The invention relates to a surgical tool (1) for cutting a helical groove in a bone with a body (2) receiving at least a portion of a drive shaft (9) and a tool part (3) held on same comprising a functional element (5) that produces the groove in the bone by oscillating. The tool part (3) comprises a projecting, rotatable shaft (4) at whose end opposite the body (2) the pin (5) constituting the functional element extends through an aperture (8) out of the shaft (4) that, in order to remove material of the bone, can oscillate longitudinally. The shaft (4) is coupled in such a way with the drive shaft (9) that the latter exerts torque on the shaft (4) and the pin (5) at least indirectly, at least one wing (6) projecting radially from the shaft (4) that extends at a spacing beginning behind the pin (5) in the peripheral direction of the shaft (4) helically in the direction of the body (2). The drive shaft (9) has an eccentric pin (11) projecting from its front-side end that is in engagement with a vibratory shaft (7) extending through the shaft (4), the pin (5) being firmly held on the vibratory shaft (7).

Various systems and methods for treating the spine are provided. A portal system can be provided for treating the spine. The portal system can include a portal comprising a proximal end and a distal end, a first passageway extending between the proximal end and the distal end, a second passageway extending between the proximal end and the distal end, and a latch. The bone tie can include a head, a body section comprising one or more gears, and a fastener section comprising a ratchet.

Surgical system for positioning prosthetic component and/or for constraining movement of surgical tool

An end effector for a computer-assisted surgical system includes a mount configured to be coupled to an arm and a housing coupled to the mount and configured to interchangeably support a first operating member and a second operating member. When the housing supports the first operating member, the housing is configured to prevent translation of the first operating member relative to the mount. When the housing supports the second operating member, the housing is configured to allow translation of the second operating member relative to the mount along a first axis.

System and method for preparing a patient's femur in an orthopaedic joint replacement procedure

An orthopaedic joint replacement system is shown and described. The system includes a number of prosthetic components configured to be implanted into a patient's knee. The system also includes a number of surgical instruments configured for use in preparing the bones of the patient's knee to receive the implants. A method or technique for using the surgical instruments to prepare the bones is also disclosed.

Rotationally balanced slot pattern for flexible shafts

A flexible shaft includes a tubular body extending along a central longitudinal axis and having proximal and distal ends opposite one another. The flexible shaft also includes a slot defined by the tubular body and extending along a helical path around and along at least a portion of the body between the proximal and distal ends. The helical path extends around the portion of the body for a plurality of rotations. The slot defines at least two teeth adjacent one another along a direction parallel to the central axis. Each tooth of the two teeth has a feature. In some implementations, a line extending through center points of the features on the two teeth is angularly offset from the central longitudinal axis. In some implementations, a line parallel to the central longitudinal axis intersects a different point on each feature of the two teeth.

Flexible bone tool

A flexible bone tool comprising a bone tissue removal element configured at a distal end of the tool, at least two links coupled proximally to the bone tissue removal element, the links connected to each other by a radial interference connection in which at least one radially outwards extending protrusion of a first link is received within a recess of a subsequent link. In some embodiments, the links are interconnected by a “snap-fit” connection. In some embodiments, the flexible bone tool is configured for transferring torque at a magnitude sufficient for drilling and/or reaming a bore in a bone.
