OSTEOTOMY SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS

Osteotomy systems, devices, and methods for using the osteotomy systems are disclosed. The osteotomy system including an alignment device, at least one k-wire for insertion into the alignment device, and a cut guide with at least one hole for receiving at least one k-wire and a slot for receiving a saw blade. An osteotomy kit including an alignment device, cut guide, and position rotation device. The alignment device, cut guide, position rotation device, and bone plate are also disclosed. Finally, a method for fusing bones using the osteotomy system is also disclosed.

Implant and guide

A method for configuring a surgical guide and an associated implant. The implant and surgical guide are for maxillofacial osteosynthesis. Three-dimensional models of the pre- and post-operative anatomy are used to define attachment points. These attachment points are used to determine a structure for the implant and surgical guide.

Bone positioning guide

A bone positioning guide may include a main body member, a shaft, and a bone engagement member. The shaft can be movably connected to the main body member and have the bone engagement member rotatably coupled to its distal end. The bone engagement member can have a surface configured to engage a bone. The main body member can also include a tip opposite the bone engagement member for engaging a second bone. In use, the bone engagement member may be positioned in contact with a medial side of a first metatarsal while the tip is positioned in contact with a lateral side of a different metatarsal, such as a second metatarsal. The shaft can then be moved to advance the bone engagement member toward the tip, causing realignment of the first metatarsal.

OSTEOTOMY PROCEDURE FOR CORRECTING BONE MISALIGNMENT

An osteotomy procedure may be performed to correct a misalignment of a bone, such as a bunion deformity. In some examples, the osteotomy procedure involves making a spherical-shaped cut transecting a first metatarsal, thereby forming a first metatarsal portion having a spherical-shaped projection and a second metatarsal portion having a spherical-shaped recess. The method further involves moving the second metatarsal portion in at least two planes relative to the first metatarsal portion, thereby adjusting an anatomical alignment of the second metatarsal portion.

DEVICES AND TECHNIQUES FOR TREATING METATARSUS ADDUCTUS

A metatarsus adductus technique may involve cutting an end of one or both of a second metatarsal and an intermediate cuneiform to create a wedge-shaped opening between the end of the second metatarsal and the intermediate cuneiform. The method may further involve cutting an end of one or both of a third metatarsal and a lateral cuneiform to also create a wedge-shaped opening between the end of the third metatarsal and the lateral cuneiform. The second metatarsal and the third metatarsal can then be moved in a transverse plane to close a metatarsus adductus angle. Movement of the second and third metatarsal may close the wedge-shaped openings forming during bone cutting. With the second and third metatarsals appropriately realigned, the clinician can fixate the moved position of the second metatarsal and the third metatarsal.

SURGICAL GUIDES

Disclosed herein are surgical guides, surgical supports, surgical systems, and methods of use thereof. The surgical guides, supports, and systems discloses herein can include an instrument and a patient-specific support. The instrument can be connectable to a surgical support arm and include a guide surface. The patient-specific support can comprise an instrument engagement portion and an anatomy contacting surface. The instrument engagement portion can be configured to receive a portion of the instrument and the anatomy contacting surface contoured to match a contour of an anatomical surface of a patient. When coupled to the patient-specific support, the surgical support arm and the patient-specific support can position the instrument and the guide surface in a predetermined location and orientation relative to the anatomical surface of the patient with increased stability.

Position correction method of osteotomy guide tool and orthopedic surgical system

A method for correcting position of an osteotomy guide tool and an orthopedic operation system are disclosed. A trackable element mounted on the osteotomy guide tool or on the robotic arm tracks the position of the osteotomy guide tool and generates position information of the trackable element. According to the current position and the desired position of the trackable element, a robotic arm drives the osteotomy guide tool and the trackable element to move, until the trackable element is moved to the desired position. This method does not need to consider the absolute position accuracy of the robotic arm, and does not rely on the experience of the surgeon. The tool has several guiding features, which can provide guides for osteotomy operations, so that the same osteotomy guide tool can perform multiple operations of osteotomy and punching, thus greatly reducing the operation time and improving the operation efficiency.

Method and system for minimally invasive bone extra-articular reconstruction
11224448 · 2022-01-18 ·

A method and system for performing corrective surgery for pediatric or adult acquired flatfoot deformity (“AAFD”), namely, minimally invasive bone extra-articular reconstruction. The method and system comprises attaching a cutting guide to the bone to be operated wherein the cutting guide comprises two or more diverging K-wire channels and a slit configured to guide a burr used by a surgeon to perform osteotomy through the slit. Through the use of the cutting guide, the surgical procedure is simpler and reproducible. Patients will experience a quicker recovery, less pain, less operating room time, less narcotic use, and a better cosmetic result from smaller incisions. The present invention may also be applicable to intra-articular applications.
