Prosthetic heart valve and systems and methods for delivering the same

A prosthetic heart valve includes a self-expanding wire frame body, a valve disposed in the body, a leaflet clip coupled to the body, and a control element operably coupled to the leaflet clip. The body has a proximal end and a distal end. The leaflet clip is configured to be transitioned between a first configuration in which the prosthetic valve can be inserted into a heart, and a second configuration in which the leaflet clip is disposed to capture a native valve leaflet between the leaflet clip and the wire frame body when the body is disposed in a native annulus of an atrioventricular valve of a heart. The control element extends from the leaflet clip through a ventricle of the heart and out a wall of the ventricle to allow a user to transition the leaflet clip from its first configuration to its second configuration.

A surgical clip of branch-crossed design has two Z-shaped clip branches connected to each other at a proximal end of each of the clip branches by a spring-elastic connection piece. Each of the clip branches has a jaw part at a distal section with a gripping surface. In an assembled position of the clip, the clip branches cross and the gripping surfaces are opposite each other and are held in contact on one another by a closing force of the spring-elastic connection piece. At least one first clip branch has a groove in which the second clip branch is held and/or guided, at least in sections, such that a displacement of the clip branches in a transverse direction of the clip branches is prevented.

A valve repair device for repairing a native heart valve of a patient includes a pair of clasps, a pair of paddles, and a coupler. The clasps and paddles are configured to attach to native valve leaflets of the heart valve. The coupler is mechanically connected to the paddles. The coupler is configured to move the paddles between a partially open position and a closed position. The coupler is configured to move freely such that ends of the pair of paddles move away from one another when the native valve leaflets open during a diastolic phase of a cardiac cycle and the ends of the pair of paddles move toward one another when the native valve leaflets close during a ventricular systole of the cardiac cycle.

BENDABLE CLIP DEVICE

A clip device for gripping biological tissue of a patient includes a clip having a first arm and second arm closeable by operation of a wire that is reciprocally moveable in a longitudinal channel of a sheath; and a bendable member at a distal end region of the sheath. The bendable member can be an integral portion of the sheath or a separate structure. The bendable member is configured to allow a distal end of a clip to rotate or swing toward a proximal end region of the sheath of the device, which orients the clip relative to the sheath to facilitate grasping of tissue even when the approach of the clip is tangential to the tissue, e.g., at an angle (θ) less than 90. The bendable member can be configured to allow a distal end of a clip to rotate or swing toward a proximal end region of a sheath and form an angle of up to at least about 45 degrees, such up to about 60 degrees or up to about 90 degrees, or higher.

Delaying pre-term birth

A device for retarding birth including an upper ring for surrounding a cervix, an anchoring component for anchoring the device, and an elastic component for attaching the upper ring to the anchoring component, wherein the elastic component pushes the upper ring and the anchoring component apart. A device for retarding birth including a sleeve for surrounding a cervix along a greater portion of a length of the cervix, a support strip on the sleeve directed along an axis of the sleeve, and a ring at least partially around the sleeve, in which when a top of the sleeve is pushed to expand radially, the support strip pivots on the ring, such that an end of the support strip near the top of the sleeve moves radially outward, and an end of the support strip near the bottom of the sleeve moves radially inward. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

A clip for immobilizing leaflets of a cardiac or venous valve includes a hub having a pair of tangle resistant spring-biased outer arms coupled to an inferior end of the hub and a pair of tangle resistant spring-biased inner arms adjacent to the outer arms and coupled to a superior end of the hub. A delivery catheter may be used to position the valve clip adjacent a target valve while the outer and inner arms are biased in an opened position relative to each other. After the valve leaflets are located between the opened outer and inner arms, the biasing forces may be released to allow the clip to self-close the clip over the valve leaflets.
