SURGICAL STAPLING INSTRUMENT HAVING A RELEASABLE BUTTRESS MATERIAL
A surgical stapler including an anvil, a staple cartridge, and a buttress material removably retained to the anvil and/or staple cartridge. In various embodiments, the staple cartridge can include at least one staple removably stored therein which can, when deployed, or fired, therefrom, contact the buttress material and remove the buttress material from the anvil and/or staple cartridge. In at least one embodiment, the anvil can include at least one lip and/or groove configured to removably retain the buttress material to the anvil until deformable members extending from the surgical staple are bent by the anvil and are directed toward and contact the buttress material.
Methods and devices for remote ischemic conditioning via partial limb occlusion
Single- or dual-bladder devices for automated delivery of remote ischemic conditioning treatment via partial limb occlusion involve various methods of operating the cuff in which partial or full limb occlusion is achieved during the periods of cuff inflation. Achieving clinical benefits of remote ischemic conditioning without extended cessation of limb blood flow are advantageous due to lower required cuff pressure and reduced risk of clot formation in the limb vasculature.

ADJUSTABLE VASCULAR RING, MEANS FOR TREATING SFS SYNDROME AND IMPLANTABLE KIT COMPRISING SUCH A RING, MOULD AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING SUCH A RING
The invention relates to a perivascular ring having an inner diameter adjustable by inflation/deflation and adapted to be implanted and closed about a vessel for controlling the inner diameter of said vessel and thus the flow and/or pressure of a fluid flowing in said vessel. The ring of the invention is capable of regulating blood flow to the liver, in particular after an hepatectomy or hepatic transplant, and to substantially improve the survival chances of the patient. The ring according the invention has an adjustable inner diameter (Ø.sub.i) for implantation and locking about a vessel.
Reducing Brain Injury By Limiting Brain Motion During Sudden Deceleration Or Acceleration Of The Head
A brain injury reduction system provides a protective measure that temporarily or decreases venous drainage out of the intracranial compartment during or immediately before and during a sudden change in acceleration of an individual's head. Specifically, a wearable helmet or other wearable structure of the brain injury reduction system detects an impending collision and determines whether a protective measure is needed. If so, one or more actuation devices provides the protective measure to reduce venous drainage through one or both of the internal jugular veins or paravertebral venous plexus. A first actuation device stimulates a gag reflex or valsalva-like maneuver to reduce venous drainage through the paravertebral venous plexus. A second actuation device can physically compress the internal jugular veins. Thus, the brain injury reduction system minimizes the detrimental impact that may occur due to the sudden change in acceleration of the individual's head.
Tissue compression device with tension limiting strap retainer
Tissue compression devices having a tension limiting strap retainer and methods of using the same. The tissue compression devices described herein may include a strap retainer that is attached to a base by an elastic member that is configured to draw the strap retainer towards the base. The tissue compression devices described herein may also include a tension indicator that extends between the base of the tissue compression device and strap retainer. The tension indicator may be configured to limit the travel distance of the strap retainer away from the base in response to forces acting on the strap retainer. The tension indicator may also provide visual feedback to a user of the tension force in a strap to attach the tissue compression device to a patient.

Device for treatment of aneurysm
In a method, system and device a member is provided around an aneurysm enabling treatment and monitoring of the aneurysm. In accordance with one embodiment the device is adapted to be adjusted postoperatively. Hereby the treatment can be efficiently carried out without having to perform surgery when adjusting the member.
BLOOD PRESSURE CUFF WITH TAPERED BLADDER
A blood pressure cuff may comprise an alignment component, a sleeve, and a tapered inflatable bladder disposed within the sleeve. The tapered inflatable bladder may have a width that increases as the distance from the alignment component increases, and the tapered inflatable bladder and the alignment component may be configured to position the blood pressure cuff around a limb having a blood vessel and a circumference, such that at a position coincident with the blood vessel, the width of the tapered inflatable bladder is about 40% of the circumference of the limb. A method of using such a blood pressure cuff may comprise placing the alignment component at the position coincident with the blood vessel of the limb, wrapping the cuff around the limb such that the width of the tapered inflatable bladder overlaying the blood vessel is about 40% of the circumference of the limb, and inflating the bladder.
Vein presentation enhancement device
Preferably, an embodiment of a vein presentation enhancement device includes at least, an interior cover supporting a first fastening member, and an exterior cover communicating with the interior cover, wherein the exterior cover provides a first securement member that interacts with the first fastening member to secure the preferred device positioned about a limb of a subject. The preferred embodiment further includes a bladder formed between the interior and exterior covers, and an air transfer assembly connected to said bladder for transfer of air into and out of said bladder, wherein said interior and exterior covers collectively provide a plurality of projections defining a blood access window.
