An elongated endoscopic apparatus has an elongated catheter provided with a snare provision for performing a snaring procedure, a surgery clip, and a clip applier for clipping the wound left by the snaring procedure with the surgery clip. Preferably the elongated catheter is formed with an elongated inner tubular conduit that can accommodate a plurality of surgery clips, each having a C-shape characterized by a pair of elongated jaws mated together at a hinge end, wherein the jaws have tip ends forming the head end for the clip and hinge end forms the tail end for the clip when said plurality of clips are loaded into core of the inner tubular conduit in head to tail procession. The clip applier dispenses the clips a single at a time.

The present disclosure provides an apparatus, and methods of using same, for collecting blood from an umbilical cord in a sterile environment that includes an umbilical cord retaining assembly and a blood collection assembly rotatably connected to the umbilical cord retaining assembly. A cord cutting blade, which is carried by the blood collection assembly, functions to cut the umbilical cord when the blood collection assembly is rotated relative to the umbilical cord retaining assembly. After the umbilical cord is cut, blood flows by force of gravity into the blood collection region of the blood collection assembly to which a blood collection bag can be interconnected.

A transecting fastener is operable to cut and secure tissue. The transecting fastener comprises a plurality of legs configured to grip tissue. The transecting fastener further comprises a crown portion and at least one blade. The crown portion joins the plurality of legs and is malleable. The at least one blade is positioned on each of the plurality of legs. The at least one blade is operable to cut tissue. A fastener deploying instrument may be used to deploy the transecting fastener. The fastener deploying instrument may deploy the fasteners in parallel pairs, in an end to end manner.

A system for use in connection with a blood vessel includes a proximal section including a control system and a distal section. The distal section has connected thereto an application device configure to apply one or more ligating clips to the blood vessel to mechanically ligate the blood vessel. The application system is in connection with the control system. The distal section further has connected thereto a cutting device which is configured to mechanically cut tissue, including the blood vessel (for example, after compressive force is applied to the vessel via one or the one or more ligating clips).
