Releasably locking tie
The present invention is an apparatus for releasably constricting one or more objects, and in particular to a restricting blood to an injured appendage comprising an elongate band and capture device that cooperate to form a releasable, adjustable loop. A release lever and a parallel thumb mount are compressed to release the elongate band from the capture device, where the thumb mount is configured to remain fixed while the release lever rotates about a fulcrum bar to disengage a projection that locks the size of the loop.
TOURNIQUET
A tourniquet includes a support structure with a slot at one end for receiving a strap and a gate opposite the at least one strap slot for retaining a windlass relative to the support structure. A first end of the strap is threaded through the windlass and the slot and is attached back upon itself to form a loop. The second free end of the strap is configured to wrap around an extremity, through the slot and secured back to itself. Winding the windlass relative to the support structure causes the strap to twist between the windlass and the support structure to tighten the strap around the extremity. One end of the windlass can then be inserted through the gate to hold the windlass relative to the support structure.
PIEZOELECTRIC PRESSURE CUFF
A pressure cuff is provided, comprising a plurality of layers and a controller. The layers comprise: an outer covering, an outer surface of which is exposed when the pressure cuff is secured around a body part of a patient; a first conductive layer; a first insulating layer separating the outer covering and the first conductive layer; an inner covering, the inner surface of which contacts the patient or the patient's clothing when the pressure cuff is secured to the patient; a second conductive layer; a second insulating layer separating the inner covering and the second conductive layer; and a first piezoelectric support layer separating the first and second conductive layers. The controller is electrically coupled to the first and second conductive layers and configured to supply a voltage to the first and second conductive layers, whereupon the first piezoelectric support layer constricts around the body part of the patient.
Surgical drape configured for peripherally inserted central catheter procedures
A medical drape (100) includes an upper portion (101) and a lower portion (102). The upper portion (101) can be pellucid, while the lower portion (102) can be opaque. To facilitate central catheter insertion, the upper portion (101) can define one or more apertures (104,105) through which a central line may be inserted. A tourniquet (401) may be integrated with the drape, as can one or more tool-less removal features (108,109).
Abdominal aortic tourniquet
An abdominal aortic tourniquet having one-piece member for the bladder and cover portions and whose bladder has a triangular cross-sectional shape when inflated that significantly increases the amount of point pressure such that the intended artery is properly occluded. The one-piece bladder/cover design provides for a reduction in cost of materials and provides for a more compact piece as compared to prior designs. The abdominal aortic tourniquet uses a single piece of weldable and gas impermeable fabric that is configured in a novel manner to create a three-dimensional, pneumatic piston while also serving as storage/transport cover, attachment structure, and major component of the belt member.
INFLATABLE RADIAL ARTERY COMPRESSION DEVICE WITH CINCHING WRISTBAND AND METHOD OF USE
Radial artery compression devices are disclosed. Some embodiments comprise an inflatable chamber and a frame. Securement straps, including securement straps comprising a free end threaded through a portion of the frame are also disclosed. Systems and methods for securing and/or positioning a securement device with one hand are also disclosed.
WINDLASS PEN
A tourniquet includes windlass having a cavity and a writing instrument configured to be stored in the cavity. The writing instrument is retained in the cavity through a friction fit and without threads, such that a frictional force decreases as the writing instrument is removed from the cavity.
Tourniquet system
A tourniquet system including a band, an optional bar, and an anti-pinch plate. The bar comprises an elongate portion of material having a first end portion, an intermediate portion, and a second end portion, at least one aperture formed in the bar so as to accept the band and allow the band to pass therethrough, at least one locking protrusion that extends from at least one of the first end portion or the second end portion. The anti-pinch plate includes one or more band receiving apertures formed so as to accept the band and allow the band to pass therethrough, wherein the anti-pinch plate includes one or more locking notches formed substantially along an edge portion of the anti-pinch plate, wherein the locking notches provide a means for securing at least a portion of the bar to the anti-pinch plate.
Tourniquet system
A tourniquet system embedded within the garment, the tourniquet system including a band, an optional bar, and an anti-pinch plate.
WEIGHTLIFTING WRAP
A weightlifting wrap is provided which prevents slippage, increases rebound potential, allows simpler application, and provides greater stability. The wrap includes a stretchable material having exposed elongate pliable strand members on one outer surface of the wrap. The exposed pliable strand members are arranged in an offset lattice configuration. The exposed pliable strand members may have a coefficient of friction sufficient to grip the previous layer of wrap.
