OF USE

A system having an elongate assembly, an expandable assembly having a fixed end region and a movable end region, the expandable assembly selectively transitioning between an expanded state and an unexpanded state with movement of the movable end region towards the fixed end region, and an advancement aid extending distally from the expandable assembly.

LIGATION DEVICE

A ligation device includes a main body and a first ligation ring. The main body has a cylindrical shape. The main body is configured to be attached to an endoscope and to be located on a distal end portion of the endoscope. The main body includes a distal end portion configured to project from a distal end of the endoscope in a longitudinal direction of the main body and includes a first fluid feeding passage with a first opening that opens on a distal end face or an outer peripheral face of the distal end portion of the main body. The first ligation ring is attached to the distal end portion of the main body so as to obstruct the first opening.

Method and system for ligating a body part

The present disclosure relates to improved ligature devices and related methods of ligating animal body parts. More specifically, a ligature device capable of maintaining a ligature band in an elongated position, applying a preformed ligation band to an object to be ligated, manually releasing the ligation band from an elongated position, and securing a ligation band in a tensioned position is described. The ligation device may be used to apply ligation bands to various body parts of various animals.
