Assemblies for preparation of surgical sites

This disclosure relates to assemblies and methods for repairing bone defects. The assemblies disclosed herein may be utilized for determining a dimension of a surgical site and removing bone prior to positioning a graft and/or implant at the surgical site.

Flexible bone reamer

A bone reamer is provided and may include a shaft and a cutting element. The shaft may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a flexible portion. The flexible portion may be disposed between the proximal and distal ends. The cutting element may be carried by the shaft and may include a cutting surface facing the distal end of the shaft. The distal end of the shaft may be offset from the cutting surface.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR JOINT REPAIR

The disclosed subject matter relates to a system and method for preparing a surface of a bone proximate a joint, in which the preparation includes boring a plurality of arced channels/troughs in the bone surface using an arch drill assembly guided by plural guide bores along a predetermined longitudinal arc. The bored troughs create a scalloped surface on the bone to which an inverse contoured joint insert/implant having cooperating convex ridges engages. The plural guide bores are also defined by the predetermined longitudinal arc which may be circular or helical. The disclosed subject matter minimizes bone removal and allows greater access options for preparing the bone surface.

High Speed Cutting Bur

A cutting bur assembly including a cutting head with a head shaft extending therefrom. The cutting head and the head shaft are rotatable by a motor. A tube with the head shaft is rotatably mounted therein. The head shaft extends out from within the tube to locate the cutting head beyond a distal end of the tube. A plurality of bearing rollers are in direct cooperation with an outer surface of the head shaft such that upon rotation of the head shaft the plurality of bearing rollers roll along the outer surface. An outer bearing race surrounds the plurality of bearing rollers and the head shaft to retain the plurality of bearing rollers in cooperation with the head shaft.

Drill assemblies and methods for drilling into bone

Drill assemblies and methods for drilling into bone are provided. In general, a drill assembly can have a flexible distal portion configured to move between a substantially straight configuration, in which a longitudinal axis of the distal portion is aligned with a longitudinal axis of a proximal shaft portion of the drill assembly, and a curved configuration, in which the longitudinal axis of the distal portion is angularly offset from the longitudinal axis of the plurality of segments located between the proximal shaft and the drill tip. The drill assembly can include a connecting element extending from the proximal shaft, through the segments, and to the drill tip at a distal end of the drill assembly. The drill assembly can include a conformal covering on the distal portion thereof that is configured to curve.

Multiple Connection Drive Shaft

A flexible cannula device includes a solid cannula shaft, a solid cannula tip including an opening, and a coil positioned between and welded to the cannula shaft and cannula tip, the cannula shaft, coil, and cannula tip forming a lumen in fluid communication with the opening. A flexible cannulated drill includes a solid cannula shaft, a solid cannula tip shaped to drill through tissue, a coil positioned between and welded to the cannula shaft and cannula tip, and a handle connected to the cannula shaft. The coil can be a double helix coil comprising an inner coil within an outer coil. A tube inside the coil prevents fluid from leaking between rings of the coil. A cannula system includes an introducer needle and the flexible cannula device. A screw mechanism can adjust a length that the flexible cannula device extends beyond a distal end of the introducer needle.

Orthopaedic surgical method and instrument assembly for reaming a patient's acetabulum

A surgical instrument assembly includes a metallic hemispherical component and a driver component removably coupled to the hemispherical component. The metallic hemispherical component has a convex outer surface configured to engage a patient's natural acetabulum, a concave inner surface positioned opposite the outer surface and defining a cavity in the hemispherical component, a plurality of cutting teeth extending outwardly from the outer surface, and a plurality of apertures defined in the inner surface. The driver component has a shank and a plurality of ribs secured to, and extending outwardly from, the shank. Each rib has a tab that is received in a corresponding aperture of the hemispherical component to secure the driver component to the hemispherical component.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR INTRABODY SURGERY
20220022912 · 2022-01-27 ·

A device for intrabody surgery comprises a cutting arrangement rotatable by a hollow driveshaft, which is formed by a hollow front cutting region and a rear region. The front region includes multiple longitudinal drilling sections interconnected by transversely oriented cutting blade sections. The drilling sections are positioned at an angle to each other defining in combination with the cutting blades a conically shaped grid formation having a hollow internal cavity. The grid formation defines a plurality of ports between the drilling sections and the blades. A low-pressure zone is formed within the hollow internal cavity, wherein cut occlusion materials are aspired by the low-pressure zone through the plurality of ports into the hollow internal cavity for further evacuation from the cutting arrangement.
